Event Log: Dead Ringers

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Dead Ringers event!
Where: All around the city
When: January 16th-January 25th
Warnings: Evil doubles, so we can assume manipulation, violence, murder, and maybe some nasty words

Everything seems normal on the morning of the 16th - actually, everything seems normal about the city for the entirety of this event. Nothing is strange, nothing is obviously wrong. Well, except that the population has mysteriously doubled, and the new residents each look exactly like one of the old residents. So weird! Definitely not ominous at all.

At least until your new double gets down to business. After all, their only goal is to ruin your life, and that can take any form. Smashing your favorite coffee cup? Telling your worst enemy they're right? Kissing someone else in front of your girlfriend? Brutally murdering you and then hiding your body in a closet so they can more effectively destroy your life? The possibilities are truly endless, and the only way to protect yourself is to kill your double first. They're not really open to negotiation, after all - but they sure might pretend to be in order to trick you.

So watch your back, and try to make sure that really is your best friend and not an evil clone masquerading as them. Boy, that would be awkward. If you can stick it out until January 25th, good for you! But if you didn't manage to and your double survives until the end - well, just as a final 'fuck you', there's a chance you'll come back to life and remember every awful thing your double did. Hey, at least that'll make it easier to fix, right?

[connor's smile grows as johnny's does; like johnny is the sun radiating warmth and bringing it to those around him. the flirting is a good sign, the light in his eyes. it definitely makes him happier, too.]

You wanna talk about it? [beat] Or go somewhere and not talk about it?

[fulminants]

Drinks.

[ He gestures the bartender over and signals for another round; he's definitely not in the mood to talk about it, and having more alcohol in his system is going to help with shedding all that's happened. Johnny flashes a grin at him, sharp and reckless.

He reaches out, tugging lightly at Connor's collar before sliding a shotglass towards him. The drink sparks, flames blue and green before simmering and dying off. ] Then let's go somewhere and not talk about it.

That sounds perfect to me.

[he watches the drink with wonder, waiting for the flames to die off before trying to touch it. when its cool enough to touch he takes the shot and grins.]

That's a nice touch.

[fulminants]

[ Johnny watches Connor more than the fire itself - the spark of flames reflected in his eyes. The man's gorgeous, it's an undeniable truth; but Johnny's smile is just a touch less bright than it usually would be.

He knocks back his own glass and exhales. ] You think so? You're not scared?

Why should I be scared? You're a superhero, right? You don't hurt people.

[after all!! he still remembers that first post where johnny was showing off. and for as much as he was, you know, doing just that, he was also offering to help people.]

[fulminants]

[ That's a sweet kind of sentiment right there, a trust that makes Johnny smile briefly despite himself. See, he thrives on attention, good-hearted but playfully flashy. He clinks his empty glass lightly with his before he sets that aside; honestly, it's just nice not to be seen as the family screwup, especially by someone he considers a friend. He's got a short, short list of them lately. ]

I like that. C'mon, let's go.

[connor stands, ready to follow johnny's lead. this worked out very nicely.]
