Event Log: Dreamwalker

What: The Dreamwalker event
Where: In your comfy bed and your sleepy head.
When: May 16th-26th
Warnings: Good dreams, weird dreams, bad dreams, straight-up nightmares. Please remember to tag for warnings in the header if things are going to be bad!

Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.

But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.

Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.

Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.

[ Adam is definitely making good progress! Arya is very proud. ]

She is amazing. [ Arya is proud of Nymeria, too, and proud of herself for having a wolf dream at last. ] She's far more powerful than I am. I would have those wolf dreams all the time, before.

[ Arya says, a little wistfully. The night wolf kept her same. Gave her hope, gave her some kind of power. ]

Now you're in her pack, too. [ Arya nudges Adam a little. ] She has many wolf-sisters, but her brothers are far away.

Then I really am lucky.

[He's not sure exactly what it means, being in her pack, but Adam thinks it's probably a great honor. And he's been excluded often enough - he's so rarely felt like he's wanted somewhere. It's a little thing, but it makes him strangely happy.]

I can try to be a temporary replacement, at least. And hey, if you had one dream, maybe you'll have more. I dream about my forest sometimes.

[And he thinks Arya is connected to her wolf - maybe not the same way, because Adam has a piece of Cabeswater with him even here, but there's definitely a connection.]

You don't have to replace anyone.

[ Although it is true that Adam reminds her of Jon -- same reserved personality, same practicality, same feeling of safety that Arya gets when she's around him. ]

You can just be you.

[ It's too hard, and too tiring, to be someone else. Arya's learned that over and over again, and she doesn't wish that for Adam. ]

[He's quiet for a moment, and then he nods. It's hard not to smile, but not in a condescending way - rather because somehow Arya seems to know the right thing to say. It's not often that Adam is simply accepted for who he is, instead of what people think he is or should be.]

I can do that.

[He thinks about it again, the wolves running through that forest, the feeling of freedom and wildness that came along with it.]

Thank you, Arya. I've seen a lot of magical things, but I never imagined something like that.
