Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.
But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.
Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.
Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.► This log covers May 16th-26th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► You can't die in the dreams, but if you somehow manage to trip and fall and kill yourself getting out of bed, please report it on the death post.

There's no real pity for himself here; Mello has made a thorough analysis of the options. He considered trying to tell Near, but decided it would be ineffective. He also considered letting Near go ahead with his plan, to let Light Yagami write his name in the notebook, and found it unacceptable. This is a move of pure strategy on Mello's part.
Lazy makes him pick up his head and turn to fix a dead stare on Ai. Mello is many things, but lazy has never been one. She clearly has no idea who he is, and there would be a lot more anger in his expression if this weren't a dream. Instead, he just looks sad that she doesn't understand, and tired.
"'All courses of action are risky,'" he quotes, "'so prudence is not in avoiding danger - it's impossible - but calculating risk and acting decisively.' That's what I'm doing here - acting decisively." He frowns, chewing lightly on his bottom lip. "Do you really think this is what I wanted?" He shakes his head. "It's not. If there was any other way to reach this objective, I would have found it."

Must be nice to boil it all down to a series of analyses. To not have any doubts about what he's already concluded. Ai can't imagine living like that. It's all to logical and robotic and lacking in spontaneity and fun.
She tilts her head an eyebrow raised, yes she did just call him lazy. Though she wouldn't go so far as to say she doesn't know him at all. They've had enough interaction for her to form a basic idea of who he is so far. It's a little flat since he's usually annoyed by her general presence but she's seen enough to at least assume he doesn't like not doing things.
"Decisively into your grave." She mutters. The quote isn't familiar, though it sounds like one of those things people pulled out of old books just to sound smart. Maybe it was something she should have known, there were a lot of pieces of literature she never got around to reading for class oops. "You ever just try simple? Probably would have worked a lot better than sitting here waiting for your last breath to rattle in your chest."
no subject
Mello gives her a disappointed shake of his head, turning again to face the darkness past the dashboard. It's easier to look at nothing than to continue seeing the judgment in her eyes. "Important things rarely are simple." He takes in a breath and sighs. "You don't understand what it's like, to believe in something so important that you are willing to die for it. You can't possibly know what this is like."
no subject
She rolls her eyes at him. He can be disappointed in her all he wants it won't change how she feels about this or his decision making abilities. "Things are only as complicated as you make them." In her experience most things have simple roots, it only got complicated when you added people and relationships. Both things that aren't exactly avoidable but she does understand believing in something truly important she'd be willing to die for it. She understands it better than he might think. Enough so that she might not be sitting here to disapprove of him and this choice.
All she can do is snort at his claim, "You barely know me Mello. You can't judge what I do and don't believe in strongly."
no subject
Mello closes his eyes and leans his forehead against the steering wheel. He's tired - tired of fighting, tired of waiting, tired of explaining himself to someone who refuses to see his point of view. "You can go now."
no subject
You know it isn't so much a refusal to see his point of view as it's she doesn't feel like sharing how she nearly jumped off the roof of her school for something she felt was important. Ai really doesn't feel like sharing that with someone that the majority of the time annoys her entirely and definitely doesn't like for that matter, so she lets her feet slide off the edge of the chair. Tucks her hair behind her ear and tries the door, hearing the familiar click of the latch releasing and turns to slide out to the ground. "Fine, but you're still an idiot."
Yes she has to have the last word.
