It's time. There's a plan that needs to be put into motion, and you're the ones who volunteered to do it. You know going in that it's going to be dangerous - but there's no other choice. This is the end, and it's you or the Null.
Upon arrival, you have a little time to prepare. The Null don't know you're there at first, and once they do there's a delay of a few hours before they're in position to fight back. Now's the time to set up defenses or anything else that might help you stay alive. You have to know the fight will be hard, because they know their lives are on the line, too.
Then, the Null attack. With everything they have, they try to stop you, try to beat past your defenses to get to [Name] and stop it from uploading the killswitch. Fear helps out, and the sky goes dark, but it won't last forever. When Fear flees, that particular defense is gone... along with any chance of getting out of there. Here's where those without courage might break, because it certainly looks like it could be a last stand. It doesn't help that Hope can't reach you here either, that any deaths will not be resurrected during the battle.
But it does end. With very little warning, [Name] completes its task. It goes dark, and as it does, the other Null see their end coming. They cannot stop it, they cannot escape. They crumple to the ground, all consciousness and animation gone from them.
And then you're alone on the ice planet. Tend your wounds, mourn your dead, and hope that someone will come for you before the cold does.► This log covers June 15th
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► As this log takes place away from Hope's influence, any deaths will not be resurrected until people and gods are able to travel to the ice planet again. Have fun!

[It's probably better for Peter to think of anything besides dead Pratt right now anyway, so he's just going to roll with Law's doctor chatter. He holds an unsteady hand up in protest when Law starts removing his jacket, shaking his head.]
It's fine, I heal way faster than normal people do. Just uh, I just need a hand up. I'll be okay.
no subject
[but finding out whether he really can fast-heal takes observation, so Law resolves to do just that. He offers his elbow, prepared to haul Peter to his feet as requested. Not too much extra touching, gosh.]
no subject
[He kind of expects the resident medic to want to keep an eye on the injured, so he isn't going to argue. Using Law's elbow as leverage, Peter hoists himself up, at least a little more steady on his feet now that he's had a second to calm down. He's also only just now realizing just how cold he is, so yes sitting next to a fire sounds pretty good right now.]

If you feel faint or nauseated, yell for me. I'm going to make the rounds and collect everyone.
no subject
Yeah, I'll... I'll let you know. Thanks, man.

Need help with anything? You look like you really need a break.
no subject
[yeah no his knees give out there, so I guess it's time to sit next to the fire, too. Just a bit, Law swears. He's got work to do.]
It's fine. We're as good as we can be, for now. You're...really healing on your own, are you?
no subject
Yeah, I'm uh, I'm healing up. It'll take a couple days for these to close up completely, though. I think the only thing I wasn't able to heal from on my own was when that Caedra lady cut me open with her freaky sword.
no subject
Law looks directly at him, his expression remarkably neutral]
Did she? You're damn lucky. That thing necrotises as it cuts, if you managed to escape that the you must have some kind of power.
no subject
According to my roommate, I was super lucky. He was surprised I was able to make it home with a wound like that, much less survive it. But yeah, I have a few powers, I guess. The whole super fast healing thing isn't exactly natural.
no subject
[a stiff shrug] ...not that it's a threat any longer. She got her wish before the rest of us, I guess.
no subject
[He takes a quick look around at all the. Y'know. Dead Null.]
Well. Maybe.
no subject
[oh Peter, such an optimist. Law follows that glance and then snorts]
Her weapons were almost useless on these metal hulks. It's more likely she would have turned on us for shits and giggles.
no subject
[He had no idea just how close Law and Caedra might have been, but he figured they were at least friends. As much of a problem as Caedra was, apparently she'd managed to attract at least someone who would be upset that she was gone.
But then Law goes and says that thing, and Peter feels a little less bad about it.]
Yeah... yeah, I can totally see that. And I guess it makes sense that her necro-whatever sword wouldn't work on machines, at least.
no subject
Right. She dealt with the handful that attacked our ship but it was a struggle. Hordes like this...
[nnnnnot saying that basically she would have been Pratt but just sayin'. Don't bring a knife to a robot fight, apparently]
Anyway. She's home where she belongs, and hopefully now that this is over, the rest of us will be, too. Sooner or later.
no subject
But yes don't... don't be like Deputy Pratt. Because you will die. Like Deputy Pratt.]
Yeah. If Fear decides to come back for us, anyway. It's um. It's been a while.
[He doesn't want to say "what if Fear's dead and we're stuck here with dead Pratt" but he is 100% thinking it. They saved the day and that's great and all, but now The Doubts are creeping back in.]
no subject
Hm. Well, maybe he's busy giving a lengthy excuse as to why he decided to bugger off and leave us here. Asshole.
[don't get him to start thinking that Fear's dead, that could be a problem]
no subject
[Peter doesn't like to be negative, but even his optimism has it's limits.]
no subject
Past me was too busy packing bandages and shit to think we'd be here long enough to need dinner. [he glances at Peter, all tired and dour] You don't want me making dinner anyway.
no subject
[Okay the expedition hadn't taken that long , but he's a teenager, he's going to be dramatic.
and then he remembers that Pratt had been the one to supply all those god awful MREs and just makes himself depressed all over again. He's just gonna. Pack that one away for now.]
no subject
[he has genuinely tried and failed for like sixteen years, there's a point where one just packs it in and admits it.
Law diligently ignores any emotional fluctuations in Peter's expression and simply settles down, ducking his face into the scarf around his neck. God he could just fall asleep right now but doesn't want to risk it. He's far from hypothermic but, you know, doctor senses tingling.]
I swear, if he makes us wait more than half a day, I'm going to find some way to sharpen my haki enough to punch his noncorporeal face.
no subject
He definitely feels a nap coming on, but he's also just paranoid as hell that something else is going to go wrong. They could get attacked by those mammoth creatures or something, who even knows. As much as he wants to sleep, keeping himself on guard is probably a way better idea right now.]
I don't know what a haki is, but I wouldn't stop you. Sometimes I just wanna slap that guy.
