Event Log: Dreamwalker

What: The Dreamwalker event
Where: In your comfy bed and your sleepy head.
When: May 16th-26th
Warnings: Good dreams, weird dreams, bad dreams, straight-up nightmares. Please remember to tag for warnings in the header if things are going to be bad!

Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.

But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.

Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.

Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.

[Hakkai closes his eyes for a moment and pinches the bridge of his nose as if trying to refocus his own mind. He reopens them and finds things...off. As familiar a setting this is, it's a dream. It's still just a dream.]

Yes. I'm okay.

[He rights the chair and sits down. He tries to normalize the dream, even just a little by calling attention to the things around them.]

It's stopped raining. That's good, right?

[He listens out carefully and heightens his awareness to see if anything responds to his attempts at redirection.]

[ The lights seem to stabilize, but the heavy strangeness in the air is still there. ]

Why, you wanna go back out? It's like one in the morning.

[ The clock on the wall confirms it. Gojyo grins, propping his chin on his arms. ]

Don't be like me.

[stepford_smiler]

[Hakkai looks at the clock and sees that it is indeed 'one in the morning'.

He smiles just a little.]

Rain makes it a bit difficult to sleep. But you don't have to worry about me going out at this time.

[He's still a bit wary of where this dream might turn, but he's glad it's stabilized at least a little bit.]

[inappropriatelaughter]

[ Gojyo thumps the back of his chair against the table and watches Hakkai, somewhere between bored and content. ]

So you're gonna go to sleep?

[ Thump, thump. He tilts his head, cajoling. ]

We could do somethin' else.

[Even with as smart as Hakkai is, the only thoughts of 'doing something else' went to cards, walking around the town night life, and alcohol.]

Like what?

[inappropriatelaughter]

Liiiiiike—

[ Like what.

In a second he's on top of the table, on his stomach, pulling himself closer. The towel around his neck he drops on the floor; he's reaching for the collar of Hakkai's shirt with both hands— ]

I dunno. What do you wanna do?

[Gojyo clamoring for him like this is a foreign gesture. This wasn't what he was expecting. His eyes widen a bit with surprise and uncertainty. Why is Gojyo reaching for him like this? Why does Gojyo have that kind of expression on his face?

He could feel Gojyo's fingertips brushing the cloth of his collar and his heart gives one solid thud in his chest in alarm.

Before he can react in a less volatile manner, he grasps one of Gojyo's wrists with a firm grip and twists it around so that his palm is facing upwards painfully.]

[inappropriatelaughter]

[ He sucks in a pained breath and rolls with it automatically to protect his arm, and it stops him dead, just like it's supposed to—

And the dream is gone, just like that. ]
