For once, the new arrivals to Hadriel will not be waking up on the cold hard ground of the colosseum. Oh, sure, you'll still awaken in the arena - but this time the Door has been kind enough to ensure that you wake up comfortably arranged in a very nice chair. Or maybe not so comfortably. Some of those look pretty awkward - hopefully you didn't wake up with a crick in your neck! And hey, feel free to try to drag some of these super cool chairs to your new homes. They're probably not cursed or anything.
As you make your way out of the arena, be careful getting to close to the walls - well, except that's the only way out, so good luck! Chilling up on there waiting to get the drop on you are Skulltulas. These funky-looking spiders have squishy underbellies, but their upper exoskeletons are hard and very difficult to break through. They really just want to nibble you a few times, and maybe suck out all of your blood. No big deal, right? Have fun!
Have you conquered your arachnophobia and managed to escape? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers June 10th-15th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[It's a masochistic impulse, maybe, asking that. Adam's primary emotion regarding his own father is fear, but he can't help but be strangely interested in people who have good relationships with their family. What does that sort of thing feel like?]
You really care about him.

She smiles sadly, voice small. ] There's no one else like him. I wasn't even his real daughter, but he still... He still gave up his whole life to keep me safe. He loved me.
[ and that means absolutely everything to someone like Sharon ]
no subject
I don't think blood means anything. You were his real daughter. He loved you, that's what counts.
[He shrugs, looks away, because that kind of honesty is uncomfortable.]
I'm sure you'll find each other again, one way or another.
no subject
she looks down at her feet, shifting her weight from one to the other, and then: ] Uh, what about yours? I bet you're looking forward to when you can see your family again, right?
no subject
[Well, it was probably bound to get awkward. Adam generally doesn't talk about this sort of thing, and changes the subject when it comes up, but Sharon's been honest with him. He can at least try to give her honesty in return.]
Not really. They weren't... good people. I ended up having to leave.
[He shrugs.]
I've got my friends here, though.
no subject
I didn't... [ mean to bring up something like that. it's not a subject she really knows how to bounce back from. ] Sometimes, we have to make our own families. [ she shrugs her shoulders. the friends he has are incredibly close with him, that much she knows. ] Maybe you've already made yours.
[ Adam is right. Family is more than blood, and we can choose who we wish to tie to our trees, and who we wish to cut. ]
no subject
[It brings up bad memories, sure, but it's more awkward than anything. She really didn't know, and had no way of knowing. Adam's barely told anyone who didn't come here from home with him, who didn't figure it out on their own after all the times he came to school with bruises.]
You're right, though. I've been lucky enough to find good friends, and most of them are here with me. I can't complain.
