Event Log: Soulmates

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for Soulmates event
Where: All over the city
When: February 14th-February 22nd
Warnings: None

Oh shit, what even happened last night? You're pretty sure you had a normal night, no crazy drunk antics (unless that is your normal night). But this morning you woke up with a brand new tattoo, and it's... a name?

Maybe it's a name you recognize, one of your good friends. Maybe it's a stranger. Maybe it's someone you can barely stand. No matter who it is, you kind of feel like you should look for them and figure out what's going on with this weird tattoo. And when you find them - well, they've got one too, except this one is your name. It would seem weird, except as soon as you see each other you kind of understand. Of course you'd have a tattoo with the name of the person you've found such an amazing connection with. You were meant to be together.

So enjoy your time with your newfound soulmate. Who knows, you might wake up tomorrow with a whole new name on your arm, a new connection, a new love. Make the most of it!

► This log covers February 14th-February 22nd
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you try to pull off a stupid stunt to impress your soulmate and fail so miserably you die, please let us know here.

A - monster's head? [ ...Oh. Dany looks appropriately disturbed at the concept, eyeing Sonya warily. ]

...I would like that, thank you. [ Can there please be no decapitated heads involved, though. ] And I would be happy to speak more.

[ They'd chatted once or twice, but nothing longer than a few minutes. Dany finds herself happily compelled to be in Sonya's company at the moment, and so she waits until the other woman takes the lead and walks off. ]

Do you cook often?

She looked so pleased and hopeful I couldn't refuse. [It wasn't even her thing, really, but for reasons she could only chalk up to the gods, she found herself flattered by it.] I have it preserved in alcohol from the speakesy, keeps it from stinking up the place.

[Throwing it out now just seemed rude after all. Here, when I can. Sets me up for the rest of the week.

[Mostly because it was a reminder that she had to eat. Loosing the babyweight was easy enough when she no longer had a child to feed, but reminding herself that muscle tone needed to be fed meant forcing herself to eat something.] Not as much with the orchid and garden out of commission.

It's lucky that we're able to grow food for ourselves at all, considering how frequently where we are seems to change.

[ The icy tundra is no place for gardens or orchards, after all. ]

So, what will you do with that 'gift?' [ She jokes lightly, chuckling at the (admittedly gruesome) concept of Sonya keeping a head in her home. ] Or are you really trying to keep it stored somewhere you'll forget about it?

More like the places we're sent are able to bear crops at all. And they're...courteous enough to give us a warning. [That was as close a compliment she could give to the gods here.]

[The question allowed her a small smile in return, if only for a slight change in subject]
All the effort that went into it, it's still going to be a mantel piece. I've manners enough to know it's rude to throw a gift away-unless I actually hate the person, but if that was the case I wouldn't accept something from them in the first place.

[And while Kettera was a stranger otherwise, she couldn't say it was the same as hating her.]

I don't know why they tell us what their plans are. I don't truly believe it's out of courtesy.

[ Consider her cynical. ]

You're very kind. [ Dany laughs, still both amused and mildly horrified. ] But there are some who thinks such things really are trophies to be kept, even after they are rotting and horrible to look on.

[ The Dothraki, for one, and so many other men in Essos and Westeors. ]

Well, if there's one good thing about the speak easy, it's that strong alchohol's actually a very good preservative, and unlike smoking and parboiling it doesn't change the overall appearence.

[She'd smoked meat before once while hunting. It couldn't have been all that different.

She actually laughed at this, but it was the short, curt laugh of someone who was just tired.]
Because we need time to prepare and we're useless to them dead.

[They finally arrived to the tower were she lived. Once and awhile, Sonya pondered on the idea of getting one of the more 'personal homes', but in the end she could never be bothered. A nicer home felt to her akin to 'settling', and like hell was she ever going to 'settle' in this place.

She reached the door first and opened it, habit and ingrained manners waiting for Daenarys to walk first.]

"Parboiling?" [ There are so many things from the others' worlds that she isn't familiar with, but she merely tilts her head curiously as she asks.

Once they arrive at Sonya's, Dany walks through and waits for the other, mouth thinning at the continue talk of the gods. ]

I'm not so sure. Newcomers are brought in through the Door each month, and I doubt they would miss a few of the current population if they were to die.

"Boiling for only a short amount of time. I think various spices were used as well, but keep in mind, this is centuries before I was even born-all I have to go by is remember bits of what I've read.

[And when she came closer and closer to her due date and recovery from birth, it seemed all she could do was read.

Inside, her home is clean but rather spartan in anything save that what might've already been there. As though any sign of making the place more homey is a step towards 'settling'.]
If that were the case, I don't think they'd bother bringing the dead back to life. [Like Margery that one time.]

Please, sit. [She motioned to the sofa.] I'll see about getting some tea.

[The tea here was atleast passable.]

I thought they returned us to life to keep us believing. We would have no hope if there was no promise of return and we lost our friends to their events.

[ Does she sound cynical? That's par for the course for her, at least in Hadriel. The experience has been less-than-good thus far, and it's been years. ]

Thank you. [ She smiles appreciatively and sits when asked, folding her hands in her lap. As Sonya busies herself making the tea, Dany glances around the other's home. ]

Do you live alone?

[She'd find the interior clean, but near spartan in design. The only bits of color being the occasional wall hanging and curtains to try and retain warmth.

Sonya welcomed the distraction of providing refreshments. In truth, Sonya didn't really wish to discuss the gods; since when had the gods ever done anything for her. Even Raiden, for all his assistance, could only do so much.

She set a covered saucepot over the stove to boil (she never could find a proper kettle), before looking to see what to offer as a snack of some sort.]
Officially..yes. I share the space on occasion, but..only when the solitude becomes too much. Then I offer the other room.

[She knows now she'd grown so used to living with someone else. Any place save for a small room now seemed too large and to quiet just by herself.] You have some housemates, if I remember correctly?
