Event Log: Dead Ringers

What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words
Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.
At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.
So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?► This log covers January 16th-January 25th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If your evil clone happens to take you out, please let us know here, and remember that you will not revive until the event is over.

About what?
no subject
it's part of her charm- rarely shutting up. but it makes her memorable, too, gives her double something easy and charismatic to build on. ]
Primarily, Anakin Skywalker.
no subject
What about him?
no subject
[ mostly because she keeps her cards close to her chest. she lets herself be a little flashy, showing off how effortless it is to defend and protect when it comes to the monsters that swarm the city from time to time, but that's it. the only time he's seen her fully embrace what she is so clearly capable of was when she'd taken his lightsaber from him, when she'd had enough.
and, well, she's had enough now. her double has, at least. the original might still be a pushover, were she here.
when she continues, her words are heavy in the force, as if her mere presence is stronger now than ever. ] You revere him as a symbol of the Dark Side, but in turning away from the Light, he's cut himself off from half of everything available to him through the Force. You'll learn nothing but more chaos from him, never the strength and clarity of true balance. You would regret turning exclusively to his teachings. I wanted to be sure that you won't.
no subject
No. He'll show me the way to true power, better than you ever could. [This delusion has been wrapped in his head for a long time now. It'll take a lot more than this to dislodge it.]
no subject
[ and that's his warning before she's lunging at him, reversing the events of their first fight, when he had challenged her and she had proved herself, damnit. he didn't appreciate her the way she deserved to be appreciated. but he will, in time. ]
no subject
As he parries her first one, he thinks to himself. This...it isn't like her. Ahsoka has always been nothing but patient with him, even when he hasn't deserved it. This move is unexpected of her.
no subject
yet, even if he fails to deflect her properly, she's more than in control enough of her own weapons to stop them before she does him serious damage. this is to put him in his place, not maim him. ]
You've never fought a Sith a combat before, so you don't know what they're like. [ she's lecturing while she fights now, her tone icy cold instead of the light, conversational tone that any wisdom from the original ahsoka would carry at a time like this. ] But they're sloppy. Anger may give you strength, but strength without the skill to turn it into something useful gets you nothing in the end.
no subject
He pulls back a few steps, giving him enough breathing room to answer her cold words.]
And you think you're the one who will be able to teach me this? How can you know what anger will do when you don't give into yours?

a, claps hands
So she cautiously leaves her apartment, finds her way to where Ahsoka wanted to meet, and just... waits. Tries to think of what she's going to say to make things okay, and trying to hold onto the fact that maybe she doesn't know anything yet and they can just talk and it will be Nice. Maybe. Hopefully.]
no subject
only a few minutes, but why not making the lizard a little more worked up from the start, right? ]
Alphys, hey. I'm glad you came out to talk.
[ the phrasing may be normal, but the tone is too cool, like ahsoka's in the sort of bad mood she would never turn on alphys usually. ]
no subject
It's n-no problem. Is, uhm... is everything okay?
no subject
Whatever it is that's going on with doubles or whatever you'd like to call them, it's just another constant of life here. Things are busy, one mess after another. And... [ a pause, a shake of her head. the double knows full well that ahsoka could never do this without any emotion at all, but everything would be bottled up. it certainly is now. ] I felt I owed it to you to say this to your face: I can't care about you any more than I care about anyone else here. You're just one of so many people who can't protect themselves and I can't afford to give you any sort of special treatment.
no subject
[It's quiet, and reserved; at Ahsoka's words, she immediately draws back, grips her hands tight, lets her shoulders slump. That's... that's fine. Expected, even. She couldn't ask Ahsoka to take time out of her day to come save her all the time, after all.]
I mean, uhm, I u-understand. And, uh, you don't have to! Or, uhm, feel l-like you do. I didn't mean for that. It, uh, kind of just kept happening? But I u-understand.
[Even though there's that gnawing feeling in the back of her mind that there's something not right about this, Alphys pushes it down. After all, this was expected, right? It was going to happen eventually.]
no subject
[ or keeping their heads down, keeping themselves inside where they won't be in anyone's way. ]
no subject
I'll... I'll try not to get in the way a-anymore.
[If she can't do good, the least she can do is stop hindering others, right?]
a idk bro idk
He takes a shortcut that spits him out about three feet higher than it's meant to, which is why Sans pretty much drops onto "Ahsoka" from midair. Just this sweating, exhausted bundle of a skeleton tumbling forth out of the ether to land on top of her. Or not, if she's quick enough to get out of the way.]
no subject
What the hell? Watch where you're going.
no subject
Wh...uh.
[Give him a second. He's still getting his bearings.]
Which one're you?
no subject
[ the tone isn't very reassuring, though. maybe she is a little offended, for all she's certain that alphys has told him about her. ]
no subject
[Ahsoka. Wait. Yeah. The one Alphys has a capital-sized crush on. Alien chick. Can't say his memory's doing him any favors at the moment, 'cause he can't recall much else about her, but that's forgivable, right? He's pretty out of it.]
Wait. Right. Yeah, I remember - y'know Alphys, yeah?
no subject
no subject
[Least she was, before everything went straight to hell. He's puttin' things together, bit by bit. Not that he can make any passing judgments as to the content of Ahsoka's character when he ain't technically met her, but Alphys likes people who're...
All right. She likes nice people. She likes good people.
Not people who use cold tones of voice, he's pretty sure. Unless this 'Ahsoka' chick is just like that with people she don't know?
He needs to think, and he's too tired for this. He squints one eyesocket at her, blearily.]
So what're you doin' out here?
no subject
Things have gone sideways again, right on schedule, so there's the usual need to take responsibility for keeping the people here safe. Most of you can't do it yourselves, so someone has to.
