Event Log: Null Attack

What: The event log for the Null Attack event
Where: All over the city

What starts as a normal day will begin to herald in the beginning of the end. On May 29th, you might see something in the sky out of the corner of your eye- blink and you miss it, but there's definitely something there, something that's not any kind of animal you've ever seen. Now that you know to look, you may be paying closer attention to the sky in order to catch the next one that flies past- a ship. A ship that that seems to be designed in a way that might remind you of the Null themselves.

As the days pass, it becomes unmistakable- the Null are here and are scouting out the area. It's time to prepare for an immediate attack and start putting all those contingency plans to good use. Will you gear up for a fight and fall into formation? Will you close and lock your doors and stay inside? Or perhaps there's some other plan that you want to enact?

You'll have time to discuss that on the network later, but now you need to start reacting to the Null's actions- which are apparently to start building smaller encampments around the city as they try to find the way inside. Confusion is holding them at bay for now but it might be time to start building some defensive measures and fortifications, because she won't be able to keep them at bay forever.

When they break in, they do so in a big way- with a massive explosion at Confusion's temple that rattles throughout the entire city. It's obvious that something has happened- and what exactly that something is reveals itself shortly when Null begin to flood the city, having broken through Confusion's protection.

This is when the fight escalates to an all-out war. Nobody is spared, and they're watching everyone from above. What will you do? How will you keep the ones you love safe? How can anyone survive this? All you can do is fight back, all we can do is wait. Good luck, Hadriel.

[Alphys is beyond happy that Aqua is here by her side. It's not that she wanted to take someone's bonded weapon, but when it was given with such belief-- she had to be able to do this right, truly right for her sake. At the very least, she's gotten summoning the thing down so she isn't left weaponless, but of course her physical strength leaves a few things to be desired. Her time in Hadriel has made her more lithe though, having run more out of necessity and missing many of her old junk food staples. She's still chubby, though. Alphys is trying to think of it as bulk, like a video game tank.

Not that she ever thought she'd be a tank, really, she played more healers, but is she a dps now, it'soH GOD NULL ARE HERE RIGHT--]

[She turns left, brandishing her blade and letting it take a step in range, moving once it seems to settle with an upward strike up its chassis. It stumbles back, Alphys' hits not as strong, but absolutely damaged.

Thankfully, Alphys has wisdom to impart here too.]

[Despite her natural inclination, Alphys wields hey Keyblade—the proof of the strength in her heart—with more determination than Aqua can remember having when she'd been so new to the power. She'd be proud, if she had time.]

[Physical power isn't her forte—that had always been Terra. But although her strength lies in magic, Aqua knows she's no slouch in one-on-one combat. She charges forward, slashing out at the Null in a flurry of blows, breaking them open. It seems to work—but there are so many of them, and more close in then, leaving her exposed to attack.]

[The only reason she's doing so well is because she's spent a long time in her room with an offbrand Naruto headband on kicking and punching the air. This feels so impossibly unreal, she's just tossing herself in the way she's seen video game characters do and it's working a solid 70% of the time. It feels like a dream. Like an awakening into a magical reality, the powerful person she always wanted to be. She'll exhaust herself for this chance, for this thing she's only ever dreamed of having. She can't let Aqua down. Not at all.

Even if Alphys is staggered by the speed and efficiency of which Aqua moves, her own actions feeling clunky in comparison, she can see where a Null charges forward to down Aqua. At least staring at her mentor is technically a lookout. Alphys points towards it, which is fairly useless when she's behind her, but she's trying.]

On the right! It's coming!

[She tries to run forward to catch it, blade out in front of her, but behind her the one she struck is advancing again to grab her tail behind her.]

[Aqua dodges, then spins in place to aim another devastating spell—another Null goes down, but there are more to come. Still, she's smiling as she takes a second shot at the one coming for her apprentice.]

I knew you could do this.

[She moves so effortlessly, it's everything Alphys has not to stare like an absolute dingus. She's beautiful, and part of her wonders if she could ever look like that. But right on cue, Aqua blasts right over her shoulder and she's reminded there's still others, and she yells and twists behind her, bringing the key alongside. It slams into the side and she almost lets go of it, arms shaking with the impact as it stumbles sideways.]

I-- is this doing it?? I have no idea if this is good!

[Alphys is a bit too preoccupied to remind herself to take compliments in all this.]

It's great!

[Could her form be better? Her moves more precise? Of course. On the other hand, they're alive—so as far as Aqua is concerned, Alphys is doing exactly what she needs to.]
