( He may or may not have been staring all night. But who can really blame him? There's so little in this place that's truly beautiful, at least when it comes to what's on offer for clothes and other things. He might not know that much about fashion, but even Matt knows that the majority of what's found in Hadriel's shops is not something that would pass Emily's standards.

He'd bet that's probably why she started sewing in the first place.

Waiting until there's a moment he can tug her by the wrist and get her away from all her friends, Matt smiles as he leads them to a little corner. Somewhere reasonably private. )

Congratulations, my lady.

[Even though Emily is well aware she stands out tonight, she has been too distracted by how all this feels to notice anyone specific watching her -- and that goes to show how much this place has changed her. A year ago, she would've expected and maybe even demanded that Matt pay attention to her. Now, she's just so glad he's here and safe that she's not thinking like an insecure little girl as much. (At all, if you ask her, but that of course comes from a place of youthful ignorance.)

She grins as Matt leads her away, slipping her fingers between his. It's safe and warm and wonderful.]

Why thank you, sir. [She giggles. This is so dumb. She loves it.] Having a good time?

( They haven't had enough time to relax, lately. Really, ever since he came here. If it hasn't been zombies, it's been demons and everything else. The last god's resurrection had been a good change, admitting they're in love - the kind of thing that makes the butterflies twist and dance in his stomach, that makes the prospect of a god who feeds off them, who will want this, one that buzzes pleasantly around his periphery - and everything that comes with knowing that they're enough together, that they can make it, that he's got someone so wonderful at his side-

All of that has let his shoulders lose some of the tension, his face lose some of the tightness that had crept in. It's a good time to finally celebrate Em's turning twenty and all that means to her family (whose absence is its own presence, because she's spoken at length about this day and it feels strange to know that they're celebrating it with people they've barely known a year), a good time to hold hands and act like young adults in love do. )

A great one. ( His smile widens at her giggle. ) It's nice to see all your friends in one place.

Yeah. [She feels like royalty, decked out in her furisode and a fancy hairdo. One of the most important days of her life, and she gets to dress the part. The guest list wasn't huge -- definitely smaller than it would've been at home -- but everyone here is someone she wants to have around.

Especially Matt. She hadn't thought much about how she'd celebrate with her friends from home. They'd go out, have a party somewhere, stay out until sunrise. Maybe have a bonfire on the beach. Something memorable but casual. She didn't even know if she'd have a boyfriend then, or who he'd be.

But now it's all so clear.]

It's nice to have you here for this. [She steps in, stands on her toes to give him a kiss.] This is a really special day. I'm so glad you get to see it.
