feeding dragons, OTA

Who: Pell, Flick, and hopefully you!
What: two stupid hara decide to try and feed the dragons
Where: across the river near the silent hill zone
When: right now!
Warnings: dragons!!!!!!

A. the shops and over the river

Do dragons like jerky? Pell and Flick are going to find out, having decided to take a more pacifistic approach to keeping the dragons away from the inhabitants of Hadriel. They’re going through all the shops and collecting the meat products in a half-assed bag made from a sheet, then dragging it over the river practically to the Silent Hill Zone, out where no one should ever go. This seems like a safe place to feed dragons. They dump out all the jerky and potted meat they’ve found in hopes of luring the beasts to this safe area, of sorts. This probably looks very strange to anyone in the area (where you should not be!!!) and merits inquiry.

B. the signal fire

Hmm, the dragons don’t seem to be coming. They seem to be continuing to wreak havoc on the city-parts of Hadriel. After some discussion, the two little hara decide that they need to do more to lure the dragons over. And what’s better than a dragon-shaped ball of flame being shot into the “sky” of the cavern? That oughta get their attention, right? It certainly might get yours.

C. running for their lives

The dragons are coming! Yay! … Gee. This was a stupid fucking idea. They get that now. Someone please hear the screaming and come help? The dragon of your choice is currently after them, as it had no interest in the questionable meal. In fact, the two idiots who put it out smell far more delicious than jerky. (And are just about as helpless.)

Just because there are massive, scaly beasts circling the skies--or in this case, the limited space between the rooftops and the cavern ceiling--doesn't mean Glacius is going to let up on his patrols. In fact, it's the exact opposite; the galactic marshal has been out and about, trying to monitor the dragons' movements as best as he can, trying to understand if there's any sort of pattern to their behavior so that he can predict where they might strike. So far, there doesn't seem to be one; they rain chaos and destruction down on the city of Hadriel indiscriminately, which means that he has to constantly be on his guard, ready leap to the defense of any that get caught in the way of their attacks.

What he wasn't ready for was for somone to actually try to attract the creatures. Given that he's been keeping his eyes focused towards the cave's ceiling, Glacius doesn't miss Pell and Flick's makeshift signal flare when it rockets up into the sky, leaving a sizzling, fiery trail behind it. He also doesn't miss the sudden burst of screaming that rings out down the streets when it apparently works. He has no idea what these two (assumed) humans were attempting to accomplish--and neither do they, if their panicked, raucous retreat is any indication. Immediately behind them the massive blue dragon is descending, its vast and leathery wings beating the air with strokes so powerful they whip up plumes of dust and send smaller objects clattering down the street. Glacius takes a step backwards and braces himself against the gusts, all gills flared and mandibles pushed widely apart as he gives a thunderous squawk of surprise when Pell and Flick dart by him.

"Y-you imbeciles! What were you trying to accomplish?!"

After her conversation with Arya about apparently keeping the dragons alive, Jo has been trying to patrol the city. People are stupid enough to not kill them, so Jo is going to keep an eye out for people in trouble.

And that fireball caught her eye. Even if that's not someone in trouble, it's worth checking out.

It doesn't take her long to follow the fire and she only knows of one person who can cast such things. She keeps her eyes open for Pell and finds him with Flick sooner than later.

"What are you doing?"

Jo just stares for a long moment. She then turns her attention to the pile of meat and shakes her head.

"That's not going to be enough. What if they come after you?"
glacius: (HUNDRED MTHRFKRS CAN'T TELL ME NOTHIN')

"It looks like it worked too well--" fire, there's not much time to finish that thought with the dragon in hot--or perhaps more appropriately cold--pursuit. Glacius squawks again, turning on his heels and gliding briefly before his feet touch the ground once more and he takes off running after Pell and Flick. He detests this manner of movement--the bounding strides feel heavier and clumsier than his usual slow and measured steps-- but it's not like he has a whole lot of choice here. He could likely escape the dragon's clutches by liquidizing through its claws or fangs, but it's still not an experience he wants to have!

"You humans and your incessant meddling with forces you do not understand," the words blast angrily out of Glacius' gills with each heavy breath. "Now where does it leave us? We can't return to the populated areas--this beast could fell the buildings and take countless lives!"

Ushahin stands nearby, watching the fools drag the meat. Sigh. Once again, he is reminded that he is stuck in an underground city with fools that are less than a tenth of his age. Such children. He's wondering precisely what they are doing when he catches the flicker of thoughts from one of them and--oh dear. This is not a good idea. Nope. Not in the slightest.

"Please tell me you're not serious." This is one way to decrease the surplus population of Hadriel.

Flick turned toward the voice, unfamiliar as he hadn't met a whole lot of the population here yet. He liked to think he wasn't a fool, naive and a bit sheltered, yes. Although he was a child. Maybe not in age, he was 28 despite looking in his late teens, but hara had yet to test themselves, still thought in small terms. They were the beginning of their race, still weighed down with all the preconceptions brought from when they were human.

It didn't help that unlike Pell, Flick had very little experience with weaponry. Pell had at least handled guns in the past. Flick didn't like violence. How he had convinced Pell to go along with this notion and prompted Pell to concoct this crazy plan was anyone's guess.

"I was." Flick tried to stand taller than he was and taller than he felt. It seemed that everywhere around him were people taller, more powerful, more graceful than he could ever be.

"What's wrong with it? This way no one gets hurt."

"You want to tame the dragons? How would you feed them?"

...Jo just thinks this is a bad plan all around.
glacius: (So that's how it is.)

[personal profile] glacius 2016-10-17 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Glacius casts a quick glance in the same direction that Pell is looking, then returns his eyes to the streets before him so that he doesn't trip or crash into anything. "Do you think that will be enough to contain them? It seems likely that they would simply escape again, unless the monsters that haunt that area somehow manage to fell them..."
knifecollecting: (I'm trying to change your mind)

[personal profile] knifecollecting 2016-10-18 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"But what if the dragons don't want the monsters?"
knifecollecting: (I can feel their eyes watching)

"You do realize what a dragon likes to eat more than anything else is live prey. And they are most territorial." Ushahin has been inside the head of a dragon back home and learned a great deal from her. The dragons here were different, but he'd still gone inside to see what made them tick. Their instincts had been easy enough to read, all confusion, anger, and hunger. He'd decided that staying out of their way was the best course of action.

He sighed, wondering how on earth that the residents of Hadriel were going to survive. Every time he turned around, he was reminded of how very young they were. It was like dealing with a group of children. "If they find you, they shall eat both of you before you can even wonder how it is happening."

knifecollecting: (I know you better than this)

[personal profile] knifecollecting 2016-10-23 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
She sighs quietly.

"Well. I don't think this is going to work."
knifecollecting: (You what-?!)

[personal profile] knifecollecting 2016-10-23 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
She knows he's right, that she should probably get the hell out of dodge before the dragons do come, but she's worried about him too.

"You're going to stay?"
knifecollecting: (I keep looking over my shoulder)

[personal profile] knifecollecting 2016-10-23 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Jo gives the zone Pell points to an uneasy glare. She hasn't been inside of it, she's been warned to stay away, but it still makes her worry.

"What about you in there?"
knifecollecting: (Been there Done That)

[personal profile] knifecollecting 2016-10-23 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
She still doesn't think it's a good idea. She shakes her head, turning her attention to the sky instead of the streets.

"Don't get hurt."
knifecollecting: (I'm not blind)

[personal profile] knifecollecting 2016-10-23 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
She forces a smile, but it's not convincing. She isn't trying to be convincing.

"Call me if you need anything."

She waits for a moment before nodding and disappearing off onto a side street.

"I do now. We don't actually have dragons back home. The entire situation's a little new. I just didn't think they deserved to die. I didn't see anyone else coming up with a plan!" Flick added rather indignantly.

Flick was indeed young, all hara for the most part were. Incepted as either children or teenagers, their race was still growing, learning about themselves and what made them special, what made them tick. Who they were.

"Then help us. Please?"

"Rare is the being that deserves to die, dragons least of all. It tends to happen anyway." Ushahin would neither condone nor condemn the decision of these people to kill the dragons. He wished there was another way, but where else could they go? If they stayed in the city, they would either kill or be killed. It was a damnably bad situation to be in.

He folded his arms and stared at the pair of them, expression going stubborn. "No. I will not assist in the plans of fools." Especially fools who were likely to be eaten.

"Then why did you come over here? To tell us that you weren't going to help?"

Flick crossed his arms over his chest, trying to appear taller and more confident than he actually was. It probably didn't work. Someone once called him a 'little imp'. Flick has yet to get over the remark. It's been years. And he looks a little like an imp. He certainly isn't big and tall and commanding. He melts into the background, where he actually truly shines.

"Fine. I don't want your help then."

"I was hoping to dissuade a pair of children from doing something foolish." Why does no one ever listen to him? He may be old and he may be crazy, but Ushahin has learned well how to survive after twelve-hundred years of living. "But by all means, go ahead." He waves his good hand at the pair of them.

"Do continue on." And may the gods help the pair of them when a dragon inevitably tries to chow down on them.
