Intro Log: Arm Yourself

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-15th
Warnings: Stalkers, newbies, and cute loot!

Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).

Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.

Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.

All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ She shakes Natasha's hand, firmly but briefly. ]

I am an Avenger.

[Well, that gives her a bit of a pause. Natasha hadn't said anything about Avengers, so it's not as if Wanda picked it up from her saying it. And since Natasha has no reason to think she's talking to a telepath who could just ... easily dig into her mind for that name anyway, she'd better ask about this Avengers connection.] What year? Or, what universe might be a better question.

[As in, she was one too and she definitely does not remember this woman on the Avengers.]

Yours, most likely. You are familiar.

[ Natasha's mind feels the same, which is more than Wanda will say out loud. ]

We meet during the Ultron incident. I am the furthest in the timeline, along with Dr. Banner. Captain Rogers and his friend Barnes are also here, as is Vision.

I know Steve and Bruce. I sort of know Barnes. Sort of. It's complicated. [Because it's more like Barnes in the form of a brainwashed Hydra assassin who has made quite a name for himself.] I've never heard of a Vision or an Ultron, though.

Then it is in the future for you.

[ She gestures for them to walk. ]

Captain Rogers is — from before the serum was administered to him.

Clever, huh? You're not wrong about that!

[ He still isn't sure what he could do for others. But he'll just worry about that when the time comes. ]

Just let me know if there's anything I can do for you. To, uh, say thanks for showing me around!

[The question baffles her enough that shes speechless for a good few seconds. Long enough for Misa to start questioning the monster.]

I am a shinigami you-- [She bites down on the insult with her teeth, for many, many reasons.]

[She's also just going to watch, as this girl goes up to the monsters to ask them questions. Her hand is on her sword and ready to flash out and rescue her, yes, but maybe it's best for her to learn this way if she's not willing to learn by listening.]

You brought him up. [But, though skeptical, she seems willing to let it go, examining Dean more closely.] But, you are able to see spirits then? Even if they're not called Casper?

[face_kick]

How odd. [It's a good thing she is who she is and not from some other division though, because she shrugs, finally leaning back and giving the poor guy a little space.] Not the weirdest thing I've come across so far here, I suppose. Maybe you have hidden potential for powers or something.

[Another slight shrug, and then a bright smile from the previously rather grim-looking girl.] I'm Kuchiki Rukia.

[face_kick]

I'm in agreement.

[It reminds her, uncomfortably, of when she didn't have her powers, which feels like ages ago. But she got a good ally out of that fight and it's looking like she'll get one here too.]

[Rukia sees an opening and goes for a ranged option, for all that she could flash step over there. Holding out her palm and aiming she shouts out a spell name and a crash of red fire flies toward the one he's against.]

[Too bad it only glances. Aiming is hard when your opponent likes to be invisible.]

Is that so? How strange... [She's not entirely sure she believes it, but he looks like a child, and she doesn't want to disabuse a child of the notion that they cannot die. Not one that still seems to be living, anyway.]

I have noticed that there seem to be quite a few people like that here. It's very much not the case back home.

[face_kick]

Very well, nice to meet you. I just arrived this-- [She hesitates, as she was going to say 'this morning' but she's not really sure that's accurate? Cave lighting is weird...] This day.

And shinigami is not my name. My name is Rukia. [A little bit of a smile at her own personal joke.]

I will ask if I think of anything.

[ She smiles, brightly, at him. Wanda's been incredibly self-sufficient here, but there is no telling what might happen. ]

Here, these are the shops. What do you like to eat?

[That's not right at all. Quietly, internally, Frisk tries something they haven't had to try in a very long time.

The fighting is getting louder, again. The light of day doesn't seem to have a source, cavern rising overhead and the ceiling clear cut, fully visible even at this distance. Cave walls loom over decrepit buildings, and

[Good thing they're never waking up then, huh? Frisk's expression shifts, for a moment- almost like they're about to laugh, before it's quickly concealed behind a sleeve,]

I thought of someone else.

[That's all he's going to offer for now]

Maybe it's part of the theme.

[Cue giving Kaneki a little bit of a look. WOnder what this kid's deal is.]

[Doesn't take a genius to pick up on how something's wrong, how that little comment seems to have engendered quite the response from the kid. They sorta lock up, freeze on the spot.

He watches them. Doesn't say a thing, doesn't need to interfere. Just watches 'em patiently, hands in his pockets. They're safe, and he's gotten them to safety, and he's kept his promise to a dead lady. That's the important thing.

He inclines his skull faintly.]

Suit yourself, kid. You can give me a ring if you need me. Should have a phone on you somewhere.

Pretty much. ( these are not as big as last month, but more annoying. harder to sneak by. she sighs, and watches the keychain slide straight into the side of it nicely.

Kate, for her part, adds a knife from her bag to that wound, stabbing instead of throwing. ) I'm fine.

( it missed. ) You? ( she pushes her sunglasses back up her nose and tasers another one as it darts by. )

[ Thank the lord. Someone that will encourage his heavy drinking lifestyle. This is why you're going to be his new best friend. Not to mention allowing him to be the most offensive - this is the best.

Though the Hell comment earns a snort as Dean shoves his way into the bar with a shoulder. ]

Hate to break it to you but i'm one of the assholes saying it ain't Hell. I mean, I can see where you're gettin' the idea with all the dicks around here, but i'm pretty sure it could be worse.

I have no idea what really happens at home. It depends on your interpretation of alternate realities.

[He admits, settling in for a longer explanation.]

So, I have a friend named Steve. He arrived here after I did, but from a time before we had ever met. He didn't recognize me when I introduced myself to him. Back home, though, Steve never mentioned a word of this place to me, and he would have if he'd been from my past, if he'd remembered anything that happened here.

Probably, we're doppelgangers of some variety or another. Or, this Steve isn't my Steve, is only so eerily similar that I can't tell the difference, despite our long acquaintance. Last, maybe something seriously convinced Steve that it would be a bad idea to warn me about Hadriel, but I can't imagine what it would take. He's always scoffed in the face of prescription and prophecy.

[He could try to find a way out on his own, but something tells him that's not a good idea.]

Yes, that would be great. Don't want to be trapped forever in here with monsters.

[Both a fire user AND a swordswoman? What couldn't she do? Rashid's starting to think she could be a match even for the all-powerful Ryu.

He picks up where her attack left off and goes into a massive whirlwind, tossing it far away.]

Phew, that's another one down.

[He'd do that more often if it didn't take so much out of him.]

Souji shrugs, still smiling politely. "I've moved around a lot - I know what it's like to be new in town." Not that this is much of a town, strictly speaking, but the sentiment is the same.

"My name is Souji Seta. Welcome to Hadriel." And because the other man seems to be a Westerner, he holds out his hand in offering to shake.

Wha- KYAAA!!

[Misa's question is cut off as the monster takes a swipe at her. She falls backwards, escaping its claws but landing in no position to run away. She is left staring up at the creature, dumbfounded. A shinigami would never attack a person like that.]
