[This is a catchall mainly for the Saiyuki cast since I don't think they've made any substantial CR yet for just anyone to pop over. But if they invite someone over or anything like that, this is a good place to host random threads.]

[Hakkai watches the giant, damn rodent scurry off into the house. It's going to poop everywhere, he knows it.

He lets out a sigh. He's in no mood for all of this.]

Gojyo, could you get the rat and throw it outside?

[He watches Goku carefully to make sure he doesn't get overly excited and jostle her around.]

[ IT'S NOT HIS RAT WHAT THE HELL

But he goes to catch the damn thing because they're ruining his game anyway (his game!! you know, all the game he has!!), and also because yes mom. ]

Why are there even giant fuckin' rats here? Who made that happen?

[ Goku ignored as the rat rummaged through the house, scurrying away from Gojyo. Watch out! It likes blood! ]

Nice to meet you! Why is your hair pink? Is it because you're a half-demon? Is that the girl color for demon hair? Oh! Or is it because you're a uh... [ And suddenly, Goku was counting on his fingers ] Oh! Is it because you're one-forths of a demon? Because half-demon hair is red and pink is like red but lighter! [ He was rolling back and forth from heel to toe, looking at Kate with excitement. ]

[ W E L L. That's... a different conclusion to draw.

... Might not be entirely wrong, judging by her list of fuck ups and crimes. But the reality is much less self-pitying. ] Because I like the colour. Not from any world with demons. [ None that have identifying features anyway, because the things that could be called demons - cruel, evil, unrelenting, whatever else the mythos said - were individuals of every sort. ]

[Leave it to Goku to lift his spirits just a little bit. He couldn't help but smile at the conclusions he was drawing. Even through his cloudy mood, Goku was a ray of sunshine.]

I'm glad that the math I taught you stuck.

[He goes over to Goku and gives him a pat on the head.]

And your colors are correct as well.

[He looks over at Kate.]

Where we're from, half-demons have red hair and red eyes from the taboo birth.

[Guess who has red hair and red eyes in this house.

And before he could stop himself.]

I'm technically not a full demon because I wasn't born that way. I started off human....

[Suddenly his mood tanked and he had to sit down. He takes a seat next to Kate]

[ brow raise at so many things there. but she pushes the bowl of snacks towards him, because that... is pretty much all she feels qualified to offer there.

well, that and a question. ] You became one? [ she says that as gently as she's ever said anything, but that... sounds like it shouldn't be a thing. unless you got possessed. ]

[ If Gojyo were present he'd probably try to steer this conversation somewhere less shitty real fast, but instead he's contributing to a bunch of non-alarming background noise in the kitchen, punctuated by the occasional get over here you little fucker and other abuse. He's fine everything's fine. ]

[ Goku went over to where they were sitting. He plopped himself down in a chair across from them, arms splayed out on the table. ]

Yeah! But I like Hakkai no matter what! Gojyo, too! I like all my friends! [ There was excitement in his voice... but then, his brows furrowed a bit. He glanced over to Kate. ]

Mmm--Kate, if yer friends wit' Hakkai.. [ And there was a slow drawl to his question. ] Would you... be my friend, too?

[ times kate remembers she isn't twenty two any more: when she realises that she wouldn't laugh that request off as she might have then.

and hell, right now, she needs any friends she can get. ] Sure. Why not? [ she's even trying to smile as she says that. although it's not very obvious. ]

[Hakkai welcomed the interruption. He wanted to tell her more, but he knew that he also really didn't. It felt like that compulsory issue again like with what Rage did to them with hurting people.

Goku didn't seem effected by anything that was going on. But Goku in a bad mood for no reason wasn't like him at all.]

Goku, go ahead and have some snacks. But first, wash your hands. You were just touching a giant rat.

[He turns his attention to Kate.]

It's really lively here, as you can tell.

[ Gojyo reenters the living room with a giant rat in his arms. He has a scratch on his chin. He is so excited about all of this. ]

I'm gonna go put this rat somewhere. Is there anybody we don't like?

[perceives_sunlight]

Okay! [ Goku quickly slid off the chair and table and ran off to the kitchen sink to wash his hands as Hakkai told him to. ]

Aye, it's... something. [ That isn't a bad something, judging by the half-smile on Kate's face. After all the quiet of her own flat, it's sort of nice to be around people outside of work, outside of plotting and ruining everything again.

She glances over at Gojyo and the rat. Well, there were ... not people, but beings here she didn't like. Probably wasn't the best idea to rile them up further, though. ] Not answerin' that. Never seems to go well for me. [ It's all said with a forced casualness that sounds... wrong. All wrong. ]

[Hakkai looks over at Gojyo as well.]

Just put it outside, I guess. We'll think of other ways to terrorize people later. [It's a joke and it's meant to be a joke, but the tone falls flat.]

Has something happened since the fog and the sirens?

[He motions to her ribs]

During the fog. [ No point in hiding it. Not like there's anything worth hiding. ] Got into a fight after we last saw each other. [ Not long before everything got worse. Not long before it at all. ] 'S just bruised ribs.

Can I have food now? [ He was done with his hands. He slid back to his seat. ]

[Hakkai gestures to the snack bowl when Goku slides back up.

He nods to Kate's explanation.]

You should try to take it easy... I know I'm not one to talk, but...

[He waves a hand a bit dismissively.]

Not something I'm good at either. [ shrug. not something she ever was good at, even as a child. resting is for the weak and those not plagued by all their wrongdoings. ]

Did you all get here together? [ come through the door at the same time, whatever else you want to call it. ]
