[ Her lips twitch, pulling to one side for a moment. ] Depends why they're gone. [ And, here, depends even more on whether she could figure out how to get the kind of medicines needed to treat those problems, if they required it. ] If you've exhausted 'em, well- all that usually needs is time. [ At least, it did back home. It does with her. ] Other reasons might need medicine. Might just not work. [ Sad, but true. Especially with power advancement. Many people advance their powers to find out they can't do the things they used to do. ]

... Dunno if it works the same here. [ Bluntly. ] Too many different worlds.

[Muscovy nods, thoughtfully.]

Maybe he cannot come to places where there is no winter. [After all, that is what General Winter is the general of. It would make sense, in a way - he usually can't call upon him in the middle of summer back home, either.]

Who? [ She's curious, because saying such things almost sounds like summoning, and that-

well, she probably shouldn't consider the applications of that. ]

The General. I have a pact with him so that he will protect me, yes?

[As brightly as that is stated, it isn't all fun at all - every pact has two sides, and while he gains a measure of protection from the General, that means that the General gets to reign over him and by doing that hurt him for a number of months every year. Still, it is better than the alternative. Back home, he would long have been wiped off the map if not for the General's support, even if he can't help him against everyone.]

[ She nods, slowly, although the idea is still a bit vague. And completely unlike anything she's experienced back home - either you were born with powers, or in rare cases - cases that, as far as she knows, no longer exist -, injected with something. But there was no pact to them. They were simply... given. ] Right. [ But he's not here. ] Him not being here affect you? [ She means negatively, medically. ]

He can't protect me, but he can't take hold of me, either.

[He tentatively shakes his head. It affects him, but he's gotten used to it. And he has others here who might provide some level of protection, though not in the same way, and not demand as much in return.]

[ Well. That's something, at least. ] You wouldn't be the first to lose their powers. Know at least one other person was asking about it a while ago.

It isn't as bad as losing my people, and both won't change so there would have been no reason to be worried about it, yes?

[And if they return one day, the General or his link to his people, then he will deal with it when that day comes. It will be both nice and scary, probably, but he doesn't really waste much thought on it.]

[ She's not really sure she understands that, what his people means, at least, but; ] You're alive and healthy. Think you're right. You'll be fine. [ At least, as fine as anyone can be down here. ]

So you are the doctor for powers.

[Nodding slowly. He'll mentally note her down for that.]

Er. [ That's... a bit far, isn't it? Doctor implies real medical training, and-

Well. She can prescribe things, courses of treatment and pills - she can even manage first aid -, but that isn't exactly the same thing as Doctor. ] S'pose so. Although I can't do much to cure anything without medications. [ There's an edge of bitterness seeping into her tone, because those are things they don't have. Unless the power problem can be cured by time, she's functionally useless for anything more than explanations. ]

You don't cure powers with powers?

[He'd really have suspected that. Though it makes sense - you don't cure a cough by coughing at someone, ...even if that is a bad comparison.]

[ She shakes her head. ] Can't, personally. [ Back home there are those who've can, but they can directly affect the powers they're curing without the need for a conduit. ] Someone who can manipulate powers can.

What power do you have then?

[He'd just assumed that she had one, the way she talked about them.]

[ He'd be right. ] The power to make things react to powers. [ And, because it's proven much easier to do this than to explain, Kate reaches for a pen and taps it a few times before running it over her arm, where it glows yellow. ] Been using my powers, so- [ It's not green, which would be the picture of health and unused power. ] A bit drained.

[He tilts his head.]

...You can make things be able to measure how healthy someone's powers are?

[ She nods. ] Among other things.

Was useful back home. [ Implying that here? Not so much. ]

...It would be good as a proof to keep people from being silly.

Because sometimes people will say that they are fine when they are not, and get themselves and everyone in danger by trying to head into danger even when they are exhausted. And you could measure that and show them that they are lying so they would have to stop.

[Of course they could still head out if necessary, or they could be extra silly and not care, but it might be worth a try.]

It was. [ Definitely was back home, years ago at The Agency when overworked was the permanent state of most employees. ] Don't think as many people are that reckless here. [ Except for maybe the one who should be telling them to stop being reckless, but what are you going to do? ]

But they are, yes?

What does yellow mean?

[He has observed a number of people being that kind of silly here already, so ...yeah. Those things would be useful.]

[ Eh, they probably could be. She hasn't noticed that much of it though. Then again, she has to actually... figure out everyone's powers nowadays. Kate's life is suffering. ] Yellow? Eh, power level could be better. [ A moment, before she adds. ] Usually corrected by resting and eating. [ It's nothing massively serious, most of the time, but can require further investigation if those don't restore it. ]

Then you should rest and eat now, yes?

[Considering that it turned yellow when it touched her, that's quite logical.]

[ okay, she can't really deny that. ] Prob'ly. [ Which means lunch break? ] Guess I should get lunch. [ She is kind of peckish. ] ...You want me to pick anything up?
