Oh shit, what even happened last night? You're pretty sure you had a normal night, no crazy drunk antics (unless that is your normal night). But this morning you woke up with a brand new tattoo, and it's... a name?
Maybe it's a name you recognize, one of your good friends. Maybe it's a stranger. Maybe it's someone you can barely stand. No matter who it is, you kind of feel like you should look for them and figure out what's going on with this weird tattoo. And when you find them - well, they've got one too, except this one is your name. It would seem weird, except as soon as you see each other you kind of understand. Of course you'd have a tattoo with the name of the person you've found such an amazing connection with. You were meant to be together.
So enjoy your time with your newfound soulmate. Who knows, you might wake up tomorrow with a whole new name on your arm, a new connection, a new love. Make the most of it!► This log covers February 14th-February 22nd
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you try to pull off a stupid stunt to impress your soulmate and fail so miserably you die, please let us know here.

That's one good thing about this place. The others here, from my world - my family. They're from...further ahead than I am. From my future.
[ Or she's from their past, though that's a somewhat more unnerving way of thinking about it. ]
They say we have stopped it. That we won.

[The beams, truly happy for Lucretia. She’d be happy for her even without the soulmate effects — any time evil was vanquished was reason for celebration, but even moreso, when she felt so connected to her. She didn’t know these people hardly at all and yet she felt a swell of pride for what they accomplished.]
My friends are from just a few vargas ahead of me, but things were grim for all of us.
[Earth run over and under Galra occupation. It was a nightmare for all of them, even if it was the first Allura had laid eyes on the planet.]
I hope someday we will be able to say the same. I have been at war with the Galra for over ten-thousand years. Sometimes I cannot imagine a time after.

[ It's not the most important part, but she's curious anyway. She nods, her brow furrowed in concern. Allura and her friends are just as much strangers to Lucretia as the IPRE crew must be to her, but she finds herself invested in their wellbeing all the same. ]
I hope so as well. It only took us a century or so, but even that seemed to last forever. I can't imagine ten thousand years of war.

[It's a fair question.
(And Allura can't help but be a little disappointed that her soulmate doesn't use a rational form of time-telling. Then again, she'd be too close to perfect, then.)Allura nods, solemnly,] I was put into stasis for much of it, but sometimes remembering time before the war seems difficult.
[And she's lucky enough to have memories from before. Most didn't have that luxury and have lived their entire lives under Galra occupation.]
no subject
[ Sorry Allura, she's about to disappoint you again. She leans forward, eyes wide. ]
You've been alive that entire time?
no subject
I have... [Said matter-of-factly, if not with a somber note.] It passed in only the blink of an eye for me, but by the time I woke up, my planet, and my people had been lost.
[More or less, but the fate of the remaining Alteans was a sensitive one that she wasn't sure she was ready to tell, even to someone like Lucretia.]
no subject
Ten thousand years, though, is still a little beyond her. She shakes her head, not understanding. ]
You were...asleep?
no subject
My people have technology that can... [She struggles for the words, waving her hands a little,] Freeze people. For a period of time. So while I have technically been alive for ten-thousand years it was as if someone had just paused me for a time.
no subject
It sounds cold.
[ And...a little familiar. But not too familiar. ]
You didn't age, that whole time?
[ She's assuming. Allura looks pretty good for ten thousand years old. ]
no subject
I suppose it depends on your definition of aging.
[She taps her finger on her chin, debating semantics. Technically she was alive for all of those years, but that's not really what Lucretia is asking, is it?]
Physiologically, I am the same as when I was first put to sleep. It is as if time stopped around me while it continued to flow for the rest of the universe.

I was - we were on our ship for a hundred years. Longer than most humans ever live.
But I was the same age when our journey ended as when it began.
no subject
A hundred years. [She's been around humans long enough to have an idea of what kind of number that is.] Truthfully, I'm not sure if there's been long-term effects. I have only been out of stasis for a decaphoebe — a year or so.
[Hm] I feel as if I'm older, at least.
[In a universal, grand-scheme sort of way. She's definitely not nearly the person she was when their adventure first started.]
But you look very youthful- for a one-hundred year-old.
no subject
For a one-hundred-year old, certainly. Thank you.
[ She doesn't look young by any other standards any longer, but she's come to terms with that. ]
Yes...I feel older, too.
