What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-16th
Warnings: Luscious greenery and confused newbies
As has become tradition within the good (well, okay) city of Hadriel, new arrivals will awake on the floor of the half-destroyed colosseum. Confused and disoriented, you may be wondering where you are and what you're doing there. Don't worry! Someone will probably tell you sooner or later, as long as you get out of the colosseum alive.
Oh, right. About that. Along with the poor, innocent, vulnerable new arrivals are a number of other new friends! Well, maybe less 'friends' than 'horrifying monsters', but are you really going to be picky? Wandering the arena are Shambling Mounds. These creatures are large, unattractive piles of vaguely humanoid-shaped vegetation. They hit hard, they can take a lot of damage, and if you're really unlucky they might manage to engulf you with their weird plant bodies. If that happens, you'd better try to get free fast - otherwise they'll just walk off with you stuck inside and kill you later at their leisure.
The Door appears to have cast a wide net for 'plant monsters', and while Shambling Mounds are the only ones that can actually hurt you, it's managed to pull in a number of smaller, less dangerous carnivorous plants. Some of them are even kind of cute! So if you were looking for a pet venus flytrap or a new pitcher plant, you're in luck. Scattered around the colosseum are carnivorous potted plants, just waiting to find a new home.
Make a new plant friend, or get eaten by one, or run screaming! Whatever you choose to do, once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Sort of. The bleeding's... Slowed down, but
[ Noctis looks along the hardwood floor, seeing the trail left behind as he carried her. ]
There was a lot of it. I cleaned her up as best as I could, but this wasn't the gash on your knee.
She was stabbed.
no subject
[The answer almost knocks the air out of him.
Just who would be brazen enough to stab the Oracle? Who?! Regis was about to ask but he thought against it. Right now he needs to focus on keeping her alive and well.]
We neeed fresh water to keep the wound clean and perhaps a warm blanket to keep her from feeling the chill of death.
[Regis is worried that Lunafreya might go into shock over blood loss. He'll check her pulse once he arrives and if she seems bad off; Regis will suggest to haul her to the clinic with haste.]
I'll be there shortly with extra supplies, Noct. Just keep a watchful eye on her and contact me quickly if her condition gets worsens.
no subject
[ He listens to his father, and eventually sits himself in front of the couch again. His free hand takes one of Luna's own, and he swallows thickly before responding. ]
I'm not going anywhere.
[ Noctis sighs, resting his head beside her. ]
Just... Get here as soon as you can. Please.

[He says earnestly before hanging up. Now tasked with a new charge, Regis quickly gathers all the supplies he needs to care for the wounded Oracle. He made certain to grab a few bottles of aspirin and fresh bottled water before he left the clinic. While he's no chirurgeon, Regis knows a few things about basic first aid. However, he doubts his knowledge will be enough to tackle this crisis. A stab wound? His old friend Weskham was better suited for such things.
Unfortunately, Regis doesn't have the luxury of relying on anyone else to assist him.
During his way back to the apartment, Regis did manage to pick up some clothes for the three of them. Nothing in the means of fancy but the basic needs plus two or three outfits they could wear. Of course, none of the garbs were high end or designer like the rich labels they're accustom with but they'll do. Regis has an eye of fashion, sort of. His idea of fashion is dark colors and expensive suits but still, it works.
For Lunafreya, he grabbed as many dresses and such he could possibly find. The poor dear won't be uncomfortable, he swears it. ]
Noctis!
[He calls for the youth from downstairs so he could help him haul these bags inside. Then they must tend to Lunafreya quickly.]

[ Lost. ]
[ He hears Lunafreya's breathing, hangs on to every single exhale and inhale. Labored but there. Her pulse is delicate, and he feels it when he grips her hand gently. It should ground him, remind him that she's here, but he can't be sure. His mind feels so empty but filled with a fog. Noctis feels as though he's waiting forever for this to change. For everything to just stop. In silence, he holds onto Luna, face pressed downward into the cushion of the couch. He's at least stopped crying, but it's like he's fresh out of tears. ]
[ Noctis jolts when he hears his name being called. The echo of his father's voice coming from down the stairs. With a sharp inhale, he comes to. He sits up, immediately meeting his gaze with Lunafreya. It's hard to look at her... But he manages. ]
I'll be back quick. Promise.
[ Quickly, he gets up. He's dizzy, foggy, and his legs feel stiff when he stands. But he makes it to the door, turning a corner before making his way down the stairs. ]
[ When he sees his father, when he's close enough, he stops. Regis will find his son covered in blood; some his own, most of it belonging to the Oracle. It paints his forehead, arms, and neck. And his clothes are absolutely torn to shreds. The color in his face is gone, expressionless and almost empty with the qualities of trauma, shock, and a lost state of mind. ]
no subject
This isn't his son's blood. It can't possibly be! That means Lunafreya is in worse shape than he imagined.]
Noct?
[He says the prince's name with as much fatherly affection as possible in hopes of snapping him out of his dazed state. Once he finishes wiping off the blood from his child's face and neck, Regis leans forward and gently cups Noct's face between his hands.]
Tell me what happened, son. Is Lunafreya alive yet still?
[Please don't tell him she's gone---]
no subject
[ But he's there. Somewhere. Noctis blinks, exhaling heavily when Regis finishes cleaning up him, when he holds his face. It takes him a moment to speak, mouth partially agape. ]
Yeah...
[ Noctis nods finally. ]
Yeah, she's alive. Breathing. But unconscious. The bleeding's stopped but she's... She's in and out.
no subject
He must brave it for their sakes.]
You've done well, Noct. [He leans up a little and kisses that nest of black wild hair.] You've done very well.
Now let us tend to Lunafreya together. She's going to need you by her side.
[He let's go of Noctis and returns to the entrance where he left the bags of medical supplies, bottled water and clothing. There's five moderately heavy white bags in total. Regis picks up two and gestures for Noct to grab the remaining three. The prince shouldn't worry about their weight much. Regis opted to carry the two heaviest ones in the pile.]
Come. Help me lug this upstairs.
[He wastes no time marching up the stairs, bad knee and all.]
no subject
Right.
[ It's hard to say much, but he tries. Before Noctis can even argue about the weight of what his father carries, Regis is halfway up the stairs. Still shaken, he grasps the remaining bags and follows closely behind. ]
no subject
He settles the bags down upon the side of the couch before continuing where Noctis left off. The king kneels before Lunafreya as reaches out to caress her cheek with gentle hands, the hands of a father.]
Lunafreya? [He calls her name quietly with great care as he checks her pulse. She's weak, very weak but still there. Regis can't really tell if she's with fever or not but so far she seems well.]
Do not be alarmed, dear child. You're in good hands.
[The king soothingly brushes her long golden bangs aside briefly before turning towards the medical supplies he all but stolen. First thing's first, he needs to clean off her blood. That's why he pries out the filtered water and a clean white cloth. He dabs the washcloth with some of the lukewarm water before telling Noct to fetch a few towels from the other bag.]
We're going to need to keep her warm. The lack of blood might make her go into shock.

It cannot be so; she had been there during his final moments in the Citadel. She had seen his regal, handsome face, blurred behind the barrier he had erected to protect her and Nyx from their pursuer. She had seen Glauca's approach even as he bid her to spirit the Ring of the Lucii to Noctis. She had seen the fight he put up against the monstrous general, and she had seen him fall.
She still saw him sometimes, in her dreams, the memory of him torturing her and causing her to awaken with tears in her eyes. Luna knows that the pain she feels is likely nothing in the face of Noctis', but that doesn't change the way her heart practically aches at the mere mention of the late King of Lucis. It's because of this that Lunafreya's throat constricts when his voice reaches her ears, gentle as it says her name. Her dreams of him had simply been infinite playbacks of that terrible night in the Citadel; there had been no spiritual visitations of any sort as she slept. Never once has he addressed her directly when she had seen him in dreams, and the fact that he is doing so now makes her wonder if she has finally, finally made it to the Beyond after all.
No. No, that is unacceptable. Lunafreya had vowed to return Noctis to Eos from this strange world, and the thought of leaving him alone with no one to support him causes her to blearily claw through the darkness of her unconsciousness. Her eyes snap open as she takes a sharp, wheezing breath, the air catching in her dry throat and causing her to choke. The pain she feels is immediate and devastating, her lips parting in a silent groan as the wound at her side serves as testament to the fact that she's still alive.
She's almost grateful for the pain in this sense, but the look of wonder and confusion that splits her features at the sight of Regis demonstrates that she's found something else to be thankful for. ]
Your... Your Majesty, [ She breathes, and heat stings her eyes as she struggles to sit upright. Luna regrets the decision immediately, wincing. Seeing Noctis again had been bittersweet and wondrous, but seeing Regis is practically devastating. His assurances only serve to make her want to sob, but she sucks in a breath, holding her emotions as best she can. He's here, now, with her. With Noctis. ]
I... have fulfilled my duty, as you had bade, [ She begins, her voice quavering. That deep, delicious darkness that had held her in its grasp threatens her as she speaks, the thudding of her heart deafening in her ears as she struggles to focus on his face. ] I had hoped that you could rest easy... but... to see you again...
[ Tears begin to fall from the corners of her eyes even as they threaten to sink shut, her gaze moving from Regis to Noctis and back again. ] To see... the both of you... There is no greater happiness than this.
[ She manages a smile, her consciousness fading from the abrupt shock that Regis' presence had brought with it. The majority of her family is here now, and, selfishly, Lunafreya never wants to leave them again. Her breathing comes haltingly as she closes her eyes in spite of herself, the pain of her body overtaking her. ]
no subject
[ He sets the bags down nearby, quick to grab the towels and clean clothes he finds in there. A simple gown that he sees Regis has quickly picked out for her. A relief, considering that Noctis basically had to destroy the one she came in to stop the bleeding. ]
[ Noctis holds the items close, still as Regis addresses Lunafreya. He drops them when she seems to snap out of her unconsciousness in such a violent manner. ]
Luna--
[ She attempts to sit up, at which he promptly places his hands at her shoulders. ]
Don't move. You're not even stitched up yet.
[ There's pain in his voice, worry-ridden and struck with fear. They are not quite out of the woods yet, and it's extremely important that Luna remain still and relaxed. Her attention is upon the King, and he supposes this is... The best way he could have revealed to her that he's alive. Words don't cover it. ]
[ He swallows thickly, standing back to allow his father as much room as necessary. At the mention of her duty, he finds himself smiling. It's pained, bittersweet, but it's there. Noctis unconsciously begins to twist at the Ring of Lucii that remains on his finger. ]
[ Noctis wouldn't have made it out of Altissia alive if it weren't for Lunafreya's sacrifice. But the words he wants to say are stuck in his throat, seemingly working to burn him alive from the inside. Lunafreya was practically bred for her station. A woman so sweet and intelligent, essentially created for the sole purpose of the future king's success. Noctis has argued with himself constantly as to whether or not this is fair. And honestly? It isn't. But he knows it's what was written in their destinies. Much as he despises it. ]
[ For now, he remains silent, staring at his still-bloody hands. ]
no subject
The poor child...
Fate has truly been obscenely cruel towards those he deems as most innocent in this tale of Kings and Gods. Regis hopes to do his part to lessen the injuries done to them both.]
Shh... [A quiet hush follows as Regis continues to clean the excess blood off her.] There will be time to talk, dear princess. You have honored the Line of Lucis bravely to the very end and given our world the Light it needs to outshine the Darkness.
Your duty as Oracle has ended but I bade for you to rest, and allow us to aid you.
[Now eyeing the injury with a worried gaze, Regis gently lowers Lunafreya back down onto the comfortable cushions of the couch so he could begin. He adds a few droplets of water around the injury first before wordlessly reaching within the bag beside him to pull out a pair of rubber gloves.
Regis wouldn't dare let his bare hands touch the wound without proper measures.]
Forgive me if this hurts. I shall be gentle.
[Regis warns as he carefully rubs some water into the wound to flush out some of the dried blood. He then adds just a few droplets of peroxide into the water so he can clean the wound properly. It's a painstaking task but it must be done. He refuses to lose the princess due to infection.
The wound must be cleansed.]
Noct, pass me another cloth.
no subject
[ Noctis straightens almost military-like when Regis calls for him. ]
Ah--
On it.
[ He turns around and rushes for their supplies, grabbing a couple cloths just to be safe. He promptly hands them to Regis. ]
i am so sorry for the delay here
Lunafreya chokes on a breath, clutching at the cushion beneath her as she struggles to remain still. Her eyes open at this point and focuses on the sound of the king's voice, her own coming out cracked and broken when she speaks again. ]
Please... do what you must. I will... endure. [ She holds onto the words he had spoken previously, and she manages the ghost of a smile. ] Thank you, Your M-Majesty...
[ Blearily, she turns her gaze to Noctis, inclining her head towards him as best as she is able. ] And you, my dear Noctis... I am grateful that the stars saw fit for you to find me before I... [ Luna sucks a breath through her teeth as pain washes over her wound, but she steadies herself. ] Before... I met my end... [ Again. ]
You're fine!
Regis takes the cloths from Noctis with an approving nod before trying to dry the excess water off of Lunafreya. Next, he reaches within the medical supplies again and pries out a small vial of saline. He's making doubly sure that this wound is clean before getting to work sealing it.]
Now, now. I think we're beyond formalities, dear. [Regis says with a smile as he continues cleaning her wound with the saline mixture. This definitely hurt some because of the salt content but he is quick with it.] Simply 'Regis' will do.
[Now done with this painstaking process, it's finally time for Regis to seal this wound. He picks out a few tools from the medical kit. There's a pair of silver probes, a very small sewing needle and thread, a strip of cotton and of course bandages. The bandages will come last in this mock surgery. Right now, Regis needs to get this injury closed. The longer it's open, the lesser her chances.]
Once we get this closed, we're taking you to the clinic the next day. [He announces once he begins. Lunafreya might feel a slight hint of pain here. That's needle and thread working its way into her flesh. Hopefully, the area around the wound is a tad numb thanks to the saline. That would lessen the pain a bit.] I personally would feel more comfortable if a professional looks over you.
My medical knowledge is limited.
[He's doing his best though.]
<3 <3 <3
W-While that is... likely... I wouldn't deign to... address you so informally. [ Lunafreya attempts to remain lighthearted in order to diffuse the situation, her eyes falling upon Noctis. She still feels as if she could slip back into unconsciousness at any moment, but the small, sharp pinch of the needle entering her skin alarms her. Lunafreya does her best to remain still, keeping her eyes on Noctis' face in order to retain her focus. She can feel the way Regis pulls the needle and thread through her flesh, and though the sensation is numbed, it's enough to make her vision swim. ]
I... have heard tell of the clinic... M-Many people had... tried to bring me there... before Noctis found me... [ Lunafreya stammers, speaking in order to keep her mind off of the makeshift surgery that the old King provides. It doesn't do much to help.
Despite her best efforts, Lunafreya feels the color drain from her face as a length of thread is pulled through her desensitized flesh, and she gasps. She knows that she is in good hands in spite of Regis' lack of knowledge, but she feels as if she could pass out from the sheer shock of feeling herself literally being sewn back up. ]
no subject
[ Noctis takes a deep breath, trying to keep himself calm for her sake. He wouldn't dare break Regis' concentration, and decides to take a few careful steps forward. He crouches beside his father, giving enough distance and space for him to work. ]
You're doing great.
[ He speaks softly, encouraging her as best as he can despite how obvious it is that she's on the verge of losing consciousness again. Noctis sits near where her head rests, where he delicately places his hand upon her shoulder. ]
no subject
Goodness--! [Regis begins as he keeps sewing. The wound is slowy closing with every faint tug but it's still quite a long process for Lunafreya to endure. The king has to stop for a second to ease his nervous hands before daring to continue anew. His hands sometimes quiver every now and then but it became less frequent.] We cannot possibly have you continue with such needless formalities after this ordeal.
We'll find a way to ease the transition somehow.
[A thin sheen of sweat gathers at his brows once he finishes midway. Regis takes a brief moment to catch his breath before turning to Noct suddenly.]
Noctis. [His tone is clenched with stress but still gentle.] Be so kind as to offer Lunafreya a bottle of water. I made certain to fetch lukewarm water instead of anything ice cold. Just offer her a little bit, not a lot.
The dehydration might settle in.
no subject
On it.
[ Quickly, he gets on his feet and rushes for the bottled water. He brings it over and kneels down again. Noctis opens it, looking to Luna. ]
Just... Let me know when you're ready for it, okay?
no subject
[ Lunafreya is not an active combatant, more accustomed to the strain that comes only from communing with gods than to wounds inflicted by a blade. The toll her powers enacted upon her was mostly internal, invisible to those around her. The wound Ardyn had inflicted, however, was far more dire at present; while her body had been steadily weakening by the time she had summoned Leviathan, it would seem that the gods of Hadriel had granted her some small boon in lightening the burden that Eos' gods had placed upon her, leaving her with only her external wounds to contend with.
She truly counts herself as lucky that Noctis and Regis happen to be here with her. Without them, there would be little doubt that she would survive.
While she grows used to the feeling of thread being pulled through her flesh, Lunafreya still feels faint, something in her gut hitching and squirming at the alien feeling. She doesn't notice the minimal trembles of Regis' hand, instead focusing on how deftly he works. ]
Perhaps... Though... this certainly is a step in the right direction... I suppose... There is nothing quite so intimate is stitching up another person. [ Another attempt at humor! Look at that.
Lunafreya watches as Noctis does as he is bade, returning quickly. She wants to reach out to reassure him, to tell him that it's alright, and that he needn't panic... but she feels far too tired for even that much. Instead, she simply nods, turning her head to face him. ] Please... Go ahead.
no subject
With a few more pulls upon the thread to secure the stitch, Regis sits back and silently judges his handiwork. He used a simple white thread for this endeavor, one that is meant for medical usage. The thread itself will dissolve in time as Lunafreya heals but it may leave a scar. Regis can't help but frown at that notion since he doesn't want Lunafreya to be reminded of this day.]
The worst of it has ended. [He whispers gently as he reaches for a spare cloth to clean any of the excess fluids off her. There was a little bit of bleeding here and there but the saline stopped most of the heavy bleeding. Salt is always good for wounds like this but it aches terribly.]
Now we keep her warm and rested until the next day.
[Regis takes off the gloves and cleans his hand with some peroxide and water before reaching for a blanket for Luna. He picked out three fluffy fleece blankets earlier from the clinic closet. All three were white and comfortable. Surely someone within the clinic will realize their supplies got raided by him but that's a worry for another day.]
Here we go.
[He wraps up the poor woman within the blanket like he would bundle up Noct in his youth. The skills of a father.]
