Oh shit, what even happened last night? You're pretty sure you had a normal night, no crazy drunk antics (unless that is your normal night). But this morning you woke up with a brand new tattoo, and it's... a name?

Maybe it's a name you recognize, one of your good friends. Maybe it's a stranger. Maybe it's someone you can barely stand. No matter who it is, you kind of feel like you should look for them and figure out what's going on with this weird tattoo. And when you find them - well, they've got one too, except this one is your name. It would seem weird, except as soon as you see each other you kind of understand. Of course you'd have a tattoo with the name of the person you've found such an amazing connection with. You were meant to be together.

So enjoy your time with your newfound soulmate. Who knows, you might wake up tomorrow with a whole new name on your arm, a new connection, a new love. Make the most of it!

[It's a third option. It's waking up after a restless night where you got no actual rest, and just feel more exhausted than you were the night before. It's the feeling of having just had a night full of bad dreams. Except this time they weren't so bad.]

I'm okay, I'm just, uh, tired.

[He'll be out of commission for a couple days, probably.]

... Water would be nice, though. How did it go?

[He kind of already knows how it went, but the Visitor's memories are never in order and they're just sort of a confusing, jumbled mess.]

[Yeah that doesn't look fun. He grabs a glass from the cupboard to fill with water and hand it to Michael who looks like he needs something far stronger.]

Fine I guess. We uh... sat there.

He wanted skritches.

[Whether he needs something stronger or not, Michael takes the water with a mumbled thanks.

"He", huh. Michael's always thought of the Visitor as an "it", but maybe that's just his personal bias.]

That's, uh, new. It didn't even try to bite you or anything? And it actually liked being touched?

No. He seemed to enjoy it? Didn't want me to stop anyway.

[And then there were hugs and cuddles but he's not going to talk about that part.]

What exactly is it?

That's... a good question.

[And a hard one to answer.]

I guess it's... I don't know. Some kind of supernatural entity? There's a legend about it in my world, says it's either the ghost of a murdered witch or a demonic spirit summoned to avenge him. But to be honest, I'm not sure it's either of those things.

[That's.. okay. That sounds ridiculous but since he's just spent a full night cuddling with the thing he can't pretend it's not real.]

What do I have to do to come back as a giant bone-wolf to avenge myself when I'm killed? That's kind of awesome actually. Except for the whole living inside you thing. That part pretty much sucks.

Right now it's pretty quiet. It doesn't have a target, so it's not as riled up. It's just sort of background noise at this point? Just like a hissing sound.

[Which is better than the screeching, for sure.]

And then when it finds someone it wants to eat it starts yelling about it?

And yeah, pretty much. More like screeching. Like microphone feedback, but if it came out of a mountain lion.

[But it is a cult. And Jacob is kind of the devil, so .. It's close enough he supposes.]

And then it eats them and it's happy? Sounds like it sucks for you, listening to something whine all the time until you let it murder people.

It sucking is an understatement. You never really get used to it, it's like having really bad tinnitus. Makes it hard to resist it, but you know, I'm... trying.

[It's actually kinda funny. Yikes. He hasn't heard anyone say that word in years.]

If you didn't it would probably have killed everyone here by now. I'm guessing there aren't a lot of innocent non-combatants around. We have more soldiers than anything else.

I try not to think about how many people here have... you know. It only knows what I know, so as long as I stay ignorant, it's fine.

Not really? I mean, if I knew what they were going to say anyway, that's the same thing. It's in my head, it knows what I know.

I, uh, yeah. I get it in bits and pieces, and it's always confusing and out of order, but I can usually put things together.

Okay that sounds way stupider now that I've said it outloud. Is that a real thing that people do? Or is that a movie thing?

To be honest, I don't know if it's real, or if it would work, and I'm really not willing to find out. It sounds kind of like a nightmare.

Yeah it.. doesn't seem to work well for anyone in movies.

I guess you just gotta live with it? Maybe it won't be so bad?

I guess I'll get more and more... I don't know. Not control over it, maybe, but I'll get better at resisting. I think I already have, a little bit.
