What: The event log for the Fadeout event!

When: November 15th-November 25th
Warnings: None!

The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.

By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.

Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.

Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.

So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.

Whoa, little dude looks like a deranged rabbit.

[ And here Johnny Storm is, ready to help! He doesn't cotton on to the blindness for the moment, bending down to rescue the much-maligned pant leg from the nug's vigorous attentions. Johnny has a very distinct scent of ash -- it comes with the genetic mutation, sorry, buddy; and he's cuddling the fellow before he finally looks up.

Huh, sunglasses in the murder cave? Far be it for him to question fashion choices, even if they do look pretty cool. ]

You okay?

[ I mean, maybe Johnny was just recently in a fire, that's what Matt would (correctly?) assume. He probably even runs a little hotter than most people, but Matt's not about to tell him that he can tell his body temperature just from standing in the same area as him. ]

Thanks. It sounded kind of... rat-like, to be honest. [ Obviously nugs are nicer than rats, especially the ones in New York, but still. He's cool with the not noticing, in fact he holds out his hand to shake. Pay no mind to the fact that he's probably isn't looking quite at Johnny's face. ]

I've been better. But then I've never been stuck in a cave with demons before, so that's not saying much.

[ Joking..... helps. It helps, okay. ]

[ joking totally helps, bro. Johnny smiles at that because the guy's got quite the wit -- but that's not the only thing he's noticed. There's also the fact that the dude's not quite looking at him (is there something over his shoulder, or?) and it takes him a few moments for it to click in his brain. Sunglasses at night, help getting a cute little thing off and going off sounds to determine just what it is, and the not quite aligned with the whole introduction thing.

Aw, man.

He takes his hand and shakes. ]

Anytime, man. I'm Johnny Storm. Were you here when everything got freaky and there were hot undead nurses trying to kill you?

[ Thatta boy, Johnny. Matt can practially hear when Johnny notices. People do that all the time, he's used to it. ]

Matt Murdock. [ Matt shakes his hand. Is he warmer than usual? Probably, I mean Matt can read temperature in the air, the superpowers are very real. He laughs, even if the mental image of that is... horrifying, quite frankly. ] I must've missed that. Lucky me, I only have the demons to worry about.

Pure nightmare fuel!

[ Oh, definitely warmer than usual! Someone with a high fever, but all vital signs reveal someone who's genuinely at ease. He pauses a moment, trying to figure out the polite way to navigate this until he decides that his rarely-utilised filter should probably stay that way: rarely used.

Thankfully for Johnny, this particular decision is tampered by the genuine instinct to look out for him (because look, he's a blind guy in a city crawling with demons, he can't leave him alone). ]

Hey, wanna come along with me, Matt? Don't want you accidentally bumping into one of those things.

[ Matt laughs. Some feverish guy walks up to you in a cave and offers to help? That's funny. But then Matt is of course a Normal Blind Man, so even if the implication is edging on rude af he'd be a fool to turn the help down. ]

I usually don't have too much trouble with that. [ He goes ahead and "accidentally" whaps Johnny in the leg with his white cane. Oops. What an accidental accident! ] But traveling in pairs seems like a good idea. I was just on my way home, anyway.

[ Aw, man! Hey, that smarts! Johnny winces but gracefully doesn't comment because he isn't that big of a jerk. Besides, what the dude says next distracts him from it as he pauses, then holds out his arm to him because that's what you do, right? Johnny's skin is warm, all physiological happenings under the skin pointing to a more rapid sort of metabolism. He's at ease, but eager -- like a puppy curious about his new friend.

(Johnny likes people, you see. He also especially likes people who aren't trying to kill him.) ] Where's home, by the way? Hellcave and pre-Hellcave? [ And because he's picked up on the accent: ] I'm up in Manhattan.

[ Aw, Johnny, you're adorable. Matt reaches out and takes him by the elbow after some minor fumbling. Matt might not be nearly the people person he is, but he's gonna have to get to know at least the lay of the land while he's here. Making friends usually helps.

And a fellow New Yorker to boot? That's always fun. Matt chuckles. ]

[ New York is always fun! It's the funnest place in the world, after Disneyland. He feels Matt take his arm -- and while he doesn't have the most remote idea how to guide a blind dude around, he has an inkling that it probably mainly involves not letting him trip over things and such and he can do this. ]
