Intro Log: Eight Legs No Heart

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for June.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: June 10th-15th
Warnings: Spiders. Soooo many spiders. New people. Probably swearing.

For once, the new arrivals to Hadriel will not be waking up on the cold hard ground of the colosseum. Oh, sure, you'll still awaken in the arena - but this time the Door has been kind enough to ensure that you wake up comfortably arranged in a very nice chair. Or maybe not so comfortably. Some of those look pretty awkward - hopefully you didn't wake up with a crick in your neck! And hey, feel free to try to drag some of these super cool chairs to your new homes. They're probably not cursed or anything.

As you make your way out of the arena, be careful getting to close to the walls - well, except that's the only way out, so good luck! Chilling up on there waiting to get the drop on you are Skulltulas. These funky-looking spiders have squishy underbellies, but their upper exoskeletons are hard and very difficult to break through. They really just want to nibble you a few times, and maybe suck out all of your blood. No big deal, right? Have fun!

Have you conquered your arachnophobia and managed to escape? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ By his estimate, Newton has approximately seven sticks of pocky in his mouth. Not only doe he look like an ugly hamster, but --

-- this is going to be a disaster.

What Hermann should know to do after five -- six -- arguably thirteen -- years, much like one does not chase a dog if one wants it to come as it will assume it's a game and run, is to stop. Neither will give, if Hermann keeps trying Newton will only put more in his mouth, making more of a mess later.

Too bad his predictive logic, even common sense, gets neatly trampled in Newton's presence. Fried by the rage overheating his skull, probably.

Hermann scowls, clutching the packet in his fist. Only his preservation instinct toward food keeps him from crushing it. Instead, he shoves it in his pocket and keeps advancing.

Yeah, there's a good chance he's going to try to make him -- ]

Spit it out!

[Newt acts totally and completely as predicted and dances back, shaking his head vigorously in the negative, trying to dodge Hermann's hands as he chews.] Nuh-uh! [one of the few benefits of Haven: He's gotten a lot better at dodging. This includes Hermann's grasp]

Newton!

[ Here: another lunge. A bigger one, too. If he doesn't get hold of Newton, he's likely falling. ]

[Luckily for Hermann, he does get a hand on Newt this time so at least that'll keep him from falling??? Newt's flailing a little bit, though, before turning his head away from Hermann as much as possible so he can deliberately swallow. So there.]

[ Given all the momentum, he gets a hard grip on Newton's arm, his body weight behind it. Not that his weight's so substantial these days. Newton turns his face and Hermann, of course, is literally reaching to tr to grab his jaw and yank it back toward him. ]

[alskdhfosihfds okay yep that sure is his jaw being grabbed and yanked back around towards Hermann, which, if it weren't so annoying, might be kinda hot. But!! By now, he's swallows what was in his mouth, so he's just going to stick his tongue out at him, opening his mouth at the same time to show he already swallowed it with something like a triumphant expression]

Bleeeeeh!

Damn it, Newton, you--

[ Cutting himself off with a snarl of frustration, he releases Newton's jaw and arm, so abruptly it's almost as if he's pushing him away as Hermann then pivots, hard. He wobbles from the vehemence of it, then makes the few steps back to his cane, crouching to snatch it up.

He growls at the floor. ]

Don't look to me when you get sick! I'm not helping!

[Like a mature adult, he's going to scowl at Hermann's back before sticking his tongue out at him] Fine, I won't! I didn't ask for it, anyway! [newt are you five]

[ His back may be to Newton, but it's as though he can sense that he's sticking out his tongue. Which simply means -- ]

Right, go ahead, poison yourself, I'm waiting outside!

[ And blindly grabbing a few more items to shove into the canvas bag, he starts for the door. ]

Fine! I'm gonna grab some more things before we go!

[and yep, shouldering his backpack to do just that]

[ A severe look over his shoulder. ]

No more pocky!
