What: The event log for the Fadeout event!
Where: All around the city
When: November 15th-November 25th
Warnings: None!

The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.

By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.

Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.

Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.

So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.

Superhuman. [ welp ] ... All right, that would be - Yes, if you don't mind.

[ Hell, she can use all the help she can get. ]

Thank you. [ She replies with a sideways grin. ]

Don't mind at all! Got to do what I can to help.

[And it's nice to be the support for once, rather than the powerhouse leading the charge.]

Lead the way!

[ There's a nod before she turns her attentions back toward the rift, the green, spiked mass hanging in the air. ]

I can close it, but I can't fight while I'm doing that. [ Cecily explains, tongue brushing across her lips as she eyes the demons. ] Can you manage against them while I do that? It shouldn't take more than a moment, if I can go uninterrupted.

Course I can! [And almost as if on cue, she sees a demon approaching from down the street.] Don't you worry at all, yeh? I've got this.

[Faith makes good on her word. The fight doesn't take very long, but when she's done, the demon is dead, a charred, smoking heap of a body that she kicks out of the way so no one will trip on it if they come running by.

That done, she heads back over to Cecily, keeping guard, ready to leap into action at a moment's notice.]

[ Well, that's helpful. The Inquisitor looks dully impressed as Faith works and then returns, eyebrows raised. ]

Never fought before, have you? [ She jokes lightly. The anchor continues to crackle incessantly on her palm, drawn to the next rift. ] That was... something else.

[Faith laughs, until she finally gets a good look at the glowing anchor on Cecily's hand.]

That's somethin' else. Good job you've got it to seal all these tears!

Yes, well, that's all it's good for. [ It hurts like a mother and is annoying when it doesn't hurt. ] I'd happily see it gone, honestly, if not for times like this.

[ Alas, this is the fate she'd been handed on the day of the Conclave. C'est la vie. ]

[Guess who's no stranger to bearing burdens for the greater good? This girl.]

Think a healer could take the pain away? I can try, if you like.

Someone could. [ Someone did, once. ] He isn't here anymore.

[ No time to dwell on that, though - ]

Someone with magical abilities may be able to, but this isn't... normal, for my world. It's ancient and elven and stuck in my palm until it kills me, I think.

[ tl;dr FUCK the anchor ]

Oh, I'm sorry.

[But Faith can and does take that cue.]

Well, when we're done here, come find me and I'll have a go, yeh?

That'd be - Absolutely, thank you. [ And thank the Maker, really, that somebody here is offering, and potentially able, to help with this particular problem. ] It's not something I'm well-equipped to deal with long-term, I think.

[Faith salutes -- unnecessary, she knows -- and gives a firm nod.]

Right. Find me when this mess is cleaned up! Til then!

[She gives a little wave and heads off to see who else might need her help.]
