Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).
Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.
Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.
All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-15th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[Sato accompanies him, making some curious small talk along the way as they approach the shops.]
From the sound of it, I take it you don't believe they're actual deities then?
no subject
[Other people in town would probably not be so generous in their description of this town.]
Not really, no. I'm sure there's an explanation for who or what they really are. But for gods, they seems awfully powerless, considering they apparently can't control everything this city does.

[He shrugs. Some gods.]
That's okay. We don't need them. We can figure out a way on our own! Good ol' human ingenuity. Or whatever a person might be. Some elbow grease and a confident smile will get us through.

[Squinting into the window of one of the shops, Sato spies some promising-looking shirts hanging on a rack. Admittedly some look like they were made for someone with bizarre proportions, but he can probably find one that will work.]
Speaking of problem solving, I think there's one thing dealt with. Excuse me while I duck in here. Won't be a moment.

[While Sato gets himself a shirt, Elmer pops into the nearby food shops and grabs himself some snacks. When Sato comes out, Elmer's munching away on a small bag of cool ranch Doritos, and offers some over.]
Lucky day! Look what I managed to snag.

While he declines the Doritos with a small shake of his head -- it might be stereotypical gamer food but really not to his tastes, he does add:]
Actually, what I could really do with is a cup of coffee. Any chance of finding a cafe around here?
no subject
[Man can't live in Doritos alone, anyway.]
I guess the next thing you'd need is a place to stay then, eh? There are plenty of open apartments around. Including in the building I'm in. I think you can just pick whatever you like and call it your own, so long as no one else has. Rent-free!

[Elmer will prattle on as he leads Sato towards the strange houses and apartments, which are close to the shops. He points them out as they approach.]
There they are! I'm in 1403. A four-bedroom house, all to myself, since my roommate up and disappeared on us. So if you're a solitary fella, there's a lot of space. If you'd rather roommates, there's plenty of opportunity for that too.

Oho, more than just an apartment. I'm surprised nobody's come by to steal some of those free bedrooms. Who wouldn't want such a nice young fellow for a roommate?

[By this point, they've gotten to his door. He doesn't even keep it locked. It's not like he's got possessions to keep safe.]
Home sweet home! They're not much, but you can take a look.
[Elmer doesn't have much, but one thing that would stick out to Sato would be Elmer's Gameboy Advance sitting on an empty bookshelf, next to a few games as well. Unfortunately, the batteries are dead, and he's already run through the spares he's brought.]
orz catching back up slowly sorry!
[Because yes, seeing that Gameboy just sitting there is a whole conversational inroad that Sato wasn't expecting. Let's just see what he's got here for games...]

[The games Elmer has are all JRPGs. In Japanese, as a matter of fact. Golden Sun, Breath of Fire II, Link's Awakening, and Dragon Warrior. He lights up when Sato mentions them.]
I do! Well, I did. Batteries are all dry, I'm afraid. Had I known I was going to get dragged to this city, I would have stocked up on more. You a gamer, then?
no subject
[He asks, looking through the small pile of cartridges. In Japanese isn't a problem, but... ]
Hmm. Not even any Mario games?
no subject
[He shrugs at the question.]
Not at the moment. I traded in what I had to get those ones to play on a trip I was supposed to be taking. Supposedly if we leave here, we end up right where we left off like nothing happened. Good to know I won't miss our cruise! You a platform fan, then?
