Event Log: Fourth Wall, Part One

Who: Everyone in the city + Fourth Wall visitors!
What: Part one of the fourth wall event, hosted by Fear, Confusion, and Delight!
Where: All around the city
When: October 24th-November 1st
Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!

If you're not from around here, you may be wondering what's going on. You've woken up out of the blue in the colosseum, or near a temple, or in one of the numerous other locations in the city. You're somewhere underground and it's dark, cold, and maybe a little unnerving.

Luckily, shortly after your arrival, the road below your feet begins to light up in a gentle, warm glow. The light points you in a set direction and, if you choose to travel that way, will lead you toward the center of the city, where there is a large gathering of others who are lost here like you, people who might know their way around a bit more, and even some of the gods who rule this place.

There are lights strung up on poles throughout the large clearing, casting a comforting glow onto the tables beneath them. The tables are abundant with lots of food that looks simply delicious- though, none of it tastes quite like it should. The tarts taste like green beans, the mashed potatoes like cheesecake, and the chocolate seems oddly reminiscent of steak. In addition, there are decorations artfully placed around the meeting point. If you see them moving, don't worry- that's probably just your imagination.

Also distributed along the tables are shot glasses, filled with a sludgy, yellow substance. If you're brave enough to consume them, they taste strongly of mint and will give you a much needed energy boost, circumventing the need to eat or sleep for a full 24 hours! After that, however, everything hits you all at once, so use them wisely. Some of you may remember these shots from our How Delightful event earlier this year!

In addition to all of the above, there are also party poppers strewn around the area. Each popper can jet out some strange objects- glitter bombs, seashells, plastic dinosaurs, maybe a live lizard or two- so be careful! Feel free to use your discretion on these, but remember to keep it small!

Of course, you can always not travel that way. The rest of the city has plenty of places to explore- maybe you'd like to stumble in our Silent Hill zone, have a quick look around the alien orchard, or check out any of the god temples that can inspire their chosen emotion. Be careful not to get lost in the tunnels leading away from the cave- none of them can actually move you above ground, but you may run into a few monsters on the way.

For those of you who have been with us awhile, please bear with the gods while they try to adjust around these new folks! Join in on the festivities if you like, or try to orient as many of the others as you can. Start a community outreach program, start a fight club, introduce your parents to your weird cave girlfriend- nobody's judging!

Enjoy the fourth wall event at Hadriel! Once you're settled in feel free to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.

Fourth wall characters do not enter with phones so they cannot reach the network- however, if you'd like to handwave that they somehow got ahold of Mello's Newcomer guide to avoid the 'where am I/what is this' sort of questions, then feel free!

What is it exactly?

[While he didn't recognize who she was, he certainly recognized what she was. The Togruta were fairly distinctive though he had never met one in person before. He wasn't impressed so far.

The look he gave her was not exactly friendly either, she was non-human so he wasn't inclined to simply trust her.]

I've never seen anything like it.

I don't know what it's called, but it reminds me of the melon tree fruit on Felucia, a planet from my home galaxy. It's just as tasty, with less tree-climbing required.

[ maketh has been the only person from her galaxy so far, so the casual explanation seems necessary. ]

Oh? Is that where you're from then?

[He knew little of Felucia aside from the fact that it was a key planet in one of the galactic trade routes.There had been battles there during the Clone Wars his father had told him about but during Palpatine's rule it had been firmly under the control of the Empire given its significance.

He peered at her carefully, apparently she didn't seem to recognize the symbol of the First Order but he would let her talk before answering any questions about himself.]

No. Just somewhere I've visited.

[ somewhere she's fought. so much of her galactic sightseeing revolved around battles of one sort or another. ahsoka doesn't stop keenly paying attention to this stranger in the force, but she does drop her gaze to the table, debating between a few pieces of fruit until she finally chooses one to pick up. ]

Interesting. I never thought Felucia was much of a tourist spot after the Clone Wars. Not somewhere people go to pick fruit for fun.

[He remarked as he watched which fruit she picked up and decided to take a bite of the fruit he held. He never stopped watching her though, wanting to see her reaction.]

I've never been there personally though.

[ ah. so his insignia isn't imperial, but he's given her a few details. he's from her home universe and at least from some time after the clone wars. she can work with that. ]

It wasn't much of a tourist spot during the Clone Wars, either, but the fruit still grew.

[He peered at her carefully as he wondered what her involvement in the Clone Wars was. She didn't have the bearing of a military officer at least and wore no indication of any Republic ranking.]

You served in the Clone Wars then? Hopefully you lived to see the end of it.

[Of course he was baiting her simply to see her reaction. If she wasn't a military officer and had served in the Clone Wars that left very few options.]

I did, actually. [ no thanks to mandalore, no thanks to the chips in the head of her men. ] But it's been a number of years since then.

[ and she's going to calmly eat her fruit now, as if this is the most boring conversation possible. ]

So many didn't survive, but I suppose it was all necessary, wasn't it? Even if it meant purging the Republic of traitors after the war. [So she knew of the Empire. He knew some Jedi had survived the Purge- at least for a little while.]

How long has it been since the war for you then?

[ so this is why everything about him in the force screamed that he wasn't to be trusted. it makes sense now, but she wants to keep an eye on this person the same way she does the resident imperial minister. maybe even more so. maketh's given ahsoka reason to trust her. ]

Sixteen years. And if that is your assessment of the Republic and it's so-called traitors, I'm afraid we might have to agree to disagree.

[ or she can fight him. like. that's always on the table. ]

So you are nothing more than Rebel scum. [He smirked, amused by her reaction.]

You are in for a pleasant surprise in three years then. [He wasn't sure how public the knowledge of the first Death Star was. No doubt she was familiar with Tarkin and his methods though.]

And you should know that I personally destroyed the last hope for a new republic. It was a spectacular sight to behold.

Rebel scum. Yeah, sounds like me.

[ usually she doesn't draw attention to the lightsaber hilts on her hips. they're there, but they're not the usual cylindrical shape and not everyone know what they might be. now, though, she finishes her fruit and adjusts her posture, one hand on her hip armour, fingertips resting against the hilt of her mainhand saber. ]

Thinking you destroyed the last hope of anything tells me you don't understand how the galaxy works, though. And certainly not how hope does.

Oh no, I'm pretty sure I broke your little rebellion and I enjoyed doing so.

[When her hand touched her saber he glanced down, raising his eyebrows. Perhaps he should be intimidated but he couldn't bring himself to be.]

What I can say though is that I'm sure you won't live long enough to see what Tarkin has planned for your friends. The Emperor was very thorough in making sure the Jedi were wiped from the galaxy.

[ tarkin. it's always tarkin. it's not the jedi way to wish death on anyone, but this isn't the first time ahsoka's wished they'd managed to lose him at the citadel, instead of master piell, instead of echo. she should have known he would only get worse from there.

she finds herself gritting her teeth, but doesn't stop herself. there's something satisfying in feeling a little growly here. ]

It's funny how the Emperor keeps thinking that, when he keeps turning out to be wrong. He's never understood the scope of his opposition, not since he showed his hand as a Sith.

He still was able to wipe every single Jedi from the galaxy.

[Alright, aside from one but useless old Jedi like Obi-Wan don't count. Neither do Jedi who run and hide like Luke Skywalker.]

But the Emperor and Tarkin aren't relevant anymore. I hold the power in the galaxy and I did what they couldn't finish.

Your rebellion, everything you fought for and sacrificed for, all those friends you lost, that was all in vain. I made sure of that.

[ she considers him a moment, eyes narrowed, but posture unchanging. ]

I don't believe you for a second. No fight for freedom is ever in vain.

The beauty of the matter is that you don't have to believe me. That won't change the reality of what happens- or what will happen.

Visit Alderaan while you can, though, you may not get the chance to in the future.

[Of course she could go back and warn the Rebellion but no matter what, he believes that since history had played out already it didn't matter what he told her.]

[ her mainhand saber is in her hand and ignited before she even stops to think about it, bright white lighting up the space between them. she swings her arm out, stopping with her lightsaber under hux's chin, level with his neck. it's clear that that wasn't a threat to her - as far as she can tell, he has no idea who she is and she's fine with that - but to alderaan. and there are people she cares very dearly about on that planet. ]

What does that mean? About Alderaan?

I thought you said you didn't believe me.

[His smirk only grew as she pulled the lightsaber out. He didn't flinch, at least this lightsaber didn't look as if it was going to explode in his face.]

If you don't believe me, why are you threatening me?

I don't believe that you would know if the rebellion was for nothing. You have no idea how deeply the roots for that run. [ she feels like she doesn't even know some days, and she's in the thick of it. and this man? well, he doesn't seem like the sort of person who knows much. ]

But I might believe that you know an event.

Well, if your rebellion fights hard enough perhaps you'll be able to save Alderaan then.

I doubt it but I'm sure Tarkin enjoyed your valiant efforts nonetheless. [He's starting to get a better understanding of just why Tarkin had chosen Alderaan of all the planets to target. It wasn't just Leia Organa's home but this Jedi had reacted strongly to the mere mention of the planet being in danger.]

[ but that doesn't tell her anything, only pokes at her anger. she tries not to be consumed by it, but even then, she can't help but lean closer to him, her blade dangerously close to his neck. ]

That didn't answer my question. What happens to Alderaan?

[It took all his willpower not to step back but he doubted she would actually kill him. The Rebels liked to flaunt their noble ideals and pretend they were better than than the Empire. Before the Death Star's destruction, their serious war crimes had always been on a smaller scale, out of sight of the wider galactic population.

If she was going to kill him, he was confident it wouldn't be here out in the open.]

Did you have friends on Alderaan then? Such a pity, hopefully you'll have a chance to say good bye to them if we are able to return to our galaxy.

Or perhaps by the time you return it will be too late to save Alderaan.

Alderaan is a peaceful planet, full of good people. And they cooperate with the Empire! [ on the surface, at least. she works too closely with bail and his fleet to ever be in denial about their true affiliation. ]

What happens to Alderaan?

Oh, I agree Alderaan was peaceful and hardly a military threat. But you and I both know that the Empire has never had their full cooperation and support.

[He looked at her for a moment, looking rather pleased with himself.]

Alright- perhaps I should show you though you'll have to use your imagination.

[He moved away to grab a green piece of fruit from a nearby table and held it up for her to see.] So lets say this is Alderaan for the purposes of this demonstration. I heard it was beautiful there, the soul of the galaxy and all that. Have you ever been there?
