Who: The characters accompanying [Name] to the ice planet
What: The closed event log for the virus upload
Where: On the ice planet, at the Null communications array
When: June 15th
Warnings: None

It's time. There's a plan that needs to be put into motion, and you're the ones who volunteered to do it. You know going in that it's going to be dangerous - but there's no other choice. This is the end, and it's you or the Null.

Upon arrival, you have a little time to prepare. The Null don't know you're there at first, and once they do there's a delay of a few hours before they're in position to fight back. Now's the time to set up defenses or anything else that might help you stay alive. You have to know the fight will be hard, because they know their lives are on the line, too.

Then, the Null attack. With everything they have, they try to stop you, try to beat past your defenses to get to [Name] and stop it from uploading the killswitch. Fear helps out, and the sky goes dark, but it won't last forever. When Fear flees, that particular defense is gone... along with any chance of getting out of there. Here's where those without courage might break, because it certainly looks like it could be a last stand. It doesn't help that Hope can't reach you here either, that any deaths will not be resurrected during the battle.

But it does end. With very little warning, [Name] completes its task. It goes dark, and as it does, the other Null see their end coming. They cannot stop it, they cannot escape. They crumple to the ground, all consciousness and animation gone from them.

And then you're alone on the ice planet. Tend your wounds, mourn your dead, and hope that someone will come for you before the cold does.

[Okay that's... really impressive.]

Damn. Of course. That'd make this too easy.

[Even with all these people who have powers and magic they still seem to be just on the edge of losing this battle. It's lucky they're there or the regular humans would have been massacred long ago.]

So healing and kick ass attack powers. That's crazy helpful.

[he casts Pratt a look over his shoulder and then breaks into a smug smirk.]

...the healing is mostly my own brain and two hands. The power just makes it go faster.

[his gray eyes flick to the side and he raises his sword to point] ...on your right! Coming up fast!

So it like.. augments stuff? That's awesome.

[He twists around immediately, knife at the ready. Sure charging at robots that have guns isn't the smartest plan but it's undeniably effective as they never seem to see it coming. He has this one knocked to the ground and is stabbing the shit out of it in no time. ]

What do you think our chances are here?

[well, that's...certainly a thing. Good job, Pratt]

I give us fifty-fifty, unless Name can hurry up. [his head swivels toward the nearest entrance where Null are practically climbing over each other to get in, encumbered by the lack of room for giant tanks and the bits and pieces of disassembled Null flailing about in their way.] I can sense a lot of movement out there. It started out slow but it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Yeah. And I dunno that we can rush it. How does a machine do things faster? Not like we can put some nitrous on it and supercharge it.

[50/50 is more than he'd give them, but he's glad someone a little more level headed thinks this might actually work.]

Once they figure out what we're doing in here they're going to send all of them. I'm surprised they're not trying to nuke the whole thing from orbit.

[nitrous...oxide? Nah he can figure out that one from the context, and snorts in sarcastic amusement while methodically going around ripping out and stabbing processors as fast as he can, until the next wave can get to them]

Probably sent all their ships to the other planet, where the city is now. They didn't expect us to be here, it's clear. [crush, stab] Though there's a hell of a lot of them for not expecting us.

[clearly, if they had voted to stay here and freeze, the Null would have found them sooner. That's not a pleasant thought.]

If all these were just on this planet already..

[His thought process is following along with Law's. That would have been a bloodbath.]

Weird they didn't attack us even more when we were here. Maybe they're still trying to figure out what we found when we opened up all the bunkers.

Or they're just covering all their bases and it's a coincidence. But I don't believe in coincidences anymore.

Me neither. [ugh, there's more coming, he can tell. There's a sense of movement just beyond the largest pile of Null scraps.] They probably decided to look or us here just after we left. Clearly, the timing of that move was just right.

[one of the few things the gods have done right, he'd think]

Yeah. Probably saved our asses.

Of course it's just prolonging the inevitable right? Which is happening now.

[He narrows his eyes at the hallway, preparing himself for another round of fighting. He's not sure how long he can keep this up without rest. Maybe some food. Might have been smarter if they set this up in shifts.]

This thing its uploading better work, or we're gonna be watching the Null win this war.

[Law likewise faces the oncoming problem, sword brandished. It's really going to get worse before it gets better, now.]

Nothing is inevitable. This is where we make or break this damn war.

[he's not going down without exhausting every ounce of strength and taking all of them with him. C'mon, Pratt, let's be grumpy fatalists together. Die all, die merrily.]

'Least we die with purpose? Guess that's something.

[Because he firmly believes they're all going to die here. There's a small sliver of hope that what [Name] uploads might actually do what it's intended to do - which is why he's here - but he doesn't think that the lot of them protecting this process will make it.

Especially now that Fear has abandoned them.]

And hey, maybe it works and we get to be heroes. That'd be something right?

I don't plan to die today. I have shit to do.

[brave words, but there's a conviction behind them. If Law dies, it'll be tomorrow after they've exhausted themselves and everyone else is dead around him. Small comfort.

He flashes the man a dangerous smirk and whips another Room up around them, just big enough to be able to do nasty and creative things with any Null that enter it to get at them. Stick with him for a bit, Pratt, he'll delay your death by a few hours at least.]

Heh. Pressing business back in the jungle?

[But the humor is appreciated. It's been doom and gloom for so long that even though Pratt is one of the most pessimistic people around, it's been draining. And while he won't make it until tomorrow - he's still got fight in him.]

It's gonna be fine. Even if we die, it'll have been for a purpose. And that's kinda all I wanted. So I guess I accomplished that. Feels pretty good, not gonna lie.

[huff!] Hmph. Altruist? Please.

[it's annoying now but he just might actually tip his hat to Pratt's death for a purpose later. Good job, man.]
