Event Log: Fourth Wall, Part One

What: Part one of the fourth wall event, hosted by Fear, Confusion, and Delight!
Where: All around the city
When: October 24th-November 1st
Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!

If you're not from around here, you may be wondering what's going on. You've woken up out of the blue in the colosseum, or near a temple, or in one of the numerous other locations in the city. You're somewhere underground and it's dark, cold, and maybe a little unnerving.

Luckily, shortly after your arrival, the road below your feet begins to light up in a gentle, warm glow. The light points you in a set direction and, if you choose to travel that way, will lead you toward the center of the city, where there is a large gathering of others who are lost here like you, people who might know their way around a bit more, and even some of the gods who rule this place.

There are lights strung up on poles throughout the large clearing, casting a comforting glow onto the tables beneath them. The tables are abundant with lots of food that looks simply delicious- though, none of it tastes quite like it should. The tarts taste like green beans, the mashed potatoes like cheesecake, and the chocolate seems oddly reminiscent of steak. In addition, there are decorations artfully placed around the meeting point. If you see them moving, don't worry- that's probably just your imagination.

Also distributed along the tables are shot glasses, filled with a sludgy, yellow substance. If you're brave enough to consume them, they taste strongly of mint and will give you a much needed energy boost, circumventing the need to eat or sleep for a full 24 hours! After that, however, everything hits you all at once, so use them wisely. Some of you may remember these shots from our How Delightful event earlier this year!

In addition to all of the above, there are also party poppers strewn around the area. Each popper can jet out some strange objects- glitter bombs, seashells, plastic dinosaurs, maybe a live lizard or two- so be careful! Feel free to use your discretion on these, but remember to keep it small!

Of course, you can always not travel that way. The rest of the city has plenty of places to explore- maybe you'd like to stumble in our Silent Hill zone, have a quick look around the alien orchard, or check out any of the god temples that can inspire their chosen emotion. Be careful not to get lost in the tunnels leading away from the cave- none of them can actually move you above ground, but you may run into a few monsters on the way.

For those of you who have been with us awhile, please bear with the gods while they try to adjust around these new folks! Join in on the festivities if you like, or try to orient as many of the others as you can. Start a community outreach program, start a fight club, introduce your parents to your weird cave girlfriend- nobody's judging!

Fourth wall characters do not enter with phones so they cannot reach the network- however, if you'd like to handwave that they somehow got ahold of Mello's Newcomer guide to avoid the 'where am I/what is this' sort of questions, then feel free!

[ There is a woman in the city in blood-soaked clothes and with features similar-enough to one resident, Sharon, that it might catch the eye of someone who knows the teen. This interloper is older, though, in her mid-30s, but there is a similar fierceness to her bearing that might cause you to steer clear.

Rose Da Silva stepped out of the fog of Silent Hill and into the eerie glow of... what? Another god damn town? She's seen so much impossibility over the last few days that it's hardly worth her efforts to question the how and why. She and Sharon, her little girl, revealed to be the goodness of another woman's tortured, vengeful daughter, had found their way home. ... More or less. The fog had been telling, a sign that not everything everything had been right with the world. Still, she and Sharon had escaped Silent Hill and its insane cult, somehow managing to do so with both of their lives.

And Chris? She swallows hard, a lump forming in her throat. No, don't think of that. I have to find a way back out of here, or... a way to find Sharon. If she's been transported back to Silent Hill or to wherever-the-hell else, then her daughter might have been brought here, too. She could be in danger again, and Rose sure as hell isn't going to let anything happen to Sharon, not after all they'd been through. ]

I'm coming, sweetie. [ She breathes, more for her own resolve than anything. So, covered in gore and eyes blazing, Rose begins her search, scouring the city from top to bottom, largely ignoring the other people and decorations and, in fact, actively avoiding them. Every so often, she calls out, hoping that there will be some reply: ]

Sharon?

[ It happens every couple of weeks. Not so much like clockwork that she can predict exactly when the gods will start their games, but still cyclical enough that she's learned when to begin to be wary—not that she isn't in a near constant state of fitful paranoia after the last several weeks. A few days in the temple, a talk with Fear, that fucking bed.

It figures they couldn't give them a break, but at least, thus far, it's just been Halloween decor from some soccer mom's basement; cute little spiders with brightly colored eyes, and plastic arms jutting out from the walls, or the floor, or the ceiling. It wasn't impressive, or intimidating. It didn't inspire joy, or hope, or even fucking confusion.

At least, it didn't until she heard a woman call her name from behind. She whips her head back, mind reeling. And there she is, ripped straight from a memory, blood and all.

Every muscle freezes, heart pausing, breath knocked out from her like some poorly written cliche. No, no, no. It's not the right time for people to come. People arrived once a month, and that time has already come and go. It came, and went, and she was all right with the fact that no familiar names ever appeared in the contact list because that's just how it was, and has always been.

But, still: ] Mom? [ Sharon does not want to believe it, and the word lingers closer to a confused sob than any real word. This can't be real. This can't be real.

Please, God, let it be real. ]

someone went all out for halloween this year, huh? shirtless as ever, Jay only seems mildly surprised by all of this - it's weird, sure, but a man's gotta learn to roll with the punches in life, right? (also, he was literally lifted out of one underground into a... better, nicer underground. there's also that.)

so he wanders in the direction that the light indicates, looking for all the world like he wasn't just dropped into another universe. in fact, if he sees someone on his path towards the centre of town, Jay will wave lazily and offer a; ) Hey.

[Well, this different.

There's an older man staring at a line of Delight's shots, a long-handled ax resting against his shoulder. He doesn't resemble any of the gods' current guests and is dressed in chainmail, mismatched armor, and a strange skin belt. Look a little closer and you'll notice the belt has some braids hanging from it. It might just be horsehair, right?

Sure, buddy. Sure.

Alexio crouches down and pours one of the shots out, prodding at it curiously. It doesn't burn his fingers.]

Aren't you a curious thing?

[Oh, and don't stare at his belt unless you really want to know what it's made of.

[Jo watches as the man plays with the shot for a moment before laughing quietly and standing from her position at the base of a nearby tree.]

Maketh Tua | Star Wars: Rebels ; ota

[It seems that Delight is responsible for this turn of events. Maketh takes her patrol through the city, pausing to check on the various changes and ensure that none of them seem inclined to cause harm to anyone. For the most part it just looks -- well. Fun. The semi-harmless variety that Delight feeds off of. But she does remember the aftermath of the fireflies and indeed the shots. One must always be on their guard.

Maketh shoulders her rifle, one of Lilith's few possessions that she claimed for her own, and continues on. She's not yet done finishing the repairs on her armor, or she'd be wearing that too.

In the meantime, she patrols, approaching strangers and checking in on any strangeness.

This is Hadriel. Most things are fully capable of killing you. It pays to be prepared.]

Kanan has....no idea where the Force he is.

Oh sure, he could probably pinpoint somewhere in the galaxy where he was supposed to be on this supply run, but one wrong turn landed him in what amounted to be some kind of city festival. It looked nice and all, but it was probably pretty suspicious. He had his eye out for imperial presence, even as he fussed with his comm, trying to get a line out to Hera.

He's growling, tapping it on the side of his hand to clear out the signal, when the Force decided to intrude in a way he really didn't like it intruding.

Danger.

He glanced up, and saw a familiar - and very far away - face from home.

What in the world was Minister Tua doing off of Lothal?

Iris Wildthyme - Doctor Who Expanded Universe - Fourth Wall visitor (OTA)

Iris isn't completely certain how she got here, to be honest. She doesn't remember getting out of her bus - actually, where is her bus? She can't see it anywhere, and this is a worry. More worrying still is that unpleasantly familiar tickle in the back of her awareness - not only the presence of another time lord, but the presence of another incarnation of herself. It's a dry, bitter echo of her own mind and she smiles ruefully at it.

"We're like a cockroach, aren't we, Bianca. I told 'em you'd land on your feet. I always do."

She eyes the glowing trail.

"It's a trap, as the Admiral said to the actress and the bishop. Oh well. Follow the yellow brick road."

If it's Bianca's trap, she thinks, at least there'll be drinks.

By the time she reaches the buffet, Iris is a lot less sure of her conclusions. The stuff in the shot glasses is nice, but it's not tequila, and the mismatched snacks - which delight Iris - aren't Bianca's style at all.

She casts her eye over the people surrounding her, watching who catches her eye and who avoids it, searching for faces she recognises. She's not looking for Bianca - she knows exactly where Bianca is, and that they aren't going to speak face to face.

But she'll speak to anyone else that happens to be nearby.

"'Ey, not a bad party! Where are we, any road?"

You know how, when you're in a strange place, any indication of your home is picked up with pinpoint precision? People speaking in familiar accents, for example?

Because that's exactly what happens when Kate catches wind of Iris' voice, talking to herself on the way to the party. (She's running the rooftops, of course, and follows from enough of a distance that she thinks the woman won't notice.

Maybe she does, Kate doesn't know.)

Eventually, and a few buildings away from where the main party is gathered, Kate drops down and makes her way to the tables and food.

And runs right into Iris.

"Call it Hadriel." Well. That is what they call it.

Hello, yes, can I talk to you for a minute?

[to say this is the weirdest thing that's ever happened to kara might be a bit of a stretch, but certainly this is up in the top five. she's approaching everyone she can to try and be overtly friendly! and ask for information!

she's putting on her best "i'm definitely a normal person and trying to deal with this without freaking out" smile, pushing her glasses up her face. maybe later she can find a convenient phone booth to strip in.]

[naturally she finds herself heading down the way towards the party proper, taking in everything with real interest and not a lot of fear. i mean, of course she wants to go home but she kind of feels a little bit like alice in wonderland right now.]

Cheesecake? It couldn't hurt, right?

[sure, it could be poisoned or make or small or anything but it just looks so delicious so she takes a small bite and ]

[Don't mind the skinny teen edging closer to the table with the food, eyeing the cheesecake longingly. He hasn't found Plagg yet, and if he knew the lazy Kwami he'd certainly show up by the tables soon enough, drawn by the lure of cheeses at the other end. Adrien's attention however was definitely more for the desserts. If his father was here he'd definitely not approve but he wasn't so... what was the harm?

Halfway to reaching for a piece of her own when the young woman takes a bite of her own and reacts, a brow lifting slightly in response.]

Please tell me it's as good as it looks.

[Were you trying to lead him somewhere, gently lit road?

Sorry but he's still rather paranoid after the incident at Adamant, so the welcoming-looking road is being ignored for the moment in favor of the less-obvious paths.

Of course this means that the elf soon enough finds himself wandering the caves. Wary enough of the noises he hears further in that he had his staff at the ready in his off-hand as he pressed on further. It sounded like there were some sort of bears in there.]

Don't remember bears the last time we were in the Deeproads... [That's where he was, right? It was underground, it made as much sense as any other options. Not there even ten minutes and making amazing life choices? It must be a new record.]

OH HI THERE

[Cole doesn't go to the caves often, but with the sudden influx of people, he just wants some quiet. They think too loudly. It figures that he wouldn't be alone, though. But the words catch his attention. There aren't too many people from Thedas left here.

He watches quietly for a few moments, then shows himself, speaking softly.]

It might be bears. I don't know. But it's not the Deep Roads. This...is a between place, too different from other places, tight and tangled.

Algidus | KI/Ax CRAU | OTA

Algidus is getting damn tired of waking up in unfamiliar worlds.

The vibrantly green-colored icy creature stirs with a low, rumbling growl, realization settling in before he's even fully awake--by now he's familiar enough with the feeling of displacement that he knows what's happened to him before he even takes in his surroundings. The air is stiff and stale, unlike the disgusting, humid heat of the jungle he'd been residing in for months before. The ground beneath him is hard and dusty--no grass or shrubbery. Lifting his head on that long, serpentine neck and opening his eyes to take in the cave around him only confirms his suspicions, and the alien slams his fist down into the dirt, giving a bellow that resounds with unspeakable frustration.

Again he has been torn from what he had known. Again he has been dragged to some unfamiliar world, upending any plans he'd been formulating, tossing him further and further away from his people. The wreck of the Tranquility is gone and with it, any hope of salvaging its technology to leave the planet or contact his homeworld. He can't even see the sky in this place. Is this to be his lot in life? Getting tossed around like a piece of refuse for the amusement of a callous, cruel universe?

He surges to his feet, cold rage and defiance forcing him to move. He won't bend to the forces that have brought him here, no matter how bleak things may seem. There must be a way out... though Algidus has absolutely no intention of following the path that lights up under his feet oh-so conveniently. It's too convenient. In all of the places he's come from, a mysterious guidance system has been used more often than not to herd him and other unfortunate beings to a place or group with the intentions of tormenting them. Instead he lurks about the streets of Hadriel, concealing himself in the shadows of dark alleyways, other times using his liquidize ability to hide as a mere puddle off the side of the road.

But waiting and watching grows tiresome, and eventually the tormented being makes his appearance. He rises up and reverts to his natural form--tall, powerfully built, and absolutely bristling with imposing energy. Perhaps his target is fast enough to dodge away from his grasp--otherwise they'll find their wrist or even their neck snared by a massive, freezing hand, the alien's glaring face looming in close.

"Where am I?!" Algidus demands, his frustration and suspicions with his circumstances peaking. To those who know Glacius, his face and voice might seem vaguely familiar... but his features and tone have both been hardened in a way that speaks to a soul that has long been poisoned by bitterness and resentment. "Why have I been brought here? Am I to be the plaything of humans again? I won't have it!"

It isn't like many people would enjoy such a gesture, but Rey in particular is not fond of people grabbing her. The cold doesn't bother her so much as the abrupt seize by the wrist, halting her from continuing any farther down her patrol route.

Out the corner of her eye, she thought he just might be another particular ice alien that she already knows. But it's clear right away from his eyes and color and different form that this is someone else. Perhaps from Glacius' world...?

Either way, he is met with a dangerous scowl from an annoyed Rey. A somewhat different Rey from the one Algidus knows, because the hand he's taken has, strangely enough, all fingers intact.

"Am going to give you five seconds to let. The fuck. Go," she says lowly, almost a growl.

A. Somewhere out there? (Coliseum)

[ When Matt wakes up, he knows instantly something is wrong. Gone are the sounds of New York City, the smell of garbage and gasoline and millions of people making their way in the big city. He's in a cave. There's comfort to be had in caves, for all that Matt's, y'know, never been in one. He'd always pictured the echo of sound, imagined what it would be like to hear everything that much clearer.

This would be kind of nice, if he hadn't been in his office the day before. 'cause if this is a dream, it's a bad one. He stands and unfolds his cane, feeling around for what he can already sense in his surroundings. He's in some kind of... circular building? (A coliseum, actually,) But it's not any building he'd recognize. So he's going to just walk his way towards what feels like an exit and if you wanna help this totally normal blind dude and tell him that's not an exit, feel free. ]

B. Let's get a party going (let's get a party going)

[ One way or another, Matt finds his way to the party. And the food. And he's. Very concerned? They all smell like they should, but Matt seems to have made the mistake of trying some chocolate and they. Well, his face says it all, that was not pleasant. Like, his taste buds can't be right, can they? ]

Is there some kind of visual I'm missing here? [ He's not asking you in particular, but if you want to help, please do. Otherwise this hot blind guy is going to keep giving the food his most serious, pensive stare possible. Yep, just a regular blind dude. ]

Probably worse, because they look amazing. Like there's these fruit tarts? Incredible. They taste like green beans. Don't ask me why, it's probably some weird gods warring bullshit or something. Delight's like "oh look food!" and Fear is like "You thought!"

Calanthe | Wraeththu | OTA

Cal hadn't bothered to clean up the blood--not that he would have had the time, evidently. It had dried into his clothing and over his skin, pulling when he moved. It was probably in his hair, too. He couldn't bring himself to care. The stink was enough to remind him it was there--rust and death and unfairness.

The cut on his cheek had stopped bleeding itself, but it stung where the tears were still flowing over it, freely and unnoticed as he took in the city around him with red-rimmed eyes. He was a mess, and far from the splendid dream that the Wraeththu were supposed to be for the dying gasps of humanity. If anyhar saw him now...

He couldn't even bring himself to be embarrassed. There wasn't anything. Just...emptiness.

Maybe he was dead too. Is this what dying was like? Maybe he was a ghost wandering a ghost city, lit for the benefit of spirits who still cared to see. Was he even one of them? Did he want to see anything about the place?

And yet... The lights were so alluring they were hard to ignore. He didn't belong in them. Not anymore. But when he tried to find a darker corner, and unlit piece of sanctuary, he couldn't. Like some cruel god was illuminating his pathetic form saying "look here and see the fallen." The only reason he didn't scream was that somewhere he knew it wouldn't have helped.

"Fuck."

Pell hasn't run into any of the new arrivals yet. It's the wrong time of the month and no one is screaming bloody murder from the colosseum, so he treats this like any other morning and sets out to check in at the clinic. If they don't need him for anything there, he'll go to his garden or the orchard... maybe he'll go get in some shooting practice with Maketh, he still can't quite handle Axton's weapon. Anyway. He's got places to be and things to do and the last thing he expects is to get hit with a sense of misery so strong it feels like he's been punched in the chest. Misery and anger and... familiarity. He reaches out with his senses and doesn't believe what he feels. What he sees when he warily peers around the corner.

"...Cal?"

He can't breathe. The other har is nearly unrecognizable, too thin and covered in blood. Covered. Pell's only seeing him from the side and a distance but he also seems to be crying, clean streaks on his cheeks and a glazed quality to his eyes. Pell swallows hard and steps forward, calling out again. "Cal. Cal, are you here?" He means that in both ways -- is he a hallucination or just out of his head? With what he just learned about Orien, the Cal he knew could be gone, lost broken.

Eventually his shuffling feet bring him right up to the bloody, wretched figure, and he stops in arms reach. He lifts his hand to touch the taller har's face. "I'm here, Cal."

i. arrival

[It wasn't snowing anymore at least.

That fact wasn't exactly reassuring as Hux turned to take in his new surroundings. The ground was steady beneath his feet and while it was dark, it was obvious this wasn't where he was supposed to be.

He glanced down at the lights which began to appear before him to form a path ahead. Where it lead to, he wasn't sure but at least he felt the familiar weight of his blaster in his coat pocket. He took a moment to peel off his gloves so he would be able to use it in a hurry if he had to. Given the dubious nature of this place and the fact he was certain there was something or someone watching him, it seemed like a prudent measure.

That left the question of where the path lead to and how he had gone from a collapsing planet too...wherever here was. This didn't seem to fit how the Resistance operated and it didn't make sense that they would capture him in this manner. Leia Organa and her band of terrorists were hardly this subtle. They would make sure Hux had no doubts as to his situation while in their custody.

He was fully expecting a trap as he followed the lights but at least with a trap there may be answers. Either way, he would tread carefully, expecting the worst.]

ii. party

[Hux wasn't sure what to make of where he found himself. The lights could have been leading anywhere but a celebration wasn't one of the possibilities he had considered. The decor was strange but he didn't allow this to lower his guard.

Appearances were almost always deceiving and he picked up a piece of strange fruit, inspecting it. Oh, he had no intention of eating or drinking anything here but if he could find something familiar, even a small detail, it would be something to help him figure out this situation so he could return to what he had to do.]

[Thus far, Maketh's patrols had yielded strange results, but nothing precisely useful. Clearly the gods had been meddling again, and this time their actions had resulted in a surplus of newcomers. Much more than any previous event. No doubt there was a reason, though Maketh doubted she'd enjoy the outcome. The gods operated on a logic entirely their own, and one that could only be hindered. Thus far she'd found no way to stop them entirely.

That would have to change, and soon. They were growing more confident with their power.

But, at the end of the day, there's little else she can do. Thus far no one has died and the people she's encountered have avoided serious injury. Why not enjoy the party? It's likely the last kind thing the gods will provide for a while.

Delight, at last, seems less inclined toward harming them.

She's halfway through a glass of something fruity and acceptably alcoholic when she notices a man with a shock of red hair, and nearly spits her drink out.

Oh, damn it all.

Maketh doesn't reach for her weapon yet, though she stands ready to if needed.]

What are you doing back here, General?

[She's not at all happy to see him again.]

Pharah || Overwatch

Colosseum

[Pharah wakes up with a start, finding herself in full armor and inexplicably unfamiliar with her surroundings. She stands and runs a system check on her armor. She may not know where she is or how she got there, but at the very least her Raptora armor systems were undamaged.]

[She takes a moment to look around her, making note of the colosseum she found herself in, as well as anyone else that might be in the vicinity. The rock roof of the place is probably the most disconcerting; who had the resources to do something like this? LumeriCo, possibly? But she didn't see any of their tell-tail pyramidal power plants.]

[She feels the warmth grow beneath her boots and sees the glow of light as the path appears before her, looking down and watching as it leads off into the distance and out of the colosseum.]

[Curiosity peaked, feeling the rush of stepping into the unkown, and wanting to find some answers about where she is, she follows the light trail.]

City Center

{Eventually, she makes her way to the large gathering, although for the most part she hangs around the edges and observes. For one, she's more familiar with assessing a situation than partaking in it, but additionally it would be hard for her to navigate the crowds with her armor on; the jump jets like large metal wings hanging off of her back.]

[She will at least remove her helmet and tuck it under her arm. She takes great pride in her appearance and somehow not a hair is out of place. She'll pick at the food and drink, confused by the mis-matched tastes. For now, she doesn't touch the shots. In a situation, she wants to keep a clear head, and if it looks like alcohol? She's staying away from it.]

city center

[Lucio's doing his best to keep the party going, playing music and making conversation. He's got an easy, friendly presence, the sort of thing that's great for drawing in wallflowers and making people feel comfortable.

Of course, because the actual game of Overwatch isn't canon, because that totally makes sense and isn't confusing at all, he doesn't really know who Pharah is. She might know him, however, due to his growing fame as a musician and sometimes freedom fighter. What matters to him is that she's standing to the side, looking like she's not about to jump in and have a good time. Is it shyness or a simple dislike of parties, or something else? Hard to tell.

Either way, Lucio slides over with a grin and a handful of berries.]

Hey, give these a try. They taste like red beans and rice, it's crazy.

( things that might strike you as odd: a woman walking barefoot through Hadriel. but that certainly seems to be the case - she wanders around, barefoot and in thick hide trousers, a loose top all in the colours of the forest (shades of green, of brown), not really following the light that's provided but instead exploring each building she comes across, fingers trailing along walls and - if you pay attention - a pulse of something not quite normal, almost like pure energy, occasionally makes its way from her.

she's getting herself acquainted to something new in the only way she knows how: to reach out to the energies surrounding her in this cave and try to understand them. what sort of life lives here, makes their home underground?

perhaps you'll run into her while she wanders, slow and easy as can be, through the city. if you do, the smile is inevitable, as is the bow of her head and the polite clasp of her hands. ) A pleasure to meet you.

[Kandara is not, as it might happen, the only barefoot individual in the caves today. It had been getting chilly when Corbin had shown up, but given the constant temperature in the cave and the lack of most things that might actually make it through the thick soles of his feet, for the most part he didn't bother with shoes]

[What he does bother with, is food, especially the free sort. Even if it tastes funny. Once you can get over that it doesn't taste the way it should, it doesn't really taste bad, and he's got a plate full of random things that he's eagerly chomping away on when he's asked the question]

[Jo was making her usual exploratory rounds of the city when she stumbles across the clearing.

The food looks good, and she was out scavenging for food, but she hesitates to try it. Maybe she just needs some encouragement.

Either way, she decides to stick around the party for a little bit to see what's going on. She takes one of the shots without question about an hour into things, and then rearranges her sword so she can sit on the ground near the edge of the clearing.]

Being the curious sort, Richie chooses to investigate the clearing. He instantly doesn't like it. It's too much of a party, too much of a gathering, and holds too many decorations that signify an artificial happiness.

Of course this was the result of one of the gods. They're never content to leave things alone, and their interference has never let to anything welcome.

Richie walks along the drink table, wrinkling his nose and touching the glass with his fingertips. The distaste turns into a deep frown and he opens his palm wide, shoving the drinks onto the floor and shattering the shot glasses upon impact.

It's the sound of shattering glass that gets her attention. Sounds like her kind of party, honestly; the kind that's less small talk and bad music and more punching people and breaking things. Peering down to her left, she spots the ruined shot glasses and the disgruntled guy behind the mess. Guy, singular. That's much less interesting.

Caleb Dume isn't precisely sure which planet this is, but the best part about it is that it doesn't seem to have much of an Imperial presence. He follows the lights with care, not really sure where they'll lead to but at least it'll get him out of the dark. As has become usual now, he keeps his lightsaber hidden, though he hasn't had the chance yet to ditch the robes that might point him out as a lost Jedi youngling.

His eyes widen when he sees the sheer amount of food and feasting going on, and for the first time in weeks the tension seems to leave his small frame. Braving the crowds, he shoulders forward, wondering if this is some kind of festival. But the food looks free, and the people here seem genuinely friendly, or at least in a good mood.

Okay - he wouldn't mind spending a few nights here where he could. Eat his fill - his stomach was already starting to grumble - carry what little nonperishables he could find, and maybe stick around to get the lay of the land.

His sense of paranoia didn't disappear, and Caleb still kept a wary eye out for trouble. But in a sense, he could at the very least relax tonight, knowing that primal needs were taken care of.

This place was all right.

She isn't really here to partake of the party, just to feel like she's keeping an eye on things. Ahsoka hasn't been here long at all, compared to most of Hadriel's inhabitants, but without anything else to keep her attention, making sure she's in the best position possible to protect people if things happen to go dragon levels of wrong again is the best way for her to pass her time.

But now there's another Force user here and the togruta finds herself trying to investigate from a distance, following the eerie familiarity until she can spot the source. It's a Jedi. A youngling or a Padawan, she's not sure, but he's familiar and suddenly she's so nostalgic for the reassuring patterns of her youth that she can't force herself to move any closer.

Caleb will likely be able to sense her watching him before too long, because she's just standing there staring, her lightsabers where they always are on her hips.

[Anyone who's come to know a small determined child in the city might see some stark differences with this particular version of them. For one, they seem older - more in the range of twelve or so - and while the purpose in their stride and the set of their shoulders might be the same, their wardrobe is not. They're wearing a jacket, a blue oversized thing that resembles the one that a certain jovial skeleton might wear, an a white woolen hat jammed over their head; a hat with ears and horns knitted onto it, like those of a goat.

And what's more, they've got a small ukulele slung over their shoulders. You might find them by the statue that came through with all the other keepsakes, playing along to the tinkling of a music box. Or maybe in the library, perusing the books and things eagerly.

Or, as things progress further - you might see them going up against the creatures and things in the caves, and dealing with them in a terribly...unconventional way.]

[And on the other side, we have this. They are a counter to the Frisk that wanders about in jacket and hat, playing their stupid ukulele like some absurd wandering minstrel. This kid, conversely, looks terribly, terribly determined - and in all the worst possible ways. They've got a strange tunic on (22 DEF), with a baseball bat astride on one shoulder (21 ATK, with a chance for 42), and they look incredibly, incredibly bored.

Oh, and one more thing.

They're here to raise hell.

They're looking for a FIGHT, unmistakably. They want YOU, yes YOU, to meet them in the pit, scrublord, they're ripped. They might initiate the encounter with a swing of their bat aiming for your kneecaps, or an uneven grin and the pointing of their bat in your direction.

[You know that creepy child you might've seen around the city? You know, the one with the ever-present smile and the fondness for knives and the red eyes? Yeah, this isn't them. But they do bear a striking and interesting resemblance to them, if only on second inspection. They're not wearing a striped shirt, for one, and their eyes are a soft brown instead of the unnatural and hard bloodstone red of that particular knife-wielding child who does live here. They're wearing a green jacket with the hood up, and they smile as if they know something you don't.

Mostly they hang around the snack tables, scrounging anything they can get their hands on that might indulge their sweet tooth. Chocolate, mostly, though they're not opposed to anything else. It tastes weird, but they're not picky. Creepy decorations can't keep this kid away.

Later, they'll experiment with party poppers, snickering as they watch the things explode in the air like fireworks. Or maybe they'll wander the city for a bit with their hands in their pockets, smiling as though nothing is wrong - until they reach that horned statue, that is, and freeze on the spot as the music box plays.

Chara had been hanging around that statue since it's arrival. For awhile they ignored it because the sound of its song twisted in their stomach the same way that photograph - both of them - did. Good memories, bad memories and memories of a possible future. Aahha, it's pretty depressing.

And then Chara sees almost themself in a mirror when they approach the statue again. The jacket brought to mind someone else but that couldn't be it. That couldn't be it because there was another Frisk here and it could be the same case.

They still have to try not to laugh though.]

[So, uh. This is different. Two events in a row? Since that's what this has gotta be, right? An event. No one gets to keep their memories after leaving Wonderland, but his memory is perfectly intact.]

[So, okay, fine. Two events in a row, and this time Wonderland saw fit to stick them all back underground. Real nice. It's a city, a weird one, in a big ol' cavern--big as the one holding New Home, probably--and there are lights everywhere and he can hear something that sounds like a party in the distance.]

[Yeah, nope. The last time there was a huge party of any sort wasn't exactly, uh, pleasant. So he's just going to avoid that for awhile. Instead, he meanders, as is his prerogative. He hangs out at street level, peering into store fronts, or standing at the base of one of the spires, staring up at it and wondering how the hell that was constructed.]

[Or he's on the roofs. They're out of the way, and people don't usually look up, and it's easier to see things from up here. It's a simple enough thing to just teleport from roof to roof, blipping his way through the city, trying to get a good sense of where he is. Might as well try and learn what the point of this event is, after all.]

[He's just starting to wonder why he barely recognizes anyone.]

[He finally drags himself to the party, partially because he wants answers and partially because he's a bit hungry. There's a lot of people here, and he has come to realize pretty recently that he really hates crowds. They make him uncomfortable. So many people wandering or stumbling along, not looking where they're going. Not enough space to dodge properly. Easy to get lost. Easy to lose track of where you are.]

[Also none of this food is magical, or if it is, it's still got too much physicality for him to eat it. So, yeah, that's a bust. Nice.]

[He opts to just linger on the far edges of the party, leaning against walls or fixtures and looking quite worn out.]

[So amidst many of the humans and human-shaped sorts that seem to be appearing all over the city, here's someone who is considerably...larger than most of them. And beefier. And more shaped like a goat. He can only described as a massive goat-man with red eyes and curved horns, clad in silver armor and a purple cloak, looking for all the world like some sort of satanic archetype.

But if he is truly some beast from the pits of hell, he's an exceptionally nice and well-articulated one. Just go and look at that cuddly face of his! No, you gotta look higher up...higher...higher...there you go! It's not easy being something like seven feet of fur and muscle, as Asgore Dreemurr can tell you too well. Being King of the Monsters, it seems, requires you to be physically imposing, even the man in question has something of a heart of gold. And there is a gentleness to how he moves, stepping delicately around the smaller humans, apologizing graciously should he bump into anyone, and all in all doing his very best not to let his considerable bulk get into anyone's way, with limited success.

He lingers in the party area for a little while, though after a time he finds he has difficulty looking at anything resembling pie, and takes his leave. So you may find him in the armory, near the guard house, or possibly in the library. Maybe you can see him in the bar, attempting to politely negotiate for a cup of tea in lieu of anything actually alcoholic. Or, as the week wears on, you may find him trying to reason with a Skulltula or some other beast, inquiring as to whether they might prefer to settle this over said cup of tea.

(Note: this cup of tea may be nonexistent, but there's no reason to be rude!)]

A literal child picking fights with all manner of things that scuttle and skitter in the dark, because this seems reasonable.

They cut a swathe through them with remarkable efficiency. Parry, cut, thrust, riposte - end scene. Next question?

When they entered this new world, they were LV 12 - not quite at the roof, but certainly with the intent of approaching it. They are intent on hoarding as much LOVE as possible, gathering it to their SOUL like bouquets of flowers to their chest.

[Dusty footprints follow the child through the caves, and if they notice the difference in their surroundings they make no sign of it. No, the only expression gracing their face is a blank, hard stare. Unfeeling, uncaring, distant. The kind of face that shouldn't be graced with a description.]

[Still, there is something strained about it. Tightness at the corners of their mouth, the firm grip upon the handle of a cooking pan as they swing and bash their way through the enemies in their way. They don't fall to dust, but the feeling of LOVE wrapping around their mind is familiar enough that they pay the detail little mind. The child has a goal, and they are determined to see it through.]

[And yet upon rounding a blind corner in the caverns to see * Someone Else making short work of a Skulltulla, they pause. Ever since arriving here, the child had noticed a lack. An absence, where before there had been a quiet voice. A pressure, an awareness and drive that tangled up upon their own in the most confusing ways. In another lifetime (hah), perhaps it would have come as a greater shock, been much more worrisome. But the path was clear, and there are some things one does not need assistance to accomplish. But now, here...]

[Some Creepy Road]

It's- jarring, that's the best word for this, because just seconds ago Kate was standing on the side of a road just like this one, watching Seth dig into the bag she's still got clutched in her arms for a stack of money and then striking off down the road, leaving her alone but with the lion's share of the take from that stupid job, leaving her with the car. She still feels numb from it, but this road and that road, she's almost positive they aren't the same.

She can't be in Mexico anymore, can she?

But the location of the road is the only thing that's changed. She's still splattered in blood, still feels just as lost, and so she does what she'd have done in Mexico if she was still there, just without the car this time. She picks a direction and she starts to walk, follows the oddly lit up road and hopes that somewhere at the end of this road there's something that might make more sense.

By the time she's made it to the party she's found somewhere to clean most of the blood off her face, her clothes and her hair are dark enough that the red doesn't show, but she's still holding a ratty looking woven bag in one hand as she looks over the refreshments.

It was a long walk, it was a long day, but there's a human centipede baby decoration and it's kind of making her not trust whoever set out this food. When she sees other people eating and not immediately choking it makes her feel a little more secure, but-

"Excuse me," she says to whoever is nearest, putting on a smile that's at least sincere, if a little nervous. "Who is it that's holding this party?"

At least that will give her a little more to go on before she digs in.

[Frisk isn't exactly pleased to find themself underground again. Not Underground, thankfully, or they might be having quite the mental breakdown, but it's still similar enough to set old instincts running again. With a knife strapped to one bony hip and a stained blue hoodie pulled close around their shoulders, you might be forgiven for not recognizing them right off the bat. At the age of sixteen they've gotten a little more height on them now, and a thin, wiry frame that remains as androgynous as it ever has been. The hairstyle is a change, too, shorter in the back with the front grown out long enough to brush their shoulders, as if meant to mimic the appearance of something very specific. While they seem friendly, they're also focused; they've taken to exploring the city with an...almost obsessive attention for detail.]

[Seriously, they can be found just about anywhere. Examining the shops, perusing the library, lingering around the temples with an expression that those familiar with a much younger version of themself would likely find very familiar. From time to time they stop and stare into space with a furrowed brow, looking for...something? Or maybe n̗ͬ᷾o̵ͣ́t̟ͭ̌h̟̋᷄ǐ̜̀n͇̪̄g̞̭͂. But whatever it is, they seem content with what they find.]

[But one place they return to often is that odd, musical statue. Here they actually sit down with legs crossed, smiling and closing their eyes to listen to the sweet, plinking notes.]

[They're rather partial to their statue, actually.

Or- it's not really their statue. At all. But it came here because of them, they're mostly certain, and as no one else has seen fit to lay claim to it, a quiet corner of Frisk's mind stakes it out as theirs. A communal theirs that means they still have to share it, but one theirs in a world full of things that don't belong to them at all is rather nice, all the same.

It's not exactly encouraging to have so many strangers coming to look at it. This one doesn't seem to be attempting anything; they're just listening, but the anxiety remains. Maybe they might try to break it. Maybe they might take it back with them, and the small noise of protest at imagined happenings escapes their throat without their consent.]

[Hey, would ya look at that. Someone who actually does go here. You know that whole "nobody's judging" clause? Yeah, this guy totally is. But don't take it personally. It's kinda his job, and he's the only guy who can do it.

He's, uh...well, "hopeful" is the wrong word for it. He ain't really a hopeful guy. Optimism got all squeezed outta his ribcage a long damn time ago. But he's got half a mind that someone he might know or recognize could show up with this influx of newbies, and that might be a real good sign. Or a real bad sign but, y'know. He likes to take things as they come.

He lingers around the party for a spell, and he may or may not be drizzling hot sauce on some of the elaborate platters, just to watch the sparks fly. He also retreats to Delight's bar when the partyin' gets to be too much, settlin' down with a bottle of plum sauce and a weary grin.

Oh yeah, and he's totally gonna stick around in dark alleyways and corners of the city, lurkin' with a couple party poppers just to spook the everlovin' crap outta whoever might happen by.
