What: The Regret This event
Where: Throughout the city
When: June 25th-July 3rd
Warnings: Sorrow is resurrected, and everyone is immediately full of regrets
Hope has finally managed another god resurrection, and the people have spoken! On June 25th, he musters his powers and brings Sorrow back to Hadriel. An orchard appears across the river, in the until now ruined part of the city, and Sorrow's temple is also restored. Hooray! One more god to make things a little more livable in this place.
Of course, it's not that easy. It never is. Along with Sorrow himself comes a wave of regret and guilt that blankets the city. All those affected will be inclined to not only be sad, but to linger over past regrets and things they feel guilty about. They can distract themselves with everyday tasks or whatever else they please, but they'll find that their thoughts drift back to these regrets regardless of what they do.
And of course, the best way to purge a guilty conscience is confession, right? On top of these persistent sad thoughts, people will feel the urge to tell others about them, to air their past mistakes or misdeeds and possibly receive some kind of forgiveness. So what if your neighbor doesn't care that you cheated on your final exams all through school? You have to tell someone, and they're right there. If it doesn't make you feel better, that probably means you haven't confessed to enough people yet, or maybe you just haven't found the right person. Better try again!
On July 3rd, Sorrow has settled in and this urge to confess your sins will die down, along with the constant regret. Let's hope you didn't confess anything too personal. Remember, you're gonna have to see some of these people every day.► This log covers June 25th-July 3rd.

"Sounds simple enough." Stitching through fabric sounds way easier than through flesh, that's for damned sure. "Got the gist of it, at least."
She notes the tone of Emily's voice and her last comment, though.
"So what you're saying is that it's more of a temporary bandaid than a solution."
If there is any sort of solution to this problem, that is, beyond just riding it out. Ugh.

"Pretty much. Like... I, um..." Fuck. Exactly what she hadn't really wanted to do is what Sorrow's influence is making her thinks she wants to do right now. "I kept insulting my boyfriend when he was trying to save my life. And that was really shitty of me. And, like, I hate thinking about it? But there's only so much I can not think about it, because of Sorrow."

"Seems that Sorrow has us thinking about a lot we'd rather not." Rey herself is no exception to this. She picks up some of the cloth, but doesn't really do anything with it yet. "People tend to say and do a lot of shitty things when they're scared. Doesn't excuse it, but it happens."
That's what she assumes what happened, since Emily did mention that her boyfriend was trying to save her life.

It's that simple. If she could just get the chance to look Matt in the eye and tell him why she's sorry and that she's going to be better from now on, she'd feel great.
She won't get that chance while she's stuck here, and now Sorrow keeps reminding her of all her shit, and it's just... so much. Almost too much.
"Anyway. Yeah. That's... that's how you hand stitch. Have at it, I guess."

Rather than sharing her pearls of depressing wisdom with Emily, however, Rey keeps this one to herself.
Forcing a deep exhale through her nose, she stares down at the fabric that had been placed in front of her.
"You know, to be honest, am not particularly interested in sewing. Just seemed like you could use the company."
Have someone to help get Emily out of her own head for a while. Rey doesn't seem like the caring sort, but. There you have it.
no subject
"Oh." That's-- not something Emily would've expected from her. She'd been so blank during the firefly thing that Emily just figured Rey was... indifferent to the world or whatever. "Yeah. Thanks."
What a waste of time, though, teaching her how to sew if she wasn't going to do it. Whatever, it's teaching practice or something.

Unfortunately it's times like these that she regrets opening that door again. Because remorse sucks. It plagues her every day, but it still sucks.
At Emily's gratitude, Rey just shrugs.
"It'd be pointless to tell you not to worry about shit you can't fix, but that isn't going to happen. Is it?"
She scoffs despite herself.

"Pretty much." Especially with Sorrow around. Good job, tree huggers. "Anyway, I can't stop you coming here whenever you want, so you do you." She'd really prefer it if you brought supplies, though. Emily has a lot of work to do, and this was kind of a waste of her precious time.

The least she can do is make some use of herself, if possible.

Patience isn't exactly the strongest suit of many people here.

Oh, she probably did. Rey just shrugs like it ain't no big thing.
"Glad to help." She moves to stand up. "Will get out of your hair now, if you'd rather be alone."
