Everything seems more or less normal in Hadriel on the 14th - at least at first. But wait, who's that over there? Why are they walking so weird? Are they feeling okay? Wow, did they just try to bite you? Oh shit, you might've seen a movie like this before. That was definitely a zombie.
But hey, it's no big deal. A few zombies here and there are pretty easy to avoid, especially when you can outrun them without too much trouble. They're only really dangerous if they're fast or if there are a lot of them, and they sure aren't fast! Only - well, before long, there are a lot of them. You can hardly go outside without running into one, and mobs form quickly. Went out for supplies? Let's hope they didn't follow you - you might get stuck in that shop, mobile corpses pounding on the door. Oh, and don't stand too close to the windows of your house. They'll be more than happy to smash the glass trying to get you.
Don't worry, though! A hard blow to the head will take these zombies out, and you'll be sitting pretty, as long as none of them bite you. None of them bit you... right? Wow, what a relief. We're all glad you're not concealing a life-threatening zombie bite from your friends! Who would do that, anyway? Now if you can manage that until the 20th, you'll be safe and sound as the zombies shamble out of the city. Hopefully you won't be shambling with them.► This log covers September 14th-September 20th.

The flames do take him aback; he blinks a few times to make sure he's not just seeing things. Even being in this place for a while, he still doesn't totally accept things like magic. But he decides to ignore it for now--letting himself be distracted could be dangerous.
He steps off to the side to stay out of the way as Rin attacks some of the zombies. "You want a fight, kid, you can have one. If the zombies don't take care of you first."
Firo, for his part, has no plans to run. He instead sets his knife on the first zombie in arm's range, keeping an eye on Rin all the while.

Not when he still has things to do, like destroy Satan! He'll show Firo what for, just let him watch!
Still, though, Rin will keep his eye on Firo to make sure he doesn't get hurt. He didn't study herbology (or, uh... much of any class for that matter) to be able to heal Firo if he should get tainted by one of these things. And none of his other friends are here, so he'd say it would be bad news if Firo even got a scratch.
Rin strikes down another zombie hard by driving his sword into it's head and ripping it out. These things are gross, but what are you going to do. The numbers are actually increasing more than he's used to fighting at one time. Looking at Firo a moment, he wonders if he should grab him and run.
Slow or not, it's bad being cornered by any form of monster. He's pretty sure Firo would actually just pitch a fit if he tried to pull him out of danger.
Hmmph. Stupid brat. Still, though...
"Hey, I think we should get out of here! There's too many!" Rin tries to yell over his shoulder as he forces another zombie back.

Firo wrenches his knife out of a zombie's face and spares an aghast look at Rin.
"Run away? That's your plan?"
They are getting swamped, though, even he can tell. Much as it pains him, maybe this guy isn't wrong. And if they're both going, it's not as embarrassing.
