Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.
But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.
Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.
Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.► This log covers May 16th-26th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► You can't die in the dreams, but if you somehow manage to trip and fall and kill yourself getting out of bed, please report it on the death post.

Why? You think somebody's gonna come find him, or something? He was nowhere near here, man; trust me, don't worry about it.
no subject
So you kidnapped him? Shit, you wanna get the feds all upset? The hell do you want, anyway?
no subject
[ He's gonna go ahead and ignore that 'feds' thing to avoid having to ask if he misheard. ]
I don't care if you wanna act crazy, but you don't need to do it around me. And there's other guys who might not take it so well if you tell 'em to put free food back where they found it, just so you know.
[ He bends down to pick the nearly-departed up, slinging him over his shoulder. ]
no subject
[Ugh. Gross. Firo'd hoped he'd never have to see anymore cannibalism in his life, but apparently that was a tall order.
And it's more serious now, considering how Dragon only took... nibbles, really. Firo has a feeling--given the size of the grill, and he wishes he'd noticed earlier--that this guy won't be as fortunate as those other victims.
He growls and tries to grab this man's arm.]
Hey! What the hell're you doin'? That's just sick!
no subject
Kid. I don't know where the hell you came from or how it was, but don't fuckin' side with humans around here. Trust me, they wouldn't do the same for you. Probably just as soon shoot you.
no subject
So what? Maybe he's never done anything for me, but he's never done anything against me either.
[Yet. This man has a point with that--most people are dicks. But Firo wouldn't respond to dickery by eating someone even if that had happened here. Which it hasn't.]
Even if he's done somethin' to you, just solve it the normal way.
no subject
[ He drops his cargo, roughly, and splays his fingers—a moment ago they were normal, but now they taper into long, sharp claws. ]
no subject
Why don't you just try it, huh?
[He reaches for his knife--usually right at his belt--but it's not there for some reason. Whatever, he doesn't need it. He lets his muscles relax, ready to react.]
no subject
no subject
[He can't avoid the grab, but he does try to hurl himself at the guy's legs as he falls--maybe he can take him with him.
At least this'll be a distraction from the snack, he hopes. Or a change of target, which is less fun for Firo.]
no subject
Do you wanna die? I said get the fuck outta here!
no subject
He watches cautiously, wary of any apparent mercy. It could always be a trick.]
Come on, isn't there an easier way for you to eat? If you keep doin' stuff like this, people're gonna notice. A guy I met in prison was in for stuff just like this. Only reason he didn't get the chair is probably because he didn't kill 'em.
no subject
[ His jaw shifts and he looks away. Yes? Maybe? What kind of question is that!! ]
You should be worried about yourself. I can't let you live.
[ Except he's still leaning against the side of the firepit. He pushes himself up and takes what's supposed to be a menacing step forward. ]
no subject
Showing fear at a time like this has never helped anyone, so he keeps his tone even. There's a hint of curiosity in his voice.]
Then why haven't you done anything yet?
[He doesn't drop his guard an inch--maybe that's just the invitation this guy was waiting for.]
no subject
no subject
Firo ducks down as he waits for the impact. His aim isn't to dodge but to get low to catch the guy when he comes at him. If he can, he'll grab at the hands going for his neck and shove back.]
How 'bout you answer if you're gonna kill me anyway?
[Firo doesn't plan to let that happen, of course, but this is all part of his strategy. Or would be, if anything he'd thought of could be called a strategy.]
no subject
Why the fuck do you care!
no subject
Idly, he thinks that this guy's grip may be stronger than Berga's, so he digs in his heels and stands his ground instead of trying to wiggle out.]
Maybe I'm just curious. Anybody'd be.
[At least, anybody as stupid as Firo would be.]
no subject
I don't feel like gutting anybody else right now. Go home.
[ Which is a pathetic thing to say right after telling somebody you can't let them live, but here he is. He turns back to empty place on the floor where his would-be victim was. There's not even a bloodstain. ]
The fuck did you do?
no subject
Firo follows his gaze and blinks in surprise.]
I didn't do anything--you were lookin' at me the whole time.
Think he crawled off?
[Good for him. It does seem impossibly speedy, though, for a guy in that condition. And not even a trace? Something's up.]
no subject
He was right there! That doesn't make any sense.
no subject
[He's pretty sure neither of them could've done anything... So what other explanation is there?
He tilts his head when he hears that cough.]
What's wrong with you?
[Despite the blunt tone, there's no particular malice in his voice, just curiosity. Is he sick?]
no subject
Nothing, I just had to quit smoking.
[ He freezes, suddenly, with his hand at the base of his throat.
That's right: he had to quit smoking. They'd run out.
The edges of the environment, the little clearing ringed by trees around the pavilion, are getting darker, less distinct. ]
Wait, who are you?
no subject
He doesn't yet notice the fading background, but he does notice that body language--it doesn't exactly set him at ease.]
Me? Firo Prochainezo. Martillo Family.
[Their name means nothing here--wherever here is--but it comes out automatically. He tilts his head.]
Who're you?
no subject
Gojyo.
[ He turns to the empty spot on the floor, and then quickly back To Firo with something to say—but whatever it is dissipates with the dream. ]
