Intro Log: Arm Yourself

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-15th
Warnings: Stalkers, newbies, and cute loot!

Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).

Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.

Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.

All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Dean's taken to wandering as of late - not something he wants to admit the reasoning for, but he's doing it all the same. Walking, just because he can. And today he's noticed that once again there's a steady trickling of new people from the colosseum, which means keeping his eyes open that much more, observing people as they walk past, looking out for unfamiliar faces and taking in the newcomers that he happens to walk past, one by one.

Though, this chick doesn't seem too happy that he's noticed her in the first place and his eyebrows shoot up considerably at the question because uh, that's a weird one. Yet not quite unfamiliar. ]

Yup, Casper- sorry, but you've been had.

[face_kick]

Casper? [This is not a reference the girl understands, sorry Dean. Just your luck you found a ghost (sort of) not only from Japan, but who has been dead for over a century.]

Who is this Casper?

[kickingand]

[ Oh. Well. Whoops. One would think that he should know better considering his own certain someone that also doesn't understand cultural references, but he can't help himself.

Sorry? ]

Ahh, let's just forget about Casper, he's really not worth the trouble.

[face_kick]

You brought him up. [But, though skeptical, she seems willing to let it go, examining Dean more closely.] But, you are able to see spirits then? Even if they're not called Casper?

[kickingand]

[ That gets an eyebrow raise because... ] Kinda complicated. Most of the ghosts and spirits I see make themselves known without any doings on my part. Not like I have to try too hard to.. y'know- find Waldo when he's already right there.

[ Dean, stop using references NO ONE UNDERSTANDS. ]

They let you find 'em when they wanna be found.

[She refrains from asking about this 'Waldo' character because, really, it's not important. All he gets is brief look of confusion across her face before it settles into self-assurance. She's back on ground where she (sort of, kind of) gets what's going on.]

That explains it then. You have the power to see ghosts and spirits, so you can see me. It's strange that I don't seem to sense anything from you, but. [She shrugs, like she's heard of weirder. To be fair, she has.]

Powers? No, uh--

[ Dean waves his hands a bit, because powers? He has none of those, and the last thing he wants is to give off that particular impression. He's never wanted special abilities, not in the slightest, and the fact that she thinks he does is... interesting to say the least. ]

Just got a regular noggin, no powers to speak of. Either means your corporeal, or- I don't know. Not as see-through as you used to be.

[face_kick]

An ability to see spirits, I mean. It sounds like you have at least some familiarity with them. Though it could also be... [She trails off, looking a little troubled, like she's not entirely sure about being not-a-ghost.] Perhaps something has happened...

Familiarity, yeah. I've got more than my fair share of familiarity with spirits- [ He says it at least with a modicum of amusement. ]

But uh, if it helps- i've heard this place makes some people corporeal.

[face_kick]

I see... [He speaks as though it's the familiarity that's unusual in its degree, not the seeing itself. Something to investigate maybe...but later.]

Oh. Huh. That's... unusual. It explains a lot of things though, I suppose. [Not that she looks entirely comfortable with this.]

Don't know if explains is the word i'd use, cause it's all kinds of weird, but hey- if it helps, then more power to ya. [ He only says it because the fact that it happens at all makes no sense whatsoever, but he guesses that's not ultimately the point right now. Not when you're fresh faced around here and trying to figure out what the hell's going on. ]

What about this situation is not 'weird'? [It's a rhetorical question--we all know the answer is 'not a damn thing'.]

[A small thinking noise as she mulls this over.] Well, perhaps. That... that arena, there were monsters there. Not terribly tough, but for someone inexperienced, well. Are they in the rest of the city too?
