Intro Log: Arm Yourself

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-15th
Warnings: Stalkers, newbies, and cute loot!

Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).

Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.

Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.

All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Crow only flutters to a halt on the ground when he suspects that he's flown far enough to get away from the stalker. It gives him time to catch his short breath. ]

Phew... That was... waaaay to close for my comfort! I wonder if that guy— Yikes!

[ He's cut short by the stalker lunging out from its invisibility, sending him off his feet in an instant toward the guy probably just catching up. ]

Stab it, stab it, stab it!

[ Only now in his flurry of panic, does Crow realize that he has a much bigger stabby object than the keychain he left behind, in form of a freaking sword. ]

What, with this?!

[In Ichigo's defense, usually when a talking animal of a supernatural bent tells him to do something, they're telling him for a reason. So he listens to the crow and instead of drawing his sword, he sinks the kitty-cat knuckle-knives into the stalker's torso, dodging sideways as he goes.

...it's not very effective. Ichigo stares as the creature wheels around, roaring at him, and then disappears again.]

--hey, why didn't that work? I thought it was gonna do more, like really hurt it or keep it from turning invisible again!!

[ This kid just—

He used the—

This is it. Today's the day Crow is going to be eaten alive by a hideous monster. Strewn apart with teeth and claws. Plucked like a duck. Cooked like a goose.

Crow pulls around to come to a swift landing right on Ichigo's shoulder; just about slapping him upside the head with his wing. Oops. ]

I never said that! Use your sword, kid! The sword!

[ The stalker is creeping around them. It's difficult to hear, but there's a sort of clattering of its claws against the ground as it lunges out at them again. ]

Yiii—

[ —is Ichigo's only warning on the direction of the stalker before Crow takes off from his shoulder to get into the air. ]

You're the one who brought me the cat thing in the first place!


[He hears it. He can hear the claws and feel the movement a second before it gets close enough to hit him. In an instant, he unhooks his sword from his back and brings it around hard. It connects solidly, and there's something satisfying about it -- a got you kind of feeling.

But it's not enough to keep him from yelling back at Crow.]

What was I supposed to think?!

I didn't know you had a sword!

[ Oh, the stalker is dead? Let Crow fly right back over to him, be a little grossed out by the dead thing, and then continue the dialogue. ]

Maybe think 'oh, there's this cat thing. but oh, wait, I have a freaking sword'!

[ Bit of an afterthought to realize how bad ass that whole thing was. This kid has some talent.

He should... probably say something. ]

...anyway, thanks for saving my tail feathers.

[He's not listening. Ichigo yanks the tiny cute knuckle knife out of the stalker's scales and shakes the blood off of it. He mutters to himself:]

Gross.

[On closer inspection, it looks like the cat thing is completely ordinary. Ichigo tosses it carelessly over his shoulder; it lands unceremoniously on the stalker's corpse.]

Don't worry about it. You'd better get out of here. It's not safe right after the Door's been opened, and the monsters are gonna hang around here for a little while. There's a city that way. That's where most of the people are, and it's not too bad there. Just stay out of the smaller caves around the edges of this one -- that's where these monsters are gonna go.

[funnybird]

[ He's getting ready to hop away and take off to get the heck outta here, but stops. ]

Uh. Wait a minute? You're staying here? You've gotta be a special crazy to stick around without some backup!

[ Not that he's volunteering or anythi-- Oh. That's exactly what he's doing. ]

I mean, I do owe you one. And you could use an eye in the sky so those things don't sneak up on you, right?
