Intro Log: Eight Legs No Heart

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for June.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: June 10th-15th
Warnings: Spiders. Soooo many spiders. New people. Probably swearing.

For once, the new arrivals to Hadriel will not be waking up on the cold hard ground of the colosseum. Oh, sure, you'll still awaken in the arena - but this time the Door has been kind enough to ensure that you wake up comfortably arranged in a very nice chair. Or maybe not so comfortably. Some of those look pretty awkward - hopefully you didn't wake up with a crick in your neck! And hey, feel free to try to drag some of these super cool chairs to your new homes. They're probably not cursed or anything.

As you make your way out of the arena, be careful getting to close to the walls - well, except that's the only way out, so good luck! Chilling up on there waiting to get the drop on you are Skulltulas. These funky-looking spiders have squishy underbellies, but their upper exoskeletons are hard and very difficult to break through. They really just want to nibble you a few times, and maybe suck out all of your blood. No big deal, right? Have fun!

Have you conquered your arachnophobia and managed to escape? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Shrug.]

Some of the houses and apartments aren't so bad, at least. They're... hospitable.

Hey, if they're not going to suddenly collapse around our ears and kill half the population, I figure we're good. [he huffs, pushing the rest of the pocky into his backpack and zipping it up before straightening.]

What did you say your name was?

[circumitus]

[Rey bites her tongue, and decides to neglect the fact that she had almost exploded which would have quite possibly ended up burning the second spire to the ground. But hey, details!]

Didn't tell you. [Pause.] It's Rey.

[She generally presumes that this is the part where the other person introduces themselves.]

Hey, Rey. [he grins at her as he slings his backpack onto his back] I'm Newt.

How long have you been here?

[circumitus]

[She thinks about it for a moment, and then--

[Shit.]

It's been about... six months now.

[fortunefavored]

[Newt blinks at that] So...about half a year. [he tilts his head a bit, curiously] What's it been like? Y'know, just so I have an idea of how bad it's gonna be.

[circumitus]

Well, first month here, a good number of people were buried alive. Then there was the incident where some were unknowingly consuming human meat and turned into cannibalizing monsters. Then there was an ongoing city-wide party that lasted for a whole week...

[Hangovers and loud music! The horror.]

You get the idea. Basically, it fluctuates depending on the mood of our hosts.

[Newt listens, mouth twisting] ...great. So still hell, but now with food and decent shelter. [he sighs] So...who are our hosts, exactly? I know there's a guy called Hope...who're the others?

[circumitus]

They call themselves "gods". Whether you want to buy into that or not is up to you, but they do seem to be capable of what should be impossible things.

Right now, there's Hope, Fear, Delight, and Rage. Another one of them is about to be resurrected soon, so... be prepared for that.

That...doesn't sound like a positive thing. What happens when one of these guys is resurrected?

[circumitus]

Suppose it depends on who is being brought back. Have only been around to see Delight's resurrection, which resulted in an extended city-wide party. Which wouldn't be so bad, except that many of us weren't allowed to sleep for several days.

[Felt bad, mang.]

That's...like, really intense. I mean, I've done the not-sleeping-for-several-days thing and i mean, like, you get a lot done but then you crash hardcore and that's the not-fun part.

[he wrinkles his nose] How did they even keep you up?

[circumitus]

Delight had these yellow drinks that were evidently energy shots that kept you going for over twenty-four hours, and some people took them without knowing the full effects. The crash was hard, but could be counteracted with another shot.

Needless to say, some people got pretty fucked up.

Jeez. [Newt wrinkles his nose] Note to self: avoid any drinks from Delight. Anything else I should avoid?

[circumitus]

The drinks alone aren't what you should be worried about. Would just advise against consuming any of the bright yellow shots at the bar. Not unless you want to be up for over twenty-four hours...

[Easy enough thing to do, right?]

And no, not really. Unless you'd like to limit your options here.
