In the early morning of August 23rd, a siren will sound. No need to worry, this isn't your usual siren- instead of the ear-piercing sounds of the Silent Hill event (thanks, Sharon), the music that plays over the city is a short, happy tune.
Is that a rainbow above the buildings? Why is everything so lush with grass? You wanted water and now candy has popped out of the faucet instead- that's bound to get annoying after awhile. Welcome to the Loud Valley event, which plays nice, happy music, showers you all in flowers, stuffed animals, cake, and smiling emojis, and gives you your very ownmonsterer, companion to play with!
Each character will be getting a companion for the duration of the event, something which, like in Silent Hill, is a reflection of them- but rather than reflecting their fears and flaws, this companion reflects their positive qualities and happiness. The animals will appear to characters when the sirens sound and will be more than happy to just chill out with them, whether by getting some nice pets and cuddles, following them around, or meowing/roaring/barking/hissing/etc at them for some much-needed attention.
Enjoy!► This log covers August 23rd-August 30th.

[Adam still has Cabeswater with him here, but it's become more bittersweet. He knows now that when he goes home he'll lose it - that Cabeswater will be gone, not just from his mind but from anywhere that he can reach. His thoughts don't dwell on it, exactly, but it's an awareness, a piece of knowledge that he can't forget.
It's worth it for Gansey's life, but Adam will still miss it when it's gone. He can't describe what Cabeswater has been to him, how it helped him, showed him what it meant to enjoy something for the pleasure of it. He would never voice these thoughts aloud - he doesn't want Gansey to ever feel guilty for Cabeswater's sacrifice. It was worth it, it always will be, but that doesn't mean there's no sadness to it.
But this - it's like a piece of Cabeswater here, and really here, not just in his mind. Something anyone could see. Something that belongs to Gansey, but that they can all share, if they want. How could Adam help but smile?]
Maybe it's trying to get your attention. There have been a lot of strange things happening.
[He walks over, marveling at the fish. How very Gansey.]

After a moment he sits down, right in the middle of it all. ]
I noticed. The candy, everywhere? Even in the faucets, even in the shower, for Christ's sake.
Do you think it's the gods? I suppose it must be. I just can't believe they managed to do this. I never thought I'd see these trees again.
[ The fish swirl around him, through his hair and around his fingers. ]

It seems like they can do just about anything if they want to. Why not this?
[And why not something nice, for once? Don't they deserve a little peace?
Adam knows better than anyone that what you get doesn't necessarily have any correlation with what you deserve, but right now it feels like that doesn't matter. Like they've been through so much, and for once they get something that's a little less than awful.
He's smiling, watching Gansey play with the fish. He wants to reach out, but he doesn't quite.]
I found a deer earlier. It followed me around.

You found a deer?
[ He looks startled, though pleased, and smiles at Adam. ]
Jesus, it's not going to come and live with us is it? I thought Lynch was the one responsible for bringing woodland creatures home.

It was a lot like one of Ronan's deer, only I guess it was mine.
[He smiles at the thought, a little wry.]
I didn't bring it home. We've got enough animals roaming around this place anyway.
[It's only luck that Ronan hasn't pulled anything else out of his dreams - they have Chainsaw and Aspen, plus these strange fish of Gansey's right now, plus whatever else the others have found this week.]

The animals and the lights. That's what he thinks of what he thinks of that place.
He ought to think of Cabeswater too. That's as much Ronan's as any of the rest of it. ]
We do. Probably too many, although Chainsaw feels like part of the gang now anyway.
Maybe it'll follow you anyway. I didn't expect the trees to appear inside. This is one of the nicer things they've ever done.
[ By they he means the gods. It's very unlikely to last, but at least they can enjoy it for now. ]

There's not much room for a deer in here. It might blot and trample your city.
[Though Adam supposes it might not, really. It had seems calm enough around him, and not afraid of Ronan, either, or any of Ronan's creatures. If it really is Adam's, that would make sense. Adam is wary of a lot of things, but his friends have long since won his trust. Likely the deer would take to Gansey quite well.
That might be a nice thing to see.]
You're right. This is much nicer than some of the things we've had to suffer through. I guess they're giving us a break.
