Event Log: Null Attack

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the Null Attack event
Where: All over the city
When: May 29th- ?
Warnings: None

What starts as a normal day will begin to herald in the beginning of the end. On May 29th, you might see something in the sky out of the corner of your eye- blink and you miss it, but there's definitely something there, something that's not any kind of animal you've ever seen. Now that you know to look, you may be paying closer attention to the sky in order to catch the next one that flies past- a ship. A ship that that seems to be designed in a way that might remind you of the Null themselves.

As the days pass, it becomes unmistakable- the Null are here and are scouting out the area. It's time to prepare for an immediate attack and start putting all those contingency plans to good use. Will you gear up for a fight and fall into formation? Will you close and lock your doors and stay inside? Or perhaps there's some other plan that you want to enact?

You'll have time to discuss that on the network later, but now you need to start reacting to the Null's actions- which are apparently to start building smaller encampments around the city as they try to find the way inside. Confusion is holding them at bay for now but it might be time to start building some defensive measures and fortifications, because she won't be able to keep them at bay forever.

When they break in, they do so in a big way- with a massive explosion at Confusion's temple that rattles throughout the entire city. It's obvious that something has happened- and what exactly that something is reveals itself shortly when Null begin to flood the city, having broken through Confusion's protection.

This is when the fight escalates to an all-out war. Nobody is spared, and they're watching everyone from above. What will you do? How will you keep the ones you love safe? How can anyone survive this? All you can do is fight back, all we can do is wait. Good luck, Hadriel.

[It's a terrible joke, but Elena has occasionally been accused of having a terrible sense of humor, so it gets a small snort.]

It's what his best friend and partner said, but I'm totally going to tell Nate that you don't believe he could be wise.

[No she won't.]

[Don't encourage his shitty humor just kidding DO]

Wow, I didn't say that! I mean, I guess I technically said that, but still!

Can't take it back, it's out there forever.

[Or until she forgets about it when the next Null attacks.]

Aw, man. Well fine, I'll just worry about the fallout from that one later.

[He waves a hand dismissively and takes a second to look over his web shooters, making sure they're all still in good working order. It would be pretty bad if they decided to break in the middle of all this.]

You been holding up okay?

I'm still alive and moving, so...okay enough.

[The words are joking, but the tone is sincere.]

Honestly, this is almost going a little too well. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, and find out a giant robot leg is inside it.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing. Either we're just really good at this, or the Null have something else planned. I'm really hoping it's the first thing.

[Knowing their luck though, that's probably not the case. The Null are going to pull some crazy stunts, Peter's pretty sure of it.]

They don't strike me as creative. Just relentless. [She shakes her head.] I'm not sure one is better than the other in this scenario. Makes me glad as hell Taako and Lup started offering magic lessons, though.

I'm gonna say this is better. They may be relentless, but they're also predictable and it's pretty easy to steer around. If they had these numbers and the capacity to strategize, we would have already lost.

[Maybe entertaining the possibility of losing isn't the best thing to do right now. Peter clears his throat a little awkwardly and just rolls with the new, less depressing topic.]

Magic though, yeah! I tried my hand at it for a bit, but I guess it's not really my jam. Did they teach you some stuff?

[Do Not]

Yeah, they taught me to blow things up. Which let me stop you right there, I know it's not a surprise that they'd teach me that, but they honestly tried to teach other stuff. [She shrugs.] Turns out I'm just best at blowing things up.

[Seems like that should be more of a Nate thing.]
