Intro Log: Ten Thousand Lightning Bugs

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for May.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: May 10th-16th
Warnings: Confused newbies, pretty fireflies, stuff getting lit on fire

Awakening in Hadriel is perhaps not the most wonderful thing, but as you pry yourself off the hard ground of the colosseum, you may notice that the Door (or possibly one of the gods?) has seen fit to provide you with a little entertainment. Scattered across the ground are a number of handheld video games. These cheap pieces of shit lovingly crafted products can each provide you with whole minutes of entertainment, at least until you get frustrated and smash them to pieces. Have fun!

But not too much fun. If you get too involved in that game, you might miss the approach of some glowing little creatures - guardian fireflies, from the movie Atlantis. Should they land on anything flammable - and yes, that includes you and your hair - it'll burst into flames. Smash them, and they'll explode in a tiny ball of flame, too. There'll be a couple hundred of these things flying around Hadriel, so let's hope you left your stash of gunpowder at home. With the window closed.

Once you've stopped dropped and rolled, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers May 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[These strange little machines strewn about are mesmerizing to a guy from 1934. Firo's cautiously kicking at one and is about to pick it up when bam. Somebody else is there. He starts and turns around quickly, sizing up this person.

He could've sworn there wasn't a soul there. Was he really that distracted?]

Don't you think that's kind of a general question?

[ No, just Locus' special brand of friendliness. There one minute and gone the next.

And currently, he's thinking about being gone in the next. Internally he sighs, but doesn't move outwardly. The question reminds him of someone and it pinches at him, makes annoyance scratch under his skin.

Does he look to be in a gaming mood? ]

Not for anyone intelligent to understand. Of this place. [ He stresses the word so even a simpleton could understand. ] What do you know.

[ This time, it isn't a question. ]

So you're new.

[Also not a question. Besides, he's sure he would've noticed somebody this weird.

He cocks his head to one side.]

Where do you wanna start? The loons who think they're gods, the cannibalism, or the monsters? Or should I just skip right to the bar?

[That's the part that tends to make people more hopeful. Lucky ducks don't know how bad it was before Delight showed up.]

[ Well. Those are all things he doesn't know and hadn't discovered yet. He weighs the pros and cons of continuing this conversation. Because, after all, this person could be lying. But, more information is good information—even if it's wrong. He'll know who to come back to if he finds out otherwise.

He's not looking for hope, he's looking for answers. Unlike some, he doesn't search for them in the bottom of a glass. ]

Start at the beginning of your list.

[Firo considers ribbing the guy more but decides to give him a break. Where's the fun if he just gets frustrated and leaves?

He holds up four fingers as he ticks off the names.]

There's four that are... 'awake', I think they call it. Hope, Fear, Rage, and Delight.

Rage does weapons--but no guns--Delight does booze, and Hope does pretty much everything else. They all fuck with you, too. Anything weird happens, it's probably them.

[ This is moderately more useful information. It's clear there's more to it than this one is saying, he's not so foolish to believe otherwise. However, he's more knowledgeable than Locus on the current situation. He makes a note of these names, wondering how difficult it would be to find them or if they sit out of reach and give everyone else the role of plaything.

Hope and delight aren't things Locus knows the confines of—what they feel like or how they happen so he's less interested in these personifications of the emotions. Rage and fear, well. ]

And Fear? [ This one feels slightly more important than Rage, all things in his life lately considered. ] What do they do?

Weren't you listenin'? He screws around with us, that's what he does. Buries people alive, feeds people other people, all that.

[He waves his hand as if Fear's deeds are a horde of flies to swat away.]
