Delight's Bar - OPEN
Ever since Delight's bar had been constructed and the goddess had taken it upon herself to throw a giant party that had caused Glacius much aggravation, he'd given the establishment a fairly wide berth. He'd never had much reason to go in, anyways; he wasn't familiar with any of the fancy human drinks served within (and was perfectly fine with subsisting off of water), and it was usually packed with people and fairly noisy, both of which were usually reason enough to push the alien away. He wasn't a particularly sociable creature, and he preferred his peace and quiet... but today he'd been summoned, and given that he was meeting someone here on business, he was going to have to do his best to make a good impression.
So the alien stands on the street corner across from the bar, trying to prepare himself for this endeavor. He takes a deep breath and squares his shoulders and then crosses over, pushing the door open and walking into the establishment. There are a good number of humans here, enough to make his shoulders hitch up slightly... but it's still very early, which means that it's not as crowded as he's expecting, and most people are already hunched over their own drinks or engaged in their own conversations. Nobody moves to bolt immediately at the sight of the massive alien creature that looks more like an icy monolith, and only a few of them give him long, hard or wary stares... Glacius does his best to ignore them as he moves into the bar, looking for the person he's supposed to meet. If anyone else in Delight's bar takes notice of the otherworldly being and would like to strike up a conversation, they're welcome to get his attention before he leaves.
Emily's Lakeside Shop- CLOSED to Emily
It had been a rough couple of weeks for the ice alien, whose mood had not been helped in the least by the waning health of his fireflies. He'd been noticeably saddened by this when he posted to the network, hoping against hope that there was something that could be done for them... and though that was still up in the air, at least there were people that cared about him watching the network today. He'd received a few invitations to help and a few other offers to visit with people, which he'd accepted, thankful for the distractions from everything.
First up, he is on his way to visit Emily in her shop, which as it turned out was not all that far from the place where he'd been living as of late. Casting a few looks at the map he'd sent him just to be sure he hadn't made a wrong turn anywhere, the alien made his way over. The location was nice; the ornate glass windows of the shop caught the sun well, and the river that cut its way through the city was visible through the grounds. After taking a little bit of time to look around, the alien approached the storefont and knocked on the door... and thankfully there are no bleeding monster carcasses in hand. He has, however, brought something else that might seem odd to a random passerby, operating under a misconception in hopes to pay Emily back for all the kindness she's shown him thus far.
Glacius' Apartment- CLOSED to Kate
After his visit with Emily, Glacius heads north again, making a much longer walk up to the Colosseum to meet with Kate. He doesn't like visiting this place; it was where he woke up in Hadriel, the arena inside the first thing he saw when he was brought to this cursed place.
Just considering the way his life and his mission on earth had been completely upset is enough to make some of his bad mood come back... but at least that's about the worst of what he's suffering. At least this time they weren't meeting with any heavy topics burdening their souls. They were just meeting one another to converse, to chat casually like... friends might do. The thought was still an odd one to Glacius, but given how heavy things were lately, he was glad for the respite. His relief meant that he wasn't quite fretting as much over what to do or how to act with a human than he usually might; after the two meet up and make the walk back to the Spires together, he leads Kate into his apartment and gestures for her to make herself comfortable, then emulates how she had welcomed him in when he had visited her residence not all that long ago.
"Here we are. Would you like anything to drink? Something to help hyrdate you after the walk over?"

/flings self at
His place is - well, all these places are pretty similar, with the same strange not-quite-right furniture and standard layouts. So it's easier to make herself at home, in a way, because it looks so familiar. She chooses a chair and stretches out, as ever she does, legs crossed over one another. "Water's fine." And simple. And less likely to taste like crap than the store located coffee or tea.
WELCOME!!
He doesn't head to the fridge afterwards to get any ice--he doesn't need to, given what his skin is made up of. He simply comes back into the main room where the woman is sitting, chilling the glass of water in his hand as he goes. After he hands it off to Kate, however, he does not yet sit down. He remains standing, arms folded behind his back, operating under some alien customs of hospitality and hosting to keep from moving on to the more confounding part... the part where he interacts casually with a human, which he really has no idea how to do. Nearly all of his relations with Kate thus far have been matters of survival... changing gears all of the sudden is difficult, especially given how his culture usually dictates he interact with another species.
"Is there anything else you require?"

She accepts the glass with a nod and a sip and - okay, advantages of being friends with an ice alien include perfectly cold water. She'll keep that in mind. - a gesture to the couch. The standing thing just makes it more awkward. And she's not particularly great at small talk anyway - her idea of hanging out with people usually involves a lot more running.
Or drink.
"I'm fine," she assures him, straightening up a bit in her seat. "What're you up to lately?" Okay. Lame. But a conversation piece all the same.

He's lucky that keeping his composure comes naturally; if he was a less calm creature, he might be squirming a little. As it is his voice simply sounds a little tentative, like he's afraid of saying the wrong thing. "Well... I haven't yet tried to reach the cave's ceiling like we discussed some time ago, if that's what you're getting at..."
no subject
"Forgot about that," she admits lightly, a hum at the end of her words, and then adds; "Meant... just- what have you been doing since the last time we saw each other?" There. That's a clearer way of putting it.

Luckily (well, not really, given it's because he's sad), Glacius is on his way-- correction, he's here. Emily puts down the garment she's working on (Shadow's jacket) and calls out to him, "Come in!" The door is always unlocked, and it's only half-closed at most when she's here. Even so, she stands and heads to the door to meet him there.
no subject
"Hello, Emily," the ice alien greets her, dipping his head a little. He gives her a small smile, too, but it doesn't have his usual brand of quiet happiness to it; the expression is struggling a little, given that he's not really feeling it. "Thank you for being willing to meet with me. I think it was good to get out of my living space." Otherwise he might have spent the whole day sitting and mourning as he watched his fireflies grow more and more listless, and that's the last thing he needs.
no subject
"No problem. I kind of know the feeling. Getting out of the house helps a little." The smile she gives him is small, but sincere. Whatever it is he's hiding (it's hard to miss him moving it, really), she's curious, but she won't ask him about it. The last thing he needs is for her to upset him, and she may be a bitch, but she's not heartless.
"Come on over this way," she says as she leads him to one of the tables. "I'm going to sketch what you describe until I get it right. This is going to be so cool, by the way. I'm excited to learn about your people's clothes." It's going to tell her a lot about who they are and what they value. She won't usually mention how much she likes to learn (hello, she's not a nerd), but she really does enjoy it.
no subject
Plus, she's providing him a way to carry his culture with him despite being torn from his own world. Given that he often feels the separation fiercely, this means a lot to Glacius. It's why he's brought the mystery item with him, which he now begins to reveal as he steps up to the table beside Emily. The ice alien slowly brings his hand out from behind his back, long white fingers uncurling to reveal a small vegetable nestled securely in his large palm...
... That's a turnip. Yes, that's right Emily, he's actually acting on what Chris told him about that book you checked out; he may be misinterpreting an act of deperate boredom as one of genuine interest. "No one has ever offered to make clothing specifically for me... so, before you begin, I wanted to show my utmost appreciation for this." There's a hopeful smile on the ice alien's face as he extends his hand towards her now, offering the turnip to his friend.

At the bar
However, the big blue rock monster (who is disconcertingly similar to a certain Vault Monster she's seen only recently) looks very out of place. And not even because he's a giant monster - Sasha is good at people, even if the people are less... people-y than she's used to, and he looks distinctly uncomfortable.
Welp. Only one way to find out. She downs the rest of her glass in one and makes her way over, stopping beside the big guy and trying not to look like the fact he's a small Vault Monster isn't deeply threatening.
"I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're not much of a drinker."
o/
"Not in these situations, no," Glacius responds carefully, turning to face Sasha. "I do not like crowds... and this place does not seem like a wise place to indulge, when one must constantly be on their guard." He doesn't mean it as a criticism of the people around him, though it could probably come off as one; it's just that the ice alien takes what he does very seriously, and still considers himself on duty even though he's been pried away from the world where his mission was assigned. He can't afford to risk inebriation when the gods like to torment them without warning, as that could lead to injury or worse--and it would render him unable to look out for the people he cares about...
... It'll probably take a lot to get the disciplined warrior to learn that he can lighten up a bit every now and then. Even his response to her idle inquiry is fairly deadpan.
no subject
But he's not the only one who can deadpan like a boss. "Hey, don't need to tell me twice. I've seen bars where the patrons were just as likely to blow themselves up with molotovs as they were to actually drink 'em." She leans one elbow against the bar and rests the opposite thumb in her pocket. "But this place feels... different. Its got a much nicer vibe to it."
She leans towards Glacius slightly, like she's sharing a secret, but her volume doesn't change, and her expression is a slight smirk. "Not that I'm gonna indulge. Like you said, wits up."
no subject
The ice alien pauses, then tilts his head. "Of course, recalling such events assumes you were here at that point."

Bar
Nonetheless, it's polite to offer. This seems an easier way of getting to know him as well. He's one of the more elusive members of the guard, for reasons of his own.
no subject
He spots Maketh before too long, immediately heading over to her. Maybe if the humans in here see him interacting with one of their own, it will ease their suspicions too much. At least no one seems actively angry or frightened, or nosy enough to try and eavesdrop on their conversation! Glacius folds his arms behind his back and dips his head in a polite bow of greeting... and then, after eyeballing the seats at the bar--seats that look a little on the small side to him--opts to stand. He's tall enough that it shouldn't be awkward, though if she asks him to sit, he will.
"Maketh, correct?"

BAR - 2 nerds for the price of one
Naturally, however, Newt and Hermann will be bickering the moment they set foot in the bar. It hardly matters over what; they will always find something to argue about. As it is, Newt's attention is immediately drawn away from the argument as he spots Glacius at the bar. Needless to say, he hasn't seen an alien like him before--though he has, in fact, met a couple aliens. He might've linked his mind with some to save the world, but they were far more malicious than the ones he's encountered in the last year and a half. And this alien is huge.
Not kaiju huge, exactly, but like...Garrus huge. Garrus was cool, even though Newt didn't know him for very long.
"Holy cow, who's that guy?" Newt is not good at tact. It's not loud, persay, but he's not making any move to temper down his volume from a normal conversational level. He glances back at Hermann with a grin. "I'm gonna go say hi!" Aaaaaand without waiting for an answer, he's going to move his way over to Glacius, hopping up onto the barstool next to the alien.
"Hey!" His grin is all friendliness and curiosity. "I'm Newt, who're you?"
sorry for nerd delay, nerd sick!
When Newton trails off mid-sentence (some pitched defense of Crest toothpaste, as if it had any relevance here, as if whether toothpaste sparkled ever did), Hermann tenses reflexively, his eyes not needing to follow Newton's. No, when he looks over the bar, searching, he knows precisely what's got his attention, without having to confirm it. He doesn't goggle himself, doesn't stare, though he does startle. He'd seen Mr. Garrus, too, but the sight's still a surprise, an anomaly.
Hermann grimaces when Newton's voice carries, and never relaxes out of the contortion, the lines pinching further as Newton launches himself. Hermann barely had time to open his mouth for the futile protest.
His jaw tight, he swings first to the coffee cart to obtain and grip one-handed two mugs before following, keeping two meters back, wary eyes moving between the two. Friendly curiosity is fine, winning enough. Newton might not even be offensive this time around. Less easily friendly, if mildly curious, Hermann keeps that distance, watching.
not a problem!
"My name is Glacius," he responds after a moment's pause, banishing the worst of his confusion; he might not be used to humans being so openly friendly right out of the gates, but as long as Newt is being pleasant he'll work with it. The gelatinous covers of the alien's gills--of which there are four in both sides of his neck--work gently as he speaks, seeming to more or less fill the role of lips, working in tandem with the vocal folds in the pit of his throat to aid in his pronunciation of common. "Is there... something you need?"
additional apologies for lateness and slowly coming off hiatus...
It's so cool.
"Can I ask you some questions? Because dude, you look awesome."
Bar!
He miiiight have had too much coffee.
But he does know he hasn't seen Glacius here at all, and given the way the alien is scanning the crowd, he's probably not here just for the fun of it.
Yess! Hello friend!!
"Ah... business," the alien rumbles out, still catching up to the sudden greeting. He clears his through as the worst of his surprise fades, rubbing his knuckles against his chest briefly. "I was meeting with someone." Another beat, and then he can't help but notice, "...You seem to be having a good morning."
:D
"Every morning I wake up is a good one, friend," Amos answers back, amusement in his voice at the alien's surprise. "Who're you meeting with? If you don't mind me askin', I'm just curious. You can always tell me to mind my own beeswax."
Amos is, in fact, incredibly nosy and loves gossip, which is why he gets along so well with the jabberjays, who repeat anything they hear.
