Event Log: Dreamwalker

Who: Everyone!
What: The Dreamwalker event
Where: In your comfy bed and your sleepy head.
When: May 16th-26th
Warnings: Good dreams, weird dreams, bad dreams, straight-up nightmares. Please remember to tag for warnings in the header if things are going to be bad!

Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.

But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.

Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.

Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.

[ Arya beams when she sees Adam so at peace -- it's definitely a change from Hadriel, and Arya thinks it's a change for the better. Arya, too, is more tranquil. When she smiles, she looks almost twelve again. She sits up straighter, like some of the weight has been taken off her shoulders. ]

It found me. I did not know what I was looking for.

[ She motions for Adam to come sit with her. The grass is so nice. ]

I am glad it did.

[Though Adam is part of the dream, and doesn't quite recognize her for who she really is, he still know, and he knows that he likes the ease and calm he sees in her. This is someplace Arya should have come a long time ago, maybe.]

It knew what it was looking for. I think it always does.

[He walks over, sitting next to her.]

This is Cabeswater.

Of course it does. It's a god.

[ Maybe god isn't quite the right word, but this place does remind Arya of a godswood. It has power, knowledge, and beauty of a godswood, for sure. Perhaps this is what the world looked like before humans. Arya wouldn't be surprised. ]

If you are of this place, are you a god too?

[ Adam could be a god. He'd be pretty good at it, probably. ]

[Maybe Cabeswater isn't a god - maybe - but it's certainly the closest thing to one that Adam has ever seen. More so than the gods of Hadriel, who seem all too much like people to be actual gods. Cabeswater is different and alien and inhuman, powerful but oddly fragile. If anything is like a god, that would be it, Adam thinks.

But him? No.]

No. I'm nothing like that. If anything, I'm - a priest, I guess.

[It seems strange to put it that way, but he has to admit it's accurate.]

I belong to Cabeswater, or part of me does. What power I have is given to me by it.

[ Arya nods. It makes sense that Adam isn't quite a god -- he's too human for that. Gods are powerful, and sometimes beautiful, but they can often be terrible in a way that Adam isn't. ]

Perhaps you're a prophet.

[ Priests walk the halls of the House of Black and White. They deemed her father's execution lawful, by the laws of the gods. Adam is nothing like them. His power is greater, she thinks, and it makes him more secure in a way that those men never could be. ]

They have more power than priests do, in my world.

['Prophet' makes him think of something more like Blue's family, like Persephone or Calla or Maura. But maybe that's not wrong - he's definitely more like them than like what he thinks of as a priest, the churchgoing preachers and pastors.]

Well... back home, I took care of the ley line. Long ago, it was priestesses who did that. I guess their role might be a little more like prophets than anything.

[He doesn't really know if the role was innately feminine or if it just turned out that way, but either way it doesn't really bother him. He's sort of something else, these days.]

And I can see things, sometimes. A lot of the time.

[The trees rustle, then, agreeing, or just whispering.]

But you can do things too, right?
