Everything seems more or less normal in Hadriel on the 14th - at least at first. But wait, who's that over there? Why are they walking so weird? Are they feeling okay? Wow, did they just try to bite you? Oh shit, you might've seen a movie like this before. That was definitely a zombie.
But hey, it's no big deal. A few zombies here and there are pretty easy to avoid, especially when you can outrun them without too much trouble. They're only really dangerous if they're fast or if there are a lot of them, and they sure aren't fast! Only - well, before long, there are a lot of them. You can hardly go outside without running into one, and mobs form quickly. Went out for supplies? Let's hope they didn't follow you - you might get stuck in that shop, mobile corpses pounding on the door. Oh, and don't stand too close to the windows of your house. They'll be more than happy to smash the glass trying to get you.
Don't worry, though! A hard blow to the head will take these zombies out, and you'll be sitting pretty, as long as none of them bite you. None of them bit you... right? Wow, what a relief. We're all glad you're not concealing a life-threatening zombie bite from your friends! Who would do that, anyway? Now if you can manage that until the 20th, you'll be safe and sound as the zombies shamble out of the city. Hopefully you won't be shambling with them.► This log covers September 14th-September 20th.

Something involving one of those fluids that seems to leak out of humans, or those near enough like them, dark and red. Swarms of some kind of insect bursting from his skin so they can settle down on the mass of rotting flesh and -
Ah.
Well.
That, he is fair sure, is not on the roster of generalized human abilities. Nope.]
Huh.
[His eyesockets flick up and down as he appraises him, not really knowin' what to think and not wanting an inch of that to show. That's the nice thing about his smile, though. It makes a killer poker face, and always has.]
Should I ask?
no subject
Tyki had an excellent poker face when actually playing poker. Otherwise he was very much an open book. The curved smile and the way he seemed conscious of his current decisions.] They were a gift given to me by the Earl of my Family.
They feast on flesh and meat though they will each just about anything when it comes to a body. [Including bones.] Not to mention they haven't eaten in a while. [Which he could tell by how rapidly they were devouring the rotting corpses.]
no subject
[He scrutinizes the spectacle evenly, the nominal speed of his steps slowing further the longer they go at it. Guess he doesn't have to be in a rush anymore, huh?]
Should I be worried? Not like I got meat on these bones but, y'know.
[He'd debate the morality of such an action, but it's pretty clear by now that the undead hordes ain't sentient. Far from it. Mostly it's someone holding that kinda power that makes him a mite weary.]
no subject
[He was a dangerous man but he had yet to hurt anyone... Well, no one that didn't deserve it or wasn't his fault. Yet he couldn't deny he didn't have fun.] They could but they won't attack without my permission. I wouldn't recommend hurting them in any case.
no subject
[As easy and simple as he might say, sure I trust your pooch is an absolute sweetheart who would do me no harm, so I'm sure you won't mind if I stay as far away from it as possible until it stops growling at me.]
No worries. I'm steerin' clear. Just not sure why you got 'em hangin' around in the first place. Do they just... [he gestures vaguely in Tyki's direction,] chill in your bloodstream in the meantime, is that it?
no subject
He knew what Sans meant. He was clearly dancing around the subject. He wanted them fed, ready to go and able should the need arise and hungry Tease just made him want to feed them.] If I were to let them all out there would be no where to put them.
Mostly within my Dark Matter. I think. [His arm holds outwards as several wings pop out of his arms. He's choosing not to touch them again as they just climb out of his arms, his shoulders and the against his chest. A rather large one with striped checked patterns like the back of a poker card and a skull for a head flits into the air. It is five times the size of the others. There is no way dozens of those could fit in his body and yet there it was.] I'm not quite sure how they all fit inside. They just do?
no subject
[He cants a supraorbital ridge upwards in mild interest. That is...well, it's a little freaky, a little disquieting, but mostly it's just damn neat, because he's got the privilege of distance, of a clinical observation that he's always excelled at.
The judgment? Well, that can come later.]
Dark matter's a funny thing. Defies most spatial conventions, I'd think.
no subject
[It starts to spiral around his wrist and hand as it flares to life in a coil. He has perfect control over it considering it is what he wields to destroy Innocence.]
I never much put any thought into it. Just that I have it. [He's very poorly educated and has no idea what Sans means by that other than the current situation and how it can relate to it. He's guessing it means compact or special.]
no subject
[He doesn't watch the things as they have their way with the shambling, broken mass of dead flesh and groans and grumbles. If there's any hope for the poor suckers, if any of 'em are sentient and got a scrap of who they might've been before they got dragged into all this shit - well, chances are what they're going through now is a mercy.
Now that he's ever been one for mercy kills. Nor does he regard killin' as any kinda mercy, not in general. Nah, that ain't his style.]
Your family ever been to space, Tyki?
no subject
The Tease have stopped eating for now as they flit into the air at the thinning crowd that had they had created a hole in. The groups still shambling in their direction soon enough were still coming. As far as Tyki was concerned they were free meat and some of the bodies were untouched. He was still contemplating breeding them for more. They would need a fresh host for that.
A few are flitting overhead Sans and just inspecting him from afar. At least none are trying to land on him. They are behaving.] That's possible?! [He was a noble from the Victorian Age of human society. The curiosity/shock on his face registers that as much.]
no subject
[The moon landing must've been a real game changer for the human race. It was written all over their history; the arbitrary skepticism, the dumbfounded responses, the live broadcasts of astronauts with arms and legs like marshmallows as they took that one giant leap for mankind.
Humans were free to reign over the surface, the sky, the space, everything beyond. Monsters, they would have to make do with the little slice of Underground that was made available to them and be damn grateful about it.]
Was only when humans started studyin' space that they started gettin' an idea for what dark matter was. See, it's kinda like...stuff that you can't see, not conventionally, but the way it interacts with the rest of the universe, we just kinda know it's there.
no subject
Yet this was something that even intrigued Tyki enough to listen. He may not understand it fully but as a way to break free from the Earth into something that could be much bigger? The thought alone was inciting. The mere fact that Tyki with his ability could survive anywhere including his own vacuums when he created them by choosing not to touch the air and oxygen within a space made him wonder.]
That would explain a lot of things that I can and cannot do. A lot with the other family members as well. The odd parts that don't make sense.
no subject
[He winks cheerfully. Nothing like a bad pun to lessen the impact of what might be otherwise a pretty deep and strange conversation.]
So, what else can ya do? Do I wanna know?
[Should I know is in the fine print there, not that he's gonna go encouraging anyone to read that old thing.]
no subject
Orz, another pun. Not that he minds.] You could say that. It's a little exciting to think of it. [Though, he is looking up at Sans at his curiosity. He hasn't exactly shown anyone else anything like this other than his Dark Matter blasts and his Power to Choose to Lilith when trying to kill her. The Tease were displayed to Rhys when trying to keep him corralled but given they ate anything was hidden.] A lot more all revolving around my ability. The Tease were a gift.
[He wasn't out to impress but he did like showing off. Building a moment for more precise of a statement.
no subject
[He draws the words out thoughtfully, though he doesn't offer any further commentary. Really, he's just a guy who excels in knowing things he shouldn't. It pays to know everything you can know about someone. And Tyki seems to like him, which just makes it easier to discern what he may.
The walkways are devoid of blood or flesh, or any sign that anything unpleasant had occurred there at all. It's a good thing Sans doesn't have skin, or the strangeness of it might raise gooseflesh along his arms and spine. As it is, he simply resumes walking at a much more reasonable amble.]
You've got quite the arsenal, huh?
no subject
Sans simply wasn't the enemy and that is what made their interacts so safe. It was an absolute with him.] It's really just one. I can simply do a lot with it.
[His hand curls in the air in front of him and Dark Matter begins to spiral upwards along it to the point it was inky black even to the tips of his fingers. It's the lighter color that starts to charge there in a ball waiting to be fired that is the real power behind it all.] Dark Matter is something we all share. Some more powerful than others. [The Earl's was so concentrated it didn't pulse like his and it was far more destructive.]
no subject
Versatility makes up for a lotta things. [Is he speakin' from experience, maybe? Maybe. But he's not about to say so. He watches the blackness creep into the air, thick and fluid and reminiscent of a thing he doesn't think about. A man he doesn't think about.]
no subject
[He was lazy and having things like Tease helped him accomplish his goals when the one needing to be destroyed was too boring to kill or hunt. Or just generally not worth his time. The first signs of approaching zombies to replace the ones that had been destroyed were making their way over the horizon and with a raised hand the blast started to grow in his hand until it just erupted outwards from that pinpointed ball in his hand outwards towards the crowd. It tore apart what it touched easily as if it didn't exist at all.]
no subject
Really makes this whole "runnin' for your life" thing kinda moot, don't it?
no subject
[He liked Sans. He was not human and right now he did not oppose him. Friends could easily talk him down out of a situation yet he did not have many here in Hadriel. None that impacted him like this except for Sans and probably Chris. Yet Sans had the advantage. He wasn't human. Tyki night be a monster of a man but he was still very much a person and needed/wanted friends. He hadn't yet let go of all of his humanity.]
no subject
[Boy but he does not need to think about that ever, ever again. Especially not with Papyrus here, and alive. God, alive. Yeah, Papyrus should...never hear about that, he thinks. Just file that away in the box of things he never tells him. Not even in the vague allusion sense.]
Emotional extortion, huh?
no subject
Just thinking about the Earl and given what his power was plus how the monster acted like it simply wanted a hug... It disgusted him and he was wasn't pleased.] Of the very highest capability.
It's funny. I tried to kill him when he tried to absorb me but had that been the real deal, I don't think I could've. None of them.
no subject
Safe to know, but not to indicate that you know until the opportune moment.]
"Them"?
no subject
It was just a sign that he was getting a little too far excited at the moment showing off that his glamour was slipping. His skin may have been that deep Portuguese brown once upon a time but after being a Noah it was always grey unless hiding.]
You're a family man. Wouldn't you fight tooth and nail no matter who it was that hurt them?
no subject
Wouldn't you fight tooth and nail, Sans? Wouldn't you protect your family?
Years ago, he might've said that he would. Without hesitation. Yeah, absolutely, even if he's the fragile little weakling that needs protecting half the time. Now, though?
Well, now he knows exactly what kinda guy he is, and it ain't the kinda guy that steps in the way of anything, even to save the one bright spot in his life.]
Wouldn't anybody?
[He says it amiably, the note of obviously ringing beneath. Thankfully, he's gotten awfully good at dressing lies up as truth, couching the words between vague platitudes that get people assumin' what he wants them to.]
