What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-16th
Warnings: Luscious greenery and confused newbies
As has become tradition within the good (well, okay) city of Hadriel, new arrivals will awake on the floor of the half-destroyed colosseum. Confused and disoriented, you may be wondering where you are and what you're doing there. Don't worry! Someone will probably tell you sooner or later, as long as you get out of the colosseum alive.
Oh, right. About that. Along with the poor, innocent, vulnerable new arrivals are a number of other new friends! Well, maybe less 'friends' than 'horrifying monsters', but are you really going to be picky? Wandering the arena are Shambling Mounds. These creatures are large, unattractive piles of vaguely humanoid-shaped vegetation. They hit hard, they can take a lot of damage, and if you're really unlucky they might manage to engulf you with their weird plant bodies. If that happens, you'd better try to get free fast - otherwise they'll just walk off with you stuck inside and kill you later at their leisure.
The Door appears to have cast a wide net for 'plant monsters', and while Shambling Mounds are the only ones that can actually hurt you, it's managed to pull in a number of smaller, less dangerous carnivorous plants. Some of them are even kind of cute! So if you were looking for a pet venus flytrap or a new pitcher plant, you're in luck. Scattered around the colosseum are carnivorous potted plants, just waiting to find a new home.
Make a new plant friend, or get eaten by one, or run screaming! Whatever you choose to do, once you find your way out of the colosseum there's plenty of other distractions. Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[Hux clasped his hands behind his back stiffly before the screeching startled him. He wasn't someone who fought anywhere near the front lines but he still instinctively moved to draw his blaster from the pocket of his black greatcoat.
But any thought of whatever could have been coming for them was interrupted when suddenly there was a sword that seemed to have materialized out of nowhere.
That was unexpected. He didn't raise his blaster but it remained in his hand, nonetheless. It was always good to be prepared.]
Oh good, it seems you're not entirely helpless. That was impressive, I must say, not many have such a skill.
[His tone had no hint of awe, however. He regularly saw blaster shots frozen in mid-air or invisible force being used to lift objects or people up. It was something that he took note of, someone who could summon objects from nowhere clearly had some kind of magical power.]
Yes, though I am not sure how fortunate you will feel when you realize there is no leaving for the time being as we are guests of supposed gods.

Regis cants his gaze towards the alleged imperial briefly before turning his gaze towards the direction of the screech. He remains silent for a spell as if trying to gauge how far away the creature is. Either someone killed the fiend or something else got to it first. Whichever the case, Regis isn't dispelling his glaive anytime soon.
Eventually, he turns his gaze back towards the man once he notices the firearm. It looks eerily reminiscent of the weaponry the Niffs wield, shockingly so. Regis cannot help but frown some.
Just who is this man? The other remind him too much like Aldercapt for some oddity. It's as if this man could be the dictator's son.]
The Line of Lucis are protected by the blades of their forebearers. [He explains tersely.] You will not see such elsewhere.
[The king frowns more. As much as Hadriel truly terrifies him, he's grateful to draw breath once more.]
Gods? [A scoff.] I know something of 'gods'.

[And he wanted to be able to better gauge if it was possible to use this man's talents to challenge the gods.
Finding allies was a daunting task when he didn't have a star destroyer looming in the sky to convince reluctant leaders it was in their best interests to be loyal to the First Order. He had to go about it more carefully here.]
What is your experience with gods? [If this man was willing to take on the gods, then he wanted to know as much as he could.]
I personally find it impossible to believe in all-powerful deities. Everyone has their weakness, it's just a matter of finding it and I'm sure the same holds true here.

Eos. [He replies quickly before giving some slight details.] The Domain of the Six, the Slumb'ring Star.
[The world of Eos is a small world that is almost as big as Earth but a few diameters smaller in size. It's mostly made of water with clusters of landmass here and there. Eos is a vibrant and colorful realm terrorized by a deadly disease that plagued them since creation. They're heavily influenced by their deities and religion both. It's also one of the few realms were magic strives.]
I know naught of the Gods present here but those of Eos, often spoke to my forebearers and I of prophecies unfilled. [He frowns a little as he thinks of how to answer this fully without giving away too much.] They come in many forms but the Astrals don the appearance of magnificent beasts.
[He smirks a little at that last comment.]
The Gods can't be all-powerful if they always require the aid of Man.

[But he doubted this king was from the planet he was thinking of. He slipped the safety on his blaster before putting it in his pocket before retrieving his datapad. A few swipes over the surface suddenly brought up the information he had been looking for.]
The name does bring up a planet but it's marked a volcanic wasteland with factories by the last update. Must be a coincidence in the name then, I highly doubt there are any gods there.
[He definitely didn't see any indication that Regis was at all affiliated with the organization who had once occupied that planet over 50 years ago. Still, it was a strange little detail he hadn't expected. He slipped the datapad back into his pocket carefully.]
I quite agree. That means they have weaknesses and those can be exploited. It's just a matter of finding those out and using them to our advantage. [Hux had never believed in any greater power or gods, only grudgingly admitting the power of the Force after seeing Kylo Ren wielding it. He had always preferred tangible power in the forms of weapons and ships.]

Unless my realm fell to ruin within a day, it must honestly be a coincidence and nothing more.
[It would be a crying shame if Eos did fall. That would mean everything he's done to preserve the future was for naught. The Gods would never let such a fate befall them, right? Regis certainly hopes so.]
If we mean to wage war against the Divine, then we best to know them well. [We? Regis means that in a metaphorical sense. He has no qualms with the Divine as of yet. He owes them his renewed life.] Only a fool would challenge Gods and not know the limit of their reach.
[He's hinting loosely that these deities could be listening in on them now. The Gods know all, don't they? Let's hope not.]

[Hux looked at Regis thoughtfully, at least the man didn't seem to be a fool and ready to rush into the fight. That was promising. He could work with that.]
Indeed. However, they aren't all powerful, that I've been able to determine in my short time here. [He could at least offer that much as a tentative offer to indicate he was willing to consider an alliance here. He still made no move to provide any assistance in terms of Regis's physical injuries, he was really ill-suited to anything like that.]

He could tell that the young man before him lacks something that most people have, and that is sincerity. The man before him lacks a sincerity that comes with caring for your fellow man. He's too cold, too frigid and very much like the 'Emperor of Niflheim' he grown to despise over the long hard years.
It's as if the younger man prides himself on being distant. Disturbing.]
How so? [He questions with a glance.] Have you communed with the Gods of this realm? The Divine don't often speak to just anyone, at least from what I understand.
[Not to mention that the military officer doesn't seem like the spiritual type at all.]
What is your name? I fear introductions are upon us now.

I don't believe them to be true gods however. Merely powerful beings.
[Hux clasped his hands behind his back stiffly. He didn't even try to fake empathy- he had only tried to fake it once in his life and it hadn't been very convincing. Anyone who was halfway observant would know it was a terrible act and this man didn't look to be fool.]
Hux. And you are?
no subject
The only deities I ever known where the Six and they do not don the same names as the ones you've mentioned.
[The king comes to a slow halt as he glances over at Hux with something akin to a smirk. It fades ever so quickly and becomes more like a frown eventually.]
Regis Lucis Caelum.
no subject
He glanced at Regis, noticing the king moving away. The man seemed to be in pain and clearly needed medical attention. Hux wouldn't stop him.]
Well, then, Regis, unless you die on your way to the clinic you can contact me over your device. I'm sure our paths will cross again.
