Event Log: Dead Ringers

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words

Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.

At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.

So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?

double scheming is a go

[ ahsoka's too good. she's too dedicated to her causes, too quick to turn on the compassionate tone of voice and big blue eyes, too good with her lightsabers to take down with certainty in a fair fight. so the double, the version of her that festers in bitterness and isolation, knows that getting rid of the original can't be a fair fight.

crippling her emotionally, destroying her connections- that won't ever be enough. she's nothing if not resilient. she's used to losing everyone once she cares about them. but a trap? then the double will stand a chance and when she sees the little rom on their vandalism rampage, her plan forms on the spot.

she approaches the same way that their original counterparts might interact, one hand on her hip, stopping at a distance where turing won't have to crane too much to see her face. ]

Hey, you. [ it's an affectionate greeting, one of the ways the original ahsoka might switch it up some days. ] What are you up to now?

(By this time, the rude little double has already enacted their public humiliation plans, and managed to avoid getting caught by the original Ahsoka, both of which they're quite proud of.

The self satisfied grinning and snickering stops the moment they hear that voice, though. They stiffen in terror and drop the spraypaint almost immediately, completely ruining a most artistically offensive drawing of a sexual organ.

It's about then that they realize she's also a double. Their expression is a little annoyed.)

"Well, I WAS trying to ensure that my double will be consistently assaulted with images that offend their delicate sensibilities, but I'm hoping your interruption means you have a better suggestion."

(She had better.)

I need your help. [ straight to the point, as always, even as her gaze lingers on the unfinished... artwork. really, turing? she thought even their double would be above this.

her eyes drop back to the robot. ]

And I'm sure you wouldn't like to have any sort of run-in with the other Ahsoka.

(Hey! They spent a lot of time making that as shitty and offensive as possible! It totally qualifies as art.)

"You'd be correct." (They calm slightly, though they don't seem hugely interested.) "Though I have done a pretty good job of avoiding her without assistance. Unless you were trying to threaten me." (They do an admirable job of not looking even remotely intimidated by the prospect.

After a moment though, they sigh.)

"I suppose I might as well ask what you want me to help with."

[fulcra]

[ avoiding the original ahsoka isn't nearly the same thing as eliminating her as a threat, though, and that ought to be the priority here. ]

The two of us will have to fight eventually and I'd rather it be on my terms, which means she needs to caught off guard. You have to know what you - your former self - what you mean to her, so you'll be my bait. I'll show you where I want you to bring her and if you do, whether by deceit or threats to the other little robot roaming around, I promise to protect you.

[turingmachine]

(On her terms, huh? They think back to Turing-the original Turing-and their memories of taking down Big Blue. Hadn't that phrase been used then? Machine Sapience on their terms?

Whatever. It didn't matter anyway.)

(They nod.)"Her reaction to my spraypainting them, while ridiculous, was quite touching, I suppose. I could get her there..." (Except they don't seem all that interested. As much as they'd like to stay alive, they aren't really concerned about long term protection. They're all just a bunch of fakes created by the gods anyway; how long are they even going to be kept around?) "but I want my original alive. And I want the body."

(They don't need protection. They'll exist forever as a bad memory.)

[fulcra]

Alright. Deal. [ she's not going to question a droid's motivation for wanting a second body. turing is more than an average droid, certainly, but that just means that their logic has even less chance of making sense to her.

but this isn't such a bad machine, so ahsoka doesn't mind playing along. ]

I'm glad that she already knows you're here. She's probably looking for you, to give you a talking to about manners. [ mostly because she doesn't believe the original capable of destroying even a deviant version of her friend. she wouldn't do it to an astromech, so she sure wouldn't do it here. ] So when she finds you, lead her to the abandoned corner of the city, past the orchard. I'll be waiting for you there, but I'll see both of you before you see me.

(And they grin at that. The lack of menace in their expressions is probably pretty weird given the subject they're discussing, but this body was never made to be intimidating.)
