Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-15th
Warnings: Stalkers, newbies, and cute loot!

Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).

Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.

Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.

All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Ah, shit. That's not what she wanted to happen.

She darts forward to where Rin is lying, kneeling quickly and dropping her container of food next to him.

"Anything broken? You okay?"

Rin sits up, grimacing a bit as he rubs the bump on his head.

"Yea, I'm fine..." Nothing that won't heal in a few seconds. Still, falls don't tickle. He groans softly as he looks Jo over. Huh, she's kind of cute.

He shakes his head rapidly as he changes his thoughts, because he likes Shiemi, damnit! He laughs himself off.

"Yea, I'm good. It wasn't that bad. Uhh... what about you? I didn't land on you or anything, did I?"

He's... kind of a klutz like that. Wouldn't surprise him if he did, but it wouldn't stop him from feeling bad for it.

It's okay, Rin. She is pretty cute.

She immediately shakes her head at his question.

"Nah, I was a few feet out. You missed me."

Rin smiles.

"Great!" He helps himself off the ground and holds out his hand to her. He kind of can't help but notice her basket, though.

"Hey, how did you get so many?" Reaching one was hard enough for him, he can't imagine picking a bunch. He's also not used to roughing it. His biggest trial to get food was to go down to the convenience store on horridly hot summer days.

Jo stands on her own, dusting her hands off before holding a hand out for shaking.

"I've had a few weeks of practice climbing around." Plus she's kind of tiny. It helps.

Oh... Not what he expected. Oh, well. He takes her hand and shakes it quickly before letting it go.

"Man, you must be good." Rin probably is, too, when he's not distracted by good-looking girls telling him not to fall. "So, which kinds taste the best? And is there a place to cook?"

I mean, it probably tastes fine like this, but cooking is best! Teach him everything you know, Jo. When it comes to food, he'll probably listen.

"Didn't anyone tell you about the spires?" Jo turns to point to the tall points in the distance.

"There are apartments in there. Bedrooms and kitchens and stuff." She digs through her basket and hands over a fruit that she knows from experience tastes a little like an apple.

"Here, take this."

"Apartments? Oh, no, I already have a place to live! I just... have to figure out where I'm at and where my teammates are." And what kind of weird field trip this is. Rin's not really phased yet. You'll have to forgive him, Jo.

Rin gently takes the fruit. Awe, y'didn't have to!

"Thanks! This looks great."

And, Rin realizes he doesn't have any supplies to cook with. Shit... Maybe he should check out those apartments after all, if he can't find his teammates.

"You won't be able to get back to that apartment if it isn't here." She isn't sure if he's new or not, but she just wants to point it out. In case he doesn't realize it.

"This one you can eat without cooking or anything." She adds helpfully, in case he was hungry enough to eat right now.

"Isn't here?" Rin's expression drops to one of mild disbelief. No way, just how far are we from home? It's an uncomfortable sensation to not only not know where he is, but to be told by strange people that his home might not be here. Maybe he should check out those apartments.

"....I don't have any money, though..." he groans painfully. So, not like he could afford an apartment.

"Oh," Rin looks over the fruit in his hand. "Good to know, thanks!" He flashes another smile. He's not really prompted to eat when he's talking to somebody, much less a cute somebody.

Jo shrugs and shifts her basket to her other hip.

"None of us do. There doesn't seem to be an economy here." People make do with what they can find.

"As long as the apartment is free you can claim it."

"Really?! That's so neat!" Rin is practically jumping for joy! He can just picture it now. He'd claim an apartment and take care of himself, and when he finally found Yukio and the others, he could brag about how responsible he is! All his friends would be shocked, Yukio would praise him, and maybe then Shiemi would date him! Yea!

"It's perfect!" Rin pumps a fist into the air in all his excitement. But wait a second...

"Hey, is there a way to find people around here? Like an announcement or something?" He still has no idea where he ended up, and even less of an idea on how to find his friends. "I found this phone in my pocket, but I can't call any of them."

"Yeah, of course." Jo nods and pulls out her own phone, ready to show him how to do what she's about to tell him about.

"There's a video network thing? You can post to it and if anyone knows you they can respond." She's still getting used to replying to people, she hasn't tried posting to it yet.

"Whoa, it's like sci-fi...!" Rin's jaw drops in amazement. Who knew technology got so far. Fast, easy, free. He'd have to do that when he got a chance, but, first things first. Can't play this game on an empty stomach. He'll probably struggle with this anyway, and doesn't want to embarrass himself around this cute girl.

Which reminds him...

"Oh, yea! I'm Rin Okumura. Nice to meet you." Way to have a far delayed reaction, Rin. Still, he flashes his biggest smile, being as warm and derpy as can be.

"Hi." She nods, wondering if she should hold out her hand for him to shake.

"I'm Jo, Jo Harvelle." In the end she decides to offer him her hand, holding it out with a smile.

Rin happily shakes her hand. Cool, I learned all this new stuff and got to meet someone cute. Today's starting pretty good!

Even still, his stomach reminds him he has other things to do, as he feels the nagging groan.

"Awesome, thanks for showing me everything. Hope to see you around, Jo!" He flashes another smile before he wanders away to go find housing while he munches on the fruit, curiously looking around at all the fascinating scenery.
