Everything seems more or less normal in Hadriel on the 14th - at least at first. But wait, who's that over there? Why are they walking so weird? Are they feeling okay? Wow, did they just try to bite you? Oh shit, you might've seen a movie like this before. That was definitely a zombie.
But hey, it's no big deal. A few zombies here and there are pretty easy to avoid, especially when you can outrun them without too much trouble. They're only really dangerous if they're fast or if there are a lot of them, and they sure aren't fast! Only - well, before long, there are a lot of them. You can hardly go outside without running into one, and mobs form quickly. Went out for supplies? Let's hope they didn't follow you - you might get stuck in that shop, mobile corpses pounding on the door. Oh, and don't stand too close to the windows of your house. They'll be more than happy to smash the glass trying to get you.
Don't worry, though! A hard blow to the head will take these zombies out, and you'll be sitting pretty, as long as none of them bite you. None of them bit you... right? Wow, what a relief. We're all glad you're not concealing a life-threatening zombie bite from your friends! Who would do that, anyway? Now if you can manage that until the 20th, you'll be safe and sound as the zombies shamble out of the city. Hopefully you won't be shambling with them.► This log covers September 14th-September 20th.

What're you thinkin'?
[Because that is not a good way to preface a potential plan, he'll just say that now.]

[ He looks over the edge down to the growing group below. ]
Yeah, I'm not doing that.
[ ...maybe he will, if it's his only option. ]
no subject
Yeah, I figure that ain't a real option.
[He should probably get up. Probably he should.
Probably he should stand, and take stock of the situation, and do something about it. Probably he should. And he's - he's just...havin' a lotta trouble mustering the effort necessary, that's the thing. He just sags there, and don't see the point in trying any further.
She'd been scared. She'd been so goddamn scared and he'd sat there and didn't even comfort her with a lie, empty utterances of formless platitudes like It's gonna be okay. 'Cause it wasn't. And they both knew it.
He needs to not think of that.]
I'll be up in a minute. Really.

Sans keeps insisting that he's good to go. That he'll be up in a minute. Except Crow, as dense as he is, has this aching feeling that his pal isn't just tired. Jumping to that sort of conclusion isn't in Crow's nature, but the huge contrast of his bad-joke friend and this is impossible for him to just brush off. ]
No rush, pal. Sorry if I'm rushing you.
[ Crow wants everything to go back to normal now. Back to when zombies weren't even a thing Crow ever worried about. ]
It's just this whole situation that's got me riled up and worried. And there's not much that I can do to really help anyone. You know, being a bird and all.
[ He could count on one foot the few times he felt as helpless as he had now. ]
But I'm trying, I really am. Maybe too hard. Just tell me what I gotta do, okay?

[A stupid, empty reassurance that he knows don't mean much, comin' from this rotten little sack of bones that can't do anything but sit here, sagging against the very weight of gravity in his bones, trying and failing to right himself and get his goddamn shit together long enough to wrench himself out of this situation. This situation that's easily remedied, if only he could find it in him to remedy it.]
You're right. You're, uh - you're right.
[He chuckles. Meant to be a reassurance. Hell only knows if it is.
Arya had trembled and been stunned and afraid but so had so many others. So had the Vulkins, who just wanted to help. So had Undyne, who'd been brave and certain and stalwart and so, so fucking Determined, to no avail. She couldn't've known, though. None of 'em could've known how badly the odds were stacked against 'em.
He thinks of the kids.
He thinks of Papyrus.
He thinks of Wade, of Newton, of Hermann, of the way the latter two had reacted when he told them.
He thinks of a man that ain't even there anymore.
He thinks of Alphys.
And slowly, wobblingly, he stands.]
All righty, bud. We can, uh - we can exit stage right, y'know? Like we did for the show.

[ It's difficult for Crow to really get what's going on with his friend. He may be a smart bird, but reading emotions has always been a little tough for him. Whether he just succeeded in getting through his thick skull or just annoyed the crap out of him, Crow may never know. But he'll see it as a win.
Maybe something for them to talk about when the zombies aren't an issue anymore.
For now, he'll just worry about helping his friend out of here. Stage right. ]
