Event Log: Fourth Wall, Part One

Who: Everyone in the city + Fourth Wall visitors!
What: Part one of the fourth wall event, hosted by Fear, Confusion, and Delight!
Where: All around the city
When: October 24th-November 1st
Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!

If you're not from around here, you may be wondering what's going on. You've woken up out of the blue in the colosseum, or near a temple, or in one of the numerous other locations in the city. You're somewhere underground and it's dark, cold, and maybe a little unnerving.

Luckily, shortly after your arrival, the road below your feet begins to light up in a gentle, warm glow. The light points you in a set direction and, if you choose to travel that way, will lead you toward the center of the city, where there is a large gathering of others who are lost here like you, people who might know their way around a bit more, and even some of the gods who rule this place.

There are lights strung up on poles throughout the large clearing, casting a comforting glow onto the tables beneath them. The tables are abundant with lots of food that looks simply delicious- though, none of it tastes quite like it should. The tarts taste like green beans, the mashed potatoes like cheesecake, and the chocolate seems oddly reminiscent of steak. In addition, there are decorations artfully placed around the meeting point. If you see them moving, don't worry- that's probably just your imagination.

Also distributed along the tables are shot glasses, filled with a sludgy, yellow substance. If you're brave enough to consume them, they taste strongly of mint and will give you a much needed energy boost, circumventing the need to eat or sleep for a full 24 hours! After that, however, everything hits you all at once, so use them wisely. Some of you may remember these shots from our How Delightful event earlier this year!

In addition to all of the above, there are also party poppers strewn around the area. Each popper can jet out some strange objects- glitter bombs, seashells, plastic dinosaurs, maybe a live lizard or two- so be careful! Feel free to use your discretion on these, but remember to keep it small!
_

Of course, you can always not travel that way. The rest of the city has plenty of places to explore- maybe you'd like to stumble in our Silent Hill zone, have a quick look around the alien orchard, or check out any of the god temples that can inspire their chosen emotion. Be careful not to get lost in the tunnels leading away from the cave- none of them can actually move you above ground, but you may run into a few monsters on the way.

For those of you who have been with us awhile, please bear with the gods while they try to adjust around these new folks! Join in on the festivities if you like, or try to orient as many of the others as you can. Start a community outreach program, start a fight club, introduce your parents to your weird cave girlfriend- nobody's judging!

Well. Some of us might be.
_

Enjoy the fourth wall event at Hadriel! Once you're settled in feel free to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.

Fourth wall characters do not enter with phones so they cannot reach the network- however, if you'd like to handwave that they somehow got ahold of Mello's Newcomer guide to avoid the 'where am I/what is this' sort of questions, then feel free!

Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers October 24th-November 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well! Fourth wall characters will not have posting access, so grab an in-game friend if you wanted to do anything separate from the main log.
► Fourth wall characters will be in the city for at least one week, though they can stay for longer. The party will go on throughout the entire week, thanks to Delight's boundless energy!
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

A high dragon is nothing compared with Lord Woolsley. [ Cecily replies, mock-gravely. ] I'm so happy you understand my struggles.

[ Though their banter is mostly jest, there is an underlying understanding. Even knowing so little of each other, she feels... bizarrely comfortable in his presence. ]

There are others here you may know, though I warn you: they may not know you. [ Cecily explains, smile fading a bit. ] Leliana, Cole, and Dorian are all in Hadriel, too.

[ There is another with them from Thedas, but Pup is not at her side at the moment. ]

8B Another horrible reckless Inquisitor for Dorian to have heart-attacks over

[personal profile] nohallaback 2016-10-25 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's certainly good that our friends are here. [Just ignore the casual way he drains his wine at the mention of Dorian that's not the look of someone who's heart is stomped all over because it's Dorian but not his Dorian and nothing about that makes sense.]

Not that they'll be able to keep us from mischief I'm sure.
closerift: (young today)

yes excellent

[personal profile] closerift 2016-10-25 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh, don't think she doesn't see that. Cecily, keenly feeling the recent loss of her own husband, has downed more than her share of wine lately. ]

That it is. What would we do without them? ... Not to presume, you understand, but I personally would be hopeless without the lot of them.

[ Advisers, companions, and others. ]

Here, mischief has a way of finding us, actually. [ "Mischief" and much, much worse. She takes a measured sip, not letting the horrors of Hadriel's past show in her face. ] So you can blame it on the gods rather than have that responsibility piled onto you, for once.

[ The royal "you," of course. ]

I don't know what you're talking about, I'm the paragon of caution and reserve. You certainly wouldn't find me being reckless enough to take on a Dragon head to head, that's just silly.

[Says the mage. The squishy mage. Clearly his Companions must find him delightful to travel with.

One of these days someone will figure out how to make child leashes and then his antics might be a bit harder to get away with. Maybe.

Not really.]

Honestly just incidental trouble that's not because of the 'greater purpose' is rather relieving.

[personal profile] closerift 2016-10-25 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah ha. Of course you are.

[ Just as she is. Cecily smiles again, albeit smaller than before. ]

Well, there isn't much "greater purpose" here, you'll find. And, ah... for as long as you're here, you're welcome to stay with us. Hadriel's meager Inquisition has a bedroom to spare.
nohallaback: (Smarmy little shit)

[personal profile] nohallaback 2016-10-25 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You say that as if you doubt my caution! [Pretending at offense, one brow lifting.]

Well, that would certainly be appreciated. I've gotten rather spoiled having an actual bedroom, nice to see I won't have to go without.
closerift: (gone you know)

[personal profile] closerift 2016-10-25 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That's something we don't have in common. [ Cecily glances curiously at her companion, eyes drifting toward the tips of his ears. ] I hardly know anything about the Dalish. Sera hates to talk about anything "elfy" and Solas is a prick whenever I bring it up.

[ Also, he vanished. That ass. ]

Can you tell me a little about yourself? Before the Conclave?
nohallaback: (Just a thought)

[personal profile] nohallaback 2016-10-25 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Good to know some things are the same. Seras was rather squirrely at first when she saw I was an elf, and Solas is...

[Racist Grandpa Solas.]

I don't see why not. Spent most of my life once they figured out I was magically inclined being trained so I could be First when the Keeper retired. Didn't ever stop me from being trouble though, drove my mother insane and was more than often the one getting my siblings into mischief with me.

[Pardon him, he's just going to snag that bottle there, because that looks like it's peeling the varnish off the wood behind it. Just going to switch to filling his glass with face-burning liquor for now, that okay? He thought so.]

Spent most of our time in the Marches. Near border towns, so long as we weren't causing trouble no one wanted to start fighting too close to other's lands so it was fairly safe. Even had some friends in the villages we stayed near more often, some human children we'd play with whenever the occasion allowed.

[personal profile] closerift 2016-10-25 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You're a mage, then. [ She'd assumed, with the staff and all, but. You know what they say about assuming.

The deep drink is telling, again, but she doesn't comment. Yet. ]

You're practically a Marcher, then. [ Cecily states, chuckling. ] My family - I grew up in Ostwick. [ She tells him. ] You may have been close.

[ Did he exist in her world, free of the anchor and without the Inquisition? If not, did his clan, his family, live on without him? ]

I'm glad we were able to travel so much; I wouldn't have learned much of anything about the Dalish, otherwise.
nohallaback: (Everything's going according to plan)

[personal profile] nohallaback 2016-10-25 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I am, much to the Chantry's infinite and very outspoken horror.

[Offering a small smile at her comment.]

We did camp in that area at times, sometimes we'd send a group to the city proper to trade.

[It was an odd thing to consider, if they might have met and not even known it, if there was a Cecily Trevelyan living safely in Ostwick in his own version of their world. Or did she still go to the Conclave, and meet a less than pleasant fate?]

Without a doubt, I've learned more about humans than I ever thought I would. Our clan was't as insular as some can be, but even so, it wasn't often we had many human guests.

A mage and an elf. I thought I had issues relating to them.

[ She's a mild blasphemer, but she's both human and non-magical. It must've been some kind of difficult for him to convince them. ]

I've learned about most things more than I ever thought I would. [ Cecily states, taking a thoughtful sip of her wine. ] Not only about other races, but... well, you must know what I mean.

[ As Inquisitor, she's traveled to every corner of Thedas. He must have had a similar experience. ]
nohallaback: (Sure about that?)

[personal profile] nohallaback 2016-10-27 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It was especially fun when they tried speaking to Cassandra or Josephine instead of me.

[He shrugged lightly, taking a drink of his own, before nodding at what she said.]

Oh no I understand. The sheer amount of different things we have to be knowledgeable in to make it all work, it's a wonder we can still remember the fun things, right?
closerift: (to be lost always)

[personal profile] closerift 2016-11-01 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm, I imagine it would have been.

[ She had initially butted heads with Cassandra and hadn't agreed with Josephine at all, but both women have since become very close friends. ]

Are there "fun things?" No one told me. [ Cecily feigns a groan, leaning back in her seat. ] I knew they were keeping secrets.
nohallaback: (Smarmy little shit)

[personal profile] nohallaback 2016-11-01 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it depends if you count 'Dragon hunting' as a fun thing. Or the large library at our fingertips in Skyhold.

[A soft chuckle, as he just propped arms against the bar.]

So many friends to play Wicked Grace with is a plus as well.
closerift: (speak to the ocean)

[personal profile] closerift 2016-11-04 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I count both as fun, thanks. [ More the latter, really; nobody wants to end up fried to a crisp, frozen solid, etc. thanks to a dragon. ]

Ah. That. [ Cecily laughs. ] Glad to hear that Wicked Grace transcends all worlds. What would the Inquisition be without that game?
