Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!
What: Part one of the fourth wall event, hosted by Fear, Confusion, and Delight!
Where: All around the city
When: October 24th-November 1st
Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!
If you're not from around here, you may be wondering what's going on. You've woken up out of the blue in the colosseum, or near a temple, or in one of the numerous other locations in the city. You're somewhere underground and it's dark, cold, and maybe a little unnerving.
Luckily, shortly after your arrival, the road below your feet begins to light up in a gentle, warm glow. The light points you in a set direction and, if you choose to travel that way, will lead you toward the center of the city, where there is a large gathering of others who are lost here like you, people who might know their way around a bit more, and even some of the gods who rule this place.
There are lights strung up on poles throughout the large clearing, casting a comforting glow onto the tables beneath them. The tables are abundant with lots of food that looks simply delicious- though, none of it tastes quite like it should. The tarts taste like green beans, the mashed potatoes like cheesecake, and the chocolate seems oddly reminiscent of steak. In addition, there are decorations artfully placed around the meeting point. If you see them moving, don't worry- that's probably just your imagination.
Also distributed along the tables are shot glasses, filled with a sludgy, yellow substance. If you're brave enough to consume them, they taste strongly of mint and will give you a much needed energy boost, circumventing the need to eat or sleep for a full 24 hours! After that, however, everything hits you all at once, so use them wisely. Some of you may remember these shots from our How Delightful event earlier this year!
In addition to all of the above, there are also party poppers strewn around the area. Each popper can jet out some strange objects- glitter bombs, seashells, plastic dinosaurs, maybe a live lizard or two- so be careful! Feel free to use your discretion on these, but remember to keep it small!
_
Of course, you can always not travel that way. The rest of the city has plenty of places to explore- maybe you'd like to stumble in our Silent Hill zone, have a quick look around the alien orchard, or check out any of the god temples that can inspire their chosen emotion. Be careful not to get lost in the tunnels leading away from the cave- none of them can actually move you above ground, but you may run into a few monsters on the way.
For those of you who have been with us awhile, please bear with the gods while they try to adjust around these new folks! Join in on the festivities if you like, or try to orient as many of the others as you can. Start a community outreach program, start a fight club, introduce your parents to your weird cave girlfriend- nobody's judging!
Well. Some of us might be.
_
Enjoy the fourth wall event at Hadriel! Once you're settled in feel free to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.
Fourth wall characters do not enter with phones so they cannot reach the network- however, if you'd like to handwave that they somehow got ahold of Mello's Newcomer guide to avoid the 'where am I/what is this' sort of questions, then feel free!
Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 24th-November 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well! Fourth wall characters will not have posting access, so grab an in-game friend if you wanted to do anything separate from the main log.
► Fourth wall characters will be in the city for at least one week, though they can stay for longer. The party will go on throughout the entire week, thanks to Delight's boundless energy!
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[It appeared the kitchen had all the necessary appliances to make a meal with. Now all the they needed was the food. He checked some of the supplies they had brought in with them. Fresh food seemed like it might have been out of reach, but there had to at least have been some canned, non-perishable goods lying around in some of the stores. Well, he supposed he could make a cursory meal, but they'd need more if they were going to be staying here for an extended period of time.]
This will do. For now. But we'll need more.
[He picked up a few cans and headed back into the kitchen.]
no subject
We'll go out and look later when we explore more. [he said over his shoulder as he examined what he had found.]
So what are you making for dinner then? [He asked over his shoulder with amusement as he started to fold his clothes. Kylo could deal with his own stuff.]
no subject
Soup, bread, and butter.
[Hux could criticize the choice of meal at his own peril. Kylo could get awful touchy when someone said anything he regarded as an attack on his own self-importance. Setting a pot down, he tried to turn the stove on. One click, nothing. Two clicks, nothing. On the third click, a flame so large it threatened to set his hair on fire had he been much closer erupted. He let out a yell of surprise and turned the burner off using his powers. Making a meal was going to prove to be a perilous undertaking.]
no subject
I have no medical training so if you light yourself on fire you're on your own.
no subject
[It was Hux's laugh that made him see red. Kylo was never one for looking foolish in the face of others. Whirling around, he pulled out his lightsaber and switched it on. The unstable red blade crackled and had arcs of the red light flicker out of the blade before they'd rejoin the main section. He pointed it at Hux, the dangerous hum an counterpoint to his murderous tone.]
Say one more word and see what happens.
no subject
Besides, we have more important things to discuss other than your wounded pride.
no subject
[He desperately wanted to slash something. Since Hux and his insufferable grin was off-limits, he turned to the nearest wall and stabbed a hole right through it. His temper soothed, he went back to the process of making dinner like nothing had happened. He didn't say anything else as he heated the food up and no other complications arose trying to use the stovetop. He didn't want to consider what might happen if he tried to use the microwave.]
What things?
no subject
[He hoped Ren would at least think about that before destroying their apartment.]
As you observed, we're not the only two from our galaxy here. I've met two of them and they seem to be around a time just a few years before Alderaan was destroyed.
no subject
[He had to bite back a sarcastic remark. Of course he knew he'd fix the damage he'd caused. He did wish for the endless rooms of the Finalizer. It wasn't nearly as satisfying to carve up his own living space.]
I know. Maketh Tua and the Togruta.
[Frankly, he and Maketh shared many of the same sentiments about Hux, none of them flattering.]
no subject
[Of course he knew the answers to both questions so he was surprised to hear Ren speak of them in such a neutral tone. Then again, he doubted Ren was used to having to use the same tactics as Hux did every day to avoid more subtle enemies.]
I'm surprised you're still calm about the situation.
no subject
Why shouldn't I be? Killing either one of them could have consequences for the entire galaxy. Either of us could not be born if too much damage is done.
[He pulls some bowls and spoons after rummaging through the drawers and cabinets. His next words are tinged with a note of confusion.]
And the Force user....I don't know about her.
no subject
[Her reactions had been very telling when he had prodded her about Order 66 and the Empire.]
Tua is also a member of the rebellion. She once served the Empire, failed in her duties, and was dealt with. [He assumed that he didn't need to translate that.]
She apparently also knew Brendol Hux. [Hux rarely mentioned his father but he had found it rather interesting.]
no subject
[Kylo couldn't say why he felt the need to defend Ahsoka. But she was a fellow Force user, steeped in the Light, but not following the antiquated code of the Jedi. There was a connection there, one that someone who wasn't Force-sensitive wouldn't understand.]
The Rebellion means little in this place. [Of course, by that token, so did the First Order. The mention of Hux's father was a little surprising. Hux had mentioned him all of three or four times before this.]
Really? Did she find him as insufferable as I find you?
no subject
[Hux honestly couldn't care about the different terms. As far as he was concerned there was the Light who were the Jedi and the Dark who were the Sith. Everything else seemed to be pointless terms and names.
His expression hardened at Ren's words, his expression going cold. He may have been young at the time of the Empire's surrender but he remembered all too clearly the last chaotic days, being driven out and having to cling to tradition and ideals in the cold void of the Unknown Regions. There he had seen a lot of former Imperial officers lose their loyalty and lose sight of what was truly important.
He wouldn't ever let himself lose his duty and commitment to the First Order even in a place like this. If anything, his resolve was stronger.] Where we are doesn't matter. The First Order is still here as long we continue to dedicate ourselves what we have always done.
[With that said he sat back, taking a deep breath.]
Apparently so, I must have learned to be insufferable from him. [He's not even surprised, smirking.] She insulted his hair though honestly there are so many better things to insult him over.
no subject
The one thing that Hux and Kylo had in common was their blind loyalty to their causes. Kylo was dedicated to Snoke, the Dark Side, and the First Order, in that exact order. Since the first was not here, he was clinging to the Force, seeking to purge himself of the Light. The mention of Brendol Hux made his lips twitch, threatening to form into a full-blown smile.]
Of that, I have no doubt. [Kylo had several traits from his own father, loathe as he was to admit it. Mainly it came out in the sarcastic wit that tended to crop up from time to time. Kylo scooped out two portions of soup.]
Eat. You can't plot to overthrow false gods and take over this planet on an empty stomach.
no subject
He gave a nod as he picked up a spoon, tentatively tasting the soup.]
Well, it's editable. [Which, from him, is high praise. Especially since he continued to eat it.]
no subject
How generous of you to notice. [Considering he's never had Hux show approval for anything he's done before, it's quite a surprise. The man looks like he hardly eats as it is. Kylo doesn't have the luxury of being able to skip meals. Energy for using the Force and swinging around a lightsaber has to come from somewhere after all.
Kylo eats in silence. It's been a long time since he ate a meal with anyone. Someone of his position wasn't going to fraternize with the stormtroopers and lower-ranking officers on the Finalizer. It's awkward. Kylo' social skills are so atrophied as to be non-existent.]
no subject
It's certainly awkward but Hux decided to ignore it the best he could as he finished off the soup and helped himself to more. If he was getting the chance to actually sit down and eat, he was going to take advantage of it.]
Alright, what do we need to do next? [He said once he finished eating, sitting back in the chair.]
no subject
[Kylo got up when the meal was finished. There was a little bit of soup left, so he put it into a container, cautiously opening up the refrigerator in case it decided to misbehave like the stove had.]
You're the one with skills of negotiation. [Kylo was the brawn of this operation. Hux would have to be the brains. He could only hope the general had better people skills than his own, though he somewhat doubted that. Hux tended to look at most everyone like they were something he'd scraped off the bottom of his shoe. Kylo, for his part, tended to be far more at ease threatening or murdering than trying to get along with people that he despised.]
We need allies. [This city was full of people. Surely some of them would be willing to an mutually beneficial alliance.]
no subject
[Hux went to look out the window before a moment before turning to look at Ren.]
A pity the woman from the Empire is a traitor who was most likely disposed of by Grand Moff Tarkin.
[He wasn't going to trust someone just because they were Imperial at one time, especially if they had failed their duties. He frowned thoughtfully as he started to pace the living room. On Finalizer he could pace the bridge but this was far more cramped which annoyed him.
He came to a stop again to look at Ren once more.]
She mentioned I had been here before but I have no memory of it. She seems to know the Empire as we knew it under Palpatine had ended but I'm certain she doesn't know about the final end of the Republic.
no subject
She failed to mention any of that when I spoke to her.
[Likely because she knew how Kylo would see a traitor of the Empire. He felt furious at feeling that she played him for a fool. He had been blinded to her manipulations. Well, the next time they met, he'd see how well Maketh liked the sight of a lightsaber coming her way. He'd show her that he was no youngling to be led about by the nose.
The idea of Hux being here before made him give pause. So these false gods did have the power to send people back and manipulate their memories as well. They were powerful foes.]
Perhaps we should seek to overthrow these so-called gods that are running things.
no subject
But I will teach you what I learned from an early age- just because someone wears the same insignia doesn't mean you can trust them or assume they'll be an ally.
[He learned that the hard way even before he finished training as an officer. It was just how things were and he learned to play that game very well. There was a reason people around Hux tended to have a higher than normal morality rate.]
That's what I was thinking. To do that we'll need information and useful allies who aren't too ambitious as to get ideas of their own.
no subject
[Kylo scowled at the implication that he was basically a child playing dress-up.] Interesting words coming from someone who's a poor man's Grand Moff Tarkin. [One of these days he'd learn to be the bigger person and not snipe at Hux every time they were around one another. Yep. Any day now. But that wasn't going to be today. Inwardly, he was still fuming at how easily Maketh Tua had manipulated him. It served him right. He could trust no one here.]
I received some information on them, though how accurate it might be is in question. [Several people had told him about how the gods here operated. Maketh, again, had supplied the most information, but now he questioned how much faith he could put into her words. Maybe she wanted to see him go up against one of them and be destroyed. It was just what a traitorous wretch would do.]
no subject
[Hux couldn't stop the twitch of his lips though, the topic had always been a sensitive one for him. All his life he had been expected to not only live up to Tarkin's legacy but to surpass it by doing what he hadn't- take out the Rebellion and their leaders once and for all.
In some ways, he knew he had held greater power than Tarkin and accomplished more. In other ways, he still felt as he was trying to catch up to Tarkin's lifetime of experience as a soldier and statesman.
He wasn't going to give Ren the satisfaction of knowing how much that got under his skin though and he forced himself to smirk before leaning in.]
We'll start with what you found out. As we gather more information we can cross-reference it and do our own investigations.

['You're afraid that you will never be as strong as Darth Vader.' The scavenger's words echoed in his mind. Rey certainly had hit him where it hurt. He glared at Hux. Did nothing ever get beneath that cool exterior to whatever passed for emotions on the inside? Sometimes, he thought that Academy, or wherever it was that Hux had grown up, had frozen all the emotions out of their cadets.
No matter. They had better things to discuss than the shortcomings they had in comparison to their forefathers. Kylo recalled all the information he had heard.]
I was told that there were six gods currently here, all named after various emotions like Sorrow and Rage. The most powerful is Hope. They feed off the population's emotions, which is why we were brought here, to act as a power source. They supposedly have yet to be seen in person.
