For once, the new arrivals to Hadriel will not be waking up on the cold hard ground of the colosseum. Oh, sure, you'll still awaken in the arena - but this time the Door has been kind enough to ensure that you wake up comfortably arranged in a very nice chair. Or maybe not so comfortably. Some of those look pretty awkward - hopefully you didn't wake up with a crick in your neck! And hey, feel free to try to drag some of these super cool chairs to your new homes. They're probably not cursed or anything.
As you make your way out of the arena, be careful getting to close to the walls - well, except that's the only way out, so good luck! Chilling up on there waiting to get the drop on you are Skulltulas. These funky-looking spiders have squishy underbellies, but their upper exoskeletons are hard and very difficult to break through. They really just want to nibble you a few times, and maybe suck out all of your blood. No big deal, right? Have fun!
Have you conquered your arachnophobia and managed to escape? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers June 10th-15th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

What will they ask for in return?

[He sort of understands where her question is coming from. Steve had been concerned about how he was going to pay his rent when he first arrived, only to find out that there wasn't any rent.]
To tell you the truth, I was pretty suspicious of everyone when I first got here. But most of 'em are actually nicer than the people I knew back home. Now, I can't even think about leaving 'em behind.
[Maybe it's someting of a trap. He looks at a cardigan for a moment before holding it up against himself.]
You wanna keep this one, or give it away?
no subject
We can give it.
[ It's good quality; she fetches the bag and holds it out for him to fold and pack it inside. ]
You came here from — Brooklyn?
[ The uncertainty is not because of pronunciation, but because she has no idea how to say a word that, in his mind, she saw synonymous with home. ]
no subject
[He has that same little twitch in his jaw that she's likely seen when said jaw was a lot more square. Steve bites back emotion at the mention of Brooklyn, because what right does he have to be homesick when he's not the only one who is. He folds the garment carefully and places it in the bag.]
Technically, Jersey. Camp Lehigh. And then it was back for the procedure.
[Steve looks at her for a moment.]
Where are you from?
[He doesn't want to sound rude by coming right out and asking about the accent, but he is curious.]
no subject
Sokovia.
[ She hesitates. Should she warn him? It's tricky. He will try to reach out to her and Pietro regardless. If it meant less casualties... ]
[ She wishes Romanoff was here. ]
How much do you know of the future?
no subject
But the best way of learning about it is right there, at least.]
I know that the serum works. I know that I end up frozen for a long time. [He says it without dread, without any real emotion at all. It's his choice, and that's fine with Steve. What follows comes with a little more hesitation.] ...I know that something happens to my friend, Bucky.
no subject
And World War Two. You win.

[Steve notices something near the floor. When he crouches down, it's a bunch of mismatched socks, but he does his best to match them up into a few pair. When he's finished, he looks back up at her again.]
Look, Wanda, you don't have to worry too much about that if you don't want to. Telling me things or not telling me...if there's something you think I should know, or something you just wanna talk about, it's okay. I can handle it. [A pause.] I do want to know more about you, more about Sokovia too.
no subject
[ A people constantly at the mercy of others. No power to change that until recently. Even then. It was crumbling before Ultron got his hands on it, and ash makes soil fertile, doesn't it. ]
[ She's still grieving. ]
I am an Avenger now.
no subject
So we're teammates.
no subject
We will be.
no subject
[Steve finds a baseball cap, frowning after he dusts it off. It says it's for the L.A. Dodgers and that's just...well that's just wrong.]
I gotta ask though, do I really wear tights?
no subject
That, I do not know. The uniform is very... distinct, we will say.
no subject
[Steve doesn't know exactly what she means by that - but he's got some ideas.]
So what're you gonna do next? Got a place to stay?
no subject
[ She frowns. ]
Where are you staying?
[ Perhaps not in the same place, but she can be somewhere nearby. ]
no subject
[Which was something that had troubled him a little at first.]
You're welcome to stay with us. We have an extra bedroom.
[It's the kind of thing that might be viewed as scandalous back home. But they're far from home.]
no subject
[ It's funny. She smiles, wry, then it turns pensive. ]
I would like to be nearby, if possible.
no subject
Never thought of it that way. [But she's right, and Steve smiles a little, amused despite himself.]
You're always welcome. Friends should stick together. If...if that's what you wanna be.
[He stammers at the last of it.]
no subject
[ Without hesitation. She picks out a bomber jacket, and dusts it. ]
How do you think this will look on you?
no subject
[He reaches for the jacket, looking down at it once he pulls it on.]
What do you think?
[From his voice, Steve kinda likes it.]
no subject
[ She tucks a finger under the shoulder, straightening it out, and admiring it. ]
It's not too heavy?
no subject
[It is a heavier garment than he's used to, but that's also good. It means it'll last longer.]
You know, I think I've gotten stronger here.
[If only because the old 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' saying turned out to be true.]
no subject
[ She wouldn't say he was always strong — but he was solid, in a way that would be reassuring if she wasn't mired by grief. It comes and goes, like the tides. He's right. It's easier with friends. ]
I think we have enough to distribute, don't you?
no subject
[It seems unlikely, until Steve remembers rationing, food that wasn't always so great. Hopefully they'll have their gardens soon, and then things will be even better.]
Enough to clothe a small army. We're gonna look like Santa carrying all this stuff out of here.
[Steve picks up one bag and throws it over his shoulder. It's better than having nothing.]
no subject
[ She brings up the rear, carrying the bag they're keeping for themselves. ]
