Intro Log: Eight Legs No Heart

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for June.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: June 10th-15th
Warnings: Spiders. Soooo many spiders. New people. Probably swearing.

For once, the new arrivals to Hadriel will not be waking up on the cold hard ground of the colosseum. Oh, sure, you'll still awaken in the arena - but this time the Door has been kind enough to ensure that you wake up comfortably arranged in a very nice chair. Or maybe not so comfortably. Some of those look pretty awkward - hopefully you didn't wake up with a crick in your neck! And hey, feel free to try to drag some of these super cool chairs to your new homes. They're probably not cursed or anything.

As you make your way out of the arena, be careful getting to close to the walls - well, except that's the only way out, so good luck! Chilling up on there waiting to get the drop on you are Skulltulas. These funky-looking spiders have squishy underbellies, but their upper exoskeletons are hard and very difficult to break through. They really just want to nibble you a few times, and maybe suck out all of your blood. No big deal, right? Have fun!

Have you conquered your arachnophobia and managed to escape? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Excited at the attention, Aspen wags his tail and rockets off after the stick. Adam suppresses a laugh, though he does smile a bit. He hasn't been in the best mood to play with his dog since coming back, so he's more than happy to let Arya - and it seems to be lifting his spirits as well.]

He was originally supposed to protect me, I guess - I mean, that's why he's here. But I'd rather not put him in any kind of danger.

[Adam's much too fond of the dog for that. Aspen might have been dreamt up as a form of protection, but to Adam he's more of a beloved pet than anything else.

Aspen comes back to them, tail still wagging, and drops a dog spit-covered stick in front of Arya, looking for approval.]

You have plenty of people for that, anyway. A dog can't do anything that Cockface or I couldn't do.

[ What's the point of a dog when you could have a wolf for protection? Adam needs something to lift his spirits, not another set of teeth. Arya thinks Aspen is doing the right job.

Arya grins at the stick like it's the best stick she's ever seen, and scratches Aspen behind the ears. ]

[Adam mouths 'cockface' to himself for a moment, confused, before it clicks. And then he has to keep himself from laughing, though it's impossible to keep the smile off his face.]

I wouldn't want either of you to be in danger because of me, either.

[Aspen wags his tail harder, delighted at the attention and the praise. He looks up at Arya hopefully, ready to go running after another stick at the slightest hint of movement.]

I think you both get in enough trouble on your own.

[ Arya doesn't see Adam smile super often, but she likes it when he does. Adam deserves to be happy, just like everyone else. Probably more than everyone else. Arya grins back. It's okay to laugh; she knows her nickname is hilarious. ]

I'm always in danger. Might as well be for a good cause.

[ The gods here are not a good cause. Adam is. So is Aspen, come to think of it. Arya throws the stick again. ]

I think he goes looking for it. [ pot, kettle. ]

[Aspen darts off after the stick, clearly ecstatic. This is the best of all worlds for him, people to play with and plenty of attention.]

I'm pretty sure you both do.

[And Adam, of course, tends not to - cautious, as always. But he'll run straight into danger if he thinks there's a good reason for it, and sometimes it finds him anyway. He's still not used to having anyone looking out for him, but he feels lucky because of it.]

At least I can patch you up after. I'm learning a lot at the clinic. Still, I don't want you to get hurt.
