Intro Log: Eight Legs No Heart

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for June.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: June 10th-15th
Warnings: Spiders. Soooo many spiders. New people. Probably swearing.

For once, the new arrivals to Hadriel will not be waking up on the cold hard ground of the colosseum. Oh, sure, you'll still awaken in the arena - but this time the Door has been kind enough to ensure that you wake up comfortably arranged in a very nice chair. Or maybe not so comfortably. Some of those look pretty awkward - hopefully you didn't wake up with a crick in your neck! And hey, feel free to try to drag some of these super cool chairs to your new homes. They're probably not cursed or anything.

As you make your way out of the arena, be careful getting to close to the walls - well, except that's the only way out, so good luck! Chilling up on there waiting to get the drop on you are Skulltulas. These funky-looking spiders have squishy underbellies, but their upper exoskeletons are hard and very difficult to break through. They really just want to nibble you a few times, and maybe suck out all of your blood. No big deal, right? Have fun!

Have you conquered your arachnophobia and managed to escape? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers June 10th-15th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

"Infestation" was an interesting choice of words. Depending upon who one asked, however, she supposed it could have been an accurate description. Some of the Turians and certainly the Reapers might have called them that.

Being created by humans, however, might give her a little bit of a bias.

"Humanity has reached as far into space as any of the other council races in far less time. For such a young species, they are quite far advanced."

"Space, hmm? Traveling into the stars?" He murmurs and stares up at the ceiling of the underground far above them, gazing as if he could see right through it to the sky above. He had no love for humanity, not after being rejected by them in such a brutal fashion, but he did have to admit that they had their moments. They were a creative lot, a gift given to them by their creator. "What will they do next?"

"The current hope is that they will somehow manage to defeat the Reapers. Beyond that, the future is uncertain." Whether or not they would survive was uncertain, and there really wasn't any room for error. Defeat meant that all of them--every species advanced beyond primitives--would be exterminated.

Certainly, there's a specific way she--and most people--wishes that the fight would go.

"What are Reapers?" That is a most unpleasant sounding name to Ushahin. He is growing curious about what a completely different place this woman seems to come from than his own. It just serves to highlight how he's now in a completely new world. It is a touch overwhelming, even for someone who has experienced as much as the immortal has.

"The Reaper are, evidently, the first synthetic species created in the universe. They have since shepherded cycles of mass extinction and extermination of species in the universe in order to preserve organic life." It's a method that she highly disagrees with--even being a synthetic herself.

"We are currently at the end of such a cycle and are attempting to combat the Reapers before the organics can be eliminated." If anyone stood a chance against them, it was Shepard. The odds may have been low, but at least there were odds this time.

Synthetics? Organics? It's all a little beyond the dreamer. He exchanges looks with Fetch, though he knows his feathered friend won't understand it any better than he does. "Elimination of any group makes for a poorer world. The races of my own world are dwindling away, one by one. Soon, there will be only one left."

They've been walking for some time and now Ushahin is beginning to notice that the dwellings are changing into smaller buildings. "Are these the houses of which you spoke?"

"The cycles last roughly 50,000 years. The Reapers always leave the lesser advanced races be to repopulate the next cycle." The prospect of the Yahg taking over in the next cycle is not a great one. The beasts are disgusting and utterly vicious.

"Yes. I believe there are several available."

"Thank you for your assistance." He dips his head in a courteous manner towards her. He's learned far more about this new place than he ever would have on his own. "I don't believe we were ever properly introduced. What is your name?"

"My official designation is Enhanced Defense Intelligence, however, most organics find it simpler to refer to me as EDI." Perhaps a touch overcomplicated an introduction, but she does try to be complete in her answers.

There's a strange name if he's ever heard one. Then again, he supposes his own name might be strange compared to what else she had known back home. "EDI, I am known as Ushahin Dreamspinner."

No stranger than any name she'd heard before. Some of the species she knew had odd names. And yet, it isn't one that she'd heard before, so it's worthy of a note, at least.

"A pleasure, Ushahin Dreamspinner. Should you have any further inquiries please feel free to contact me."

"I believe I shall. Fetch and I will take our leave of you here. Fetch, say goodbye." The raven blinks his beady eyes at EDI and squawks out a hoarse cry. Ushahin turns towards the houses. He's not a terribly fussy man and will take the first one that is empty and appeals to his sensibilities.
