Who: People involved in the post-Nate skewering (Elena, Caedra, Lup, Taako, Nate, am I missing anyone... What: Nate's dead! Then he's not. Where: /vague handwave When: Backdateeeeed Warnings: Almost certainly violence
[Elena doesn't mourn. Not at first, not exactly, because mourning is not the appropriate word; that comes later, when a person's had time to process and accept and start the grieving process. Normal people, anyway.
She's not as normal as she seems. Maybe that's because of Hadriel, maybe that's because of the life she's lived. But Elena doesn't cry. She doesn't do much of anything, for a while, but before it's long enough to reach 'fugue state' status, her eyes snap open, she stands up, and she moves briskly. She knows what she needs to do. Whether that's a good idea, well. Standards go out the window when her husband's been murdered.
Doesn't mean she'll do the maybe-terrible idea on her own, though.]
I'm going after her. Come with me, or don't, but I'm going.
[Elena can play this whole scenario however she likes, but Lup doesn't need the excuse to tap into her anger, both of her hands curled tightly at her sides, ears pinned back in obvious irritation. It's been enough of a week already with Barry up and disappearing into thin air, so to hear that Nate's been murdered? That after escaping every single thing this world's thrown at him again and again only to be taken out by one of the folks trapped in here with them? Sure, Caedra hasn't been completely quiet around Hadriel, but she's kept well enough off of Lup's radar.
Until now. Until this.
Elena bristles and rises and Lup is right there with her.]
Not because he won't keep them, but it's an ultimatum, and he should have known better to tell Nathan Drake, Idiot Extraordinaire, that he'd do something if he was in danger. Like, he's still going to do it, of course he is, but leave it to someone to not watch their back enough when they think the cavalry's coming. So here they are! Here they fucking are.
At least he wasn't there watching a body lose it's life again, a little girl on the couch succumbing to something no one should have endured.]
Elena, in what bullshit world where murder is legal would we ever not be coming with you.
[As if legality would stop them anyway- any of them.]
I didn't. I thought you might try to keep me here while you went after her.
[That's not happening. They'd have to magically bind here to keep her from following, and while she knows they could do that, she also knows they won't. More than anyone else in Hadriel, Lup and Taako understand the magnitude of what she's lost, and what a person has to do in response to that loss—that theft.
It doesn't matter that death isn't always the end here. She can't let herself think about that for more than a few seconds because if she lets herself hope and it doesn't happen, the pain will somehow be ten times worse than it is now.]
[If the situation was any less heavy, if there was even an inch of breathing room between them, the twins would spin this into a joke, to tease Elena about keeping her here with magic, to laugh about the idea of the non-magical one in their badass trio leading the way.
But nothing is quite as serious as this moment. For once, Lup doesn't quip, doesn't make light. She just prepares to dutifully follow her friend to the lair of her husband's murderer.
And then they are going to slaughter the demon where she stands.
Lup doesn't say another word, she just follows, draped in her familiar red cloak, ready for the fight to come.]
[Yeah, sure, he's gonna be the guy stupid enough to stand between Elena and something she's mad at. He's the one she's decked in the face before, so he knows that's useless as hell. The best thing for them is to be able to let her get a shot in, and then decimate this fucker before she gets in any more damage. Elena gets to feel like she did something, and vengeance gets handed. Easy peasy.
He follows too, but Taako's mind is on survival, and Elena is the unknown here.]
So you got a plan? Or is it just total annihilation sorta deal? Don't wanna step on your murder toes or anything.
[It's Elena and two of her dearest friends, among the most powerful people she's ever met, as backup. Or fronting from the back, because regardless of Taako's concern for the propriety of the situation, she's well aware that she doesn't have the most strength here.
Her grief and fury will have to be enough to make up the difference, then.]
I was thinking I'd shoot her and we can go from there.
[As easily as the rage boils within her, as natural and freeing as it may feel, Lup and Taako's first job is to keep Elena safe. Let the woman get her hit in, then safely usher her out of the way while the twins take over and the real light show begins.
Caedra needs to be taken out, sure, but more than that, Elena needs to be kept from kicking it in the process. There's already been too much death and loss as of late. Besides, Nate would never forgive them.]
That's one way to get shit done.
[The elves may have doubt about guns versus whatever the fuck Caedra really is, but if anyone can make this work, it's Elena. Her and Nate have had to run with less in the past, she's got this.]
So you get a few shots in first and then 'Ko and I can join in, yeah?
lup taako caedra etc
