Event Log: Dreamwalker

Who: Everyone!
What: The Dreamwalker event
Where: In your comfy bed and your sleepy head.
When: May 16th-26th
Warnings: Good dreams, weird dreams, bad dreams, straight-up nightmares. Please remember to tag for warnings in the header if things are going to be bad!

Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.

But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.

Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.

Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.

[Only Bianca would call her that. Emily smiles as she turns to her guest.]

For a while, yeah. [Which she'd never tell anyone, but... they're already here, right? Jess and Emily have achieved their dreams. Why shouldn't she talk about their victory, what they conquered?] We had a really bad fight once. I thought-- I thought we'd never talk to each other again after that.

It's harder than it looks to destroy real affection. What happened?

[Emily shrugs and gives a short, bitter laugh.] Some guy left me for her. We were all friends, and... I felt like, how could they do that to me? And neither of them was sorry.

[She crosses the office, heads for the couches, stands in the sunlight, her back to the windows.]

But then we... went through some things that made us realize none of that was worth staying mad over.

"That would be hard to forgive."

This, from Bianca, is something of an understatement; the last time one of her lovers had feelings for another woman, she edited his memory. But that's a story that shows her in a bad light, and she doesn't tell it.

"What sort of things?"

"Yeah."

More than anything, it was Jess and Mike's refusal to admit they'd wronged her that bothered Emily. How dare they?

But that was so long ago, and it doesn't really matter anymore.

"We got... attacked. By wendigos. Jessica almost got killed." Emily shrugs, like it's nothing, a shawl she can just cast off with so little effort. It's not. In waking life, she's still bothered by it, and probably always will be. "Didn't really seem worth it to stay mad at her after that. Who gives a shit about boys." She glances at her wedding band, turns her hand over to watch the light shine on it. "There was someone better out there anyway."
