Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.
But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.
Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.
Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.► This log covers May 16th-26th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► You can't die in the dreams, but if you somehow manage to trip and fall and kill yourself getting out of bed, please report it on the death post.

It found me. I did not know what I was looking for.
[ She motions for Adam to come sit with her. The grass is so nice. ]
I am glad it did.

It knew what it was looking for. I think it always does.
[He walks over, sitting next to her.]
This is Cabeswater.

[ Maybe god isn't quite the right word, but this place does remind Arya of a godswood. It has power, knowledge, and beauty of a godswood, for sure. Perhaps this is what the world looked like before humans. Arya wouldn't be surprised. ]
If you are of this place, are you a god too?
[ Adam could be a god. He'd be pretty good at it, probably. ]

But him? No.]
No. I'm nothing like that. If anything, I'm - a priest, I guess.
[It seems strange to put it that way, but he has to admit it's accurate.]
I belong to Cabeswater, or part of me does. What power I have is given to me by it.

Perhaps you're a prophet.
[ Priests walk the halls of the House of Black and White. They deemed her father's execution lawful, by the laws of the gods. Adam is nothing like them. His power is greater, she thinks, and it makes him more secure in a way that those men never could be. ]
They have more power than priests do, in my world.

Well... back home, I took care of the ley line. Long ago, it was priestesses who did that. I guess their role might be a little more like prophets than anything.
[He doesn't really know if the role was innately feminine or if it just turned out that way, but either way it doesn't really bother him. He's sort of something else, these days.]
And I can see things, sometimes. A lot of the time.
[The trees rustle, then, agreeing, or just whispering.]
But you can do things too, right?
