Event Log: Null Attack

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the Null Attack event
Where: All over the city
When: May 29th- ?
Warnings: None

What starts as a normal day will begin to herald in the beginning of the end. On May 29th, you might see something in the sky out of the corner of your eye- blink and you miss it, but there's definitely something there, something that's not any kind of animal you've ever seen. Now that you know to look, you may be paying closer attention to the sky in order to catch the next one that flies past- a ship. A ship that that seems to be designed in a way that might remind you of the Null themselves.

As the days pass, it becomes unmistakable- the Null are here and are scouting out the area. It's time to prepare for an immediate attack and start putting all those contingency plans to good use. Will you gear up for a fight and fall into formation? Will you close and lock your doors and stay inside? Or perhaps there's some other plan that you want to enact?

You'll have time to discuss that on the network later, but now you need to start reacting to the Null's actions- which are apparently to start building smaller encampments around the city as they try to find the way inside. Confusion is holding them at bay for now but it might be time to start building some defensive measures and fortifications, because she won't be able to keep them at bay forever.

When they break in, they do so in a big way- with a massive explosion at Confusion's temple that rattles throughout the entire city. It's obvious that something has happened- and what exactly that something is reveals itself shortly when Null begin to flood the city, having broken through Confusion's protection.

This is when the fight escalates to an all-out war. Nobody is spared, and they're watching everyone from above. What will you do? How will you keep the ones you love safe? How can anyone survive this? All you can do is fight back, all we can do is wait. Good luck, Hadriel.

You're doing great! [ Laura's come a long way; they all have. Cecily barely has time to flash the other woman a grin before she fires her own arrows out into the Null, dodging an attack here and there, occasionally glancing over to see what the other is doing. This will be a long and brutal fight, and they're not going to be able to do this forever, but... ]

Watch your back! [ The rogue unleashes a long shot that streaks through the Null that had been approaching Laura with a powerful speed. Cecily exhales with relief, then, as her friend is spared the attack, but there are more than enough Null to worry about that a single victory doesn't merit much celebration. ]

Thanks! [if anyone had asked Laura Palmer two years ago if she'd be guarding the back of one of her best friends as crazy, monster machines were attacking, she'd have laughed herself sick. but again, things change. even her.

maybe especially her]

Motherfucker! [she dodges and does her best to keep up the assault of arrows at the motherfucking Null, but there are just so many of them. she's doing her best to not let that slow her down, aiming at the Null even as she dodges] Eat shit, assholes!

Language! [ Not really. The Inquisitor laughs as the pair of them shoot down a decent amount of Null, making sure to keep an eye on Laura's blind spots while minding her own. There are other fighters in the area, other citizens of Hadriel who are taking down Null enough on their own, but... ]

I hope this doesn't end up being our last stand, [ Cecily notes loudly, having to whip out her dagger to dispatch a nearby assailant. ] I'd quite like to be able to see the end of it.

C'mon, they deserve it! [she says, laughing. Laura's good, but still has room for improvement. or maybe it's just that the processors are so small and always in different places that she always has to use at least three arrows per Null. sooner or later, she's going to run out and she doesn't have a Plan B]

You will. [she says with a confidence she doesn't feel] We're gonna get out of this, then go have drinks at the Speakeasy.

It's a plan, then. [ No, she doesn't think that they're going to die here. She has to believe - and does - that they'll make it back, that she can return to Thedas to see everyone again. Beyond that, she believes the people of Hadriel will see each other again, too, even after the Door spits them back out again into their homes.

She has to believe it. ]

Not getting tired yet, I hope? [ Cecily asks, a little breathless, as another wave creeps in from around the city's buildings and toward the temple. ]

I'm holding you to it. [Laura's not so sure. she knows that without her bow, she's still an ordinary seventeen year old girl.

okay, maybe not that ordinary. not anymore. can anyone who's been here a significant length of time claim ordinary? she doubts it. all she knows is, she wants to go to Thedas and be useful. that's not asking too much, is it?]

Nope! Running out of arrows, though, which is not good. [seriously, more of these guys? nothing she can do about it other than keep firing while she can]
