[ Jean's never been much for parties -- at least, not this sort. The professor's never been much for these mixers, and the nature of Jean's powers just about assured that she would mostly keep to herself, avoiding places where people congregated. It's chaos, the hum of voices and the additional chorus of thoughts, but she's gained better control of it all the same, learning to treat it as white noise, attempting to block them out to at least hear her own thoughts.
People are having fun here tonight, and she's nursing a light beer at the counter, consciously keeping out of the way of others, and not entirely certain about how to break the ice with people. See, being a telepath is one thing, and being sociable is an entirely different thing altogether.
But she's observing the people anyway, curious as to just what kinds of people have made their way to this place, picking up on fragments of thoughts, an outsider looking in. But when someone comes up beside her, she speaks up first. ]
