What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

Warnings: Luscious greenery and confused newbies

As has become tradition within the good (well, okay) city of Hadriel, new arrivals will awake on the floor of the half-destroyed colosseum. Confused and disoriented, you may be wondering where you are and what you're doing there. Don't worry! Someone will probably tell you sooner or later, as long as you get out of the colosseum alive.

Oh, right. About that. Along with the poor, innocent, vulnerable new arrivals are a number of other new friends! Well, maybe less 'friends' than 'horrifying monsters', but are you really going to be picky? Wandering the arena are Shambling Mounds. These creatures are large, unattractive piles of vaguely humanoid-shaped vegetation. They hit hard, they can take a lot of damage, and if you're really unlucky they might manage to engulf you with their weird plant bodies. If that happens, you'd better try to get free fast - otherwise they'll just walk off with you stuck inside and kill you later at their leisure.

The Door appears to have cast a wide net for 'plant monsters', and while Shambling Mounds are the only ones that can actually hurt you, it's managed to pull in a number of smaller, less dangerous carnivorous plants. Some of them are even kind of cute! So if you were looking for a pet venus flytrap or a new pitcher plant, you're in luck. Scattered around the colosseum are carnivorous potted plants, just waiting to find a new home.

Make a new plant friend, or get eaten by one, or run screaming! Whatever you choose to do, once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ terrible as it sounds, kara is actually pretty used to waking up in strange places she doesn't recognize. or as used as one can get to such things. it's always a little alarming when it happens, but each time it does she just gets more and more resigned.

grumbling and muttering under her breath, she gets to her feet and looks around the colosseum, taking in her surroundings. it's weird. really weird. she doesn't have time to think more than that before peter's voice catches her attention. between one breath and the next she turns, sees him, and moves, flying in front of him to heat vision the plants that are shambling towards him. ]

Ugh, why did it have to be plants? [ enjoy the look of that cape and s-shield there, spidey, before she turns and looks all concerned like. ] Hey, you okay?

[peter doesn't normally mind plants - unless it's kale, because that stuff is just evil, even more so when aunt may tries to sneak it into something.]

Whoa! Did you just shoot lasers out of your eyes? That's awesome! How does that feel? Does it make everything look weird?

[yeah, it's pretty safe to say that he's okay. he'll never stop being excited to meet people with powers, not even when he has powers himself.]

Um... [ no one has ever been this enthusiastic about her powers before. it leaves kara feeling a little awkweird. ]

Yes, slightly warm, and no, not really.

That's impressive. Really, even cooler than that Vision guy - uh, please don't tell him I said that? Not that he's around to tell, just for future reference.

[anyway. peter comes to stand by her side, finally nodding at the question she asked earlier.]

Right, sorry. I'm fine. Thanks for the hand.

[ she smiles, a bit bemused, but nods. ]

No problem. [ team-ups are kind of a thing, after all. ] I'm Supergirl. I take it you're... Spiderboy?

No, I'm...I'm Spider-Man.

[he tries to sound confident about it. he's not ant-man, but he definitely looks like he just shrunk a little.]

Other people have made the same mistake.

[wow, he wishes he didn't just say that.]

[ kara immediately looks a little embarrassed. because wow what a mistake to make. ]

Well, uh. I'm sorry. But it's nice to meet you?

It's nice to meet you too.

[peter is sure of that much. she looks like she feels bad about it too, which makes him feel bad.]
